Awesome, never ice fished the lake but fish there a lot in the spring summer for walleyes mostly. Great walleye lake as well!

Just had this issue last week at Glen Elder Lake in Kansas, it was miserable the first day with the ankle biting flies (almost drove us insane multiple times throughout the day)…using deet products only worked temporarily and not a solution. Second day picked up a Thermo Cell and soon afer turning it on problem solved! Just an amazing product.
April 23, 2014 at 8:08 pm #1405830Female fish of many species start producing eggs in the fall and they continue to develop for months in advance of the spawn. You must not clean many fish caught ice fishing? You see eggs in cleaned fish all the time in winter and even fall. The eggs don’t just magically appear and then all of sudden are layed lol! It takes months.

Delivered this summer and FINALLY broken in. Of course not fishing her as much as I would like but that will change soon.
2013 Competitor 175 sport, 150 yammie 4 stroke with 798.
I’ve got one of these coming in the next week or two with the same motor with a shorelander galvanized roller trailer. Went with the ice blue color. What kind of speeds are you seeing now that it is broken in?December 8, 2011 at 9:46 pm #1016009Quote:
SO most rivers are connected to lakes. Maybe a dumb question but do they like rivers more than lakes? I assume they will go into the lake too but what do they prefer?
To reproduce sucessfully they need a fairly large river with good flow. Not sure on the exact conditions but I got this information from a biologist on another site.
November 22, 2011 at 6:16 pm #989844Just curious James, what kind of water clarity did you have to get this great footage on Devils. I suppose it helps being in 10.5 ft of water. I’ve got an 825 SD coming tomorrow and can’t wait.

The formula to calculate the weight for a Northern Pike that is 40 inches long and has a girth of 20 inches is as follows. Northern Pike have a shape factor of 1000 and a girth ratio of (.52)
WEIGHT = LENGTH x GIRTH² / SHAPE FACTOR
# WEIGHT= 40 x (20²) / 1000
# WEIGHT= 40 x 400 / 1000
# WEIGHT= 16000 / 1000
# WEIGHT = 16.0 poundsPlease Note: A 40 inch pike might be thicker than normal and have a girth of 22 inches, which would make the fish 19.4 pounds.
41 inch?
Sweet [censored] fish!
November 17, 2011 at 8:16 pm #1009930You guys that like the Berkley vanish really need to fork out a little more money and buy the Berkley 100 percent flourocarbon…Way way way better stuff, just more expensive. My problem with the vanish was in the 10-14 lb stuff for open water bass rods knot strenght is horrible, whatever knot I used or how much you lubricate your knot. They were supposed to have fixed this in the newer vanish but it does not seem so.
November 16, 2011 at 4:19 pm #1009445I’ve just been using 2 3 and 4 lb trilene ice for the last 9 or 10 yrs and it has been good to me for panfish, looks like hardly anyone uses it, guess I’m gonna have to try some p-line… Tried suffix ice 3 lb and while it does have excellent strength (seems stronger than any other 3 lb) it is hard feeling with lots of memory for me. After taking a great liking to seaguar invizx this last yr for open water I think I will buy some of their new abrazx ice in 2 lb.
November 15, 2011 at 4:25 am #1008962Definately smallmouth buffalo. Thats funny you guys mention the slime. I normally never, never fish out of the boat and swim on the same outing, usually strictly fishing, but this past summer I caught about a 20 lber (they get much larger south of you guys, Nebraska state record is 56 lb. 3 oz.)first one I had ever caught and my nephews insisted on getting it in the boat for photos. Got slimed like I never thought possible…incredibly gross amount of slime on me and on the boats carpet. Was so gross had to jump in the lake and get cleaned off and even then did not get all the slime off my shorts and shirt. Had it in the livewell for pics and released fish but did not drain the livewell and the next afternoon on a 95 degree day open the livewell hatch and had the most horrendeous stench you could ever imagine. Never seen anything like it
November 12, 2011 at 5:30 am #10083905 lb. hybrid striped bass (white bass crossed with striped bass) put up a heck of a fight, much stronger than a 5 lb. channel cat, a five lb. ocean run steelhead I caught fought even harder, best fighting fish I’ve caught (caught in freshwater river in Pacific Northwest). Have never caught a 5 lb. smallmouth but the 3 pounders I have caught fought better than channel cats so I’d imagine a 5 lber would be pretty impressive.
November 1, 2011 at 3:41 am #1005615Spectacular bluegills, nice work. I can only wish I had a hole that would produce gills of that size.
November 1, 2011 at 12:25 am #1005584Awesome shots, surprised your thermocline is still present. I’ve got the HD-8 and love it but still need to add the structure scan module, can’t wait.
October 14, 2011 at 3:04 pm #1001453Great tip Chris! I stumbled upon your “swirl” technique a few years back on accident and it works great in the waters I fish for crappies as many of the best spots have brushpiles that were planted by the state or other anglers. Works really good to find schools or the brush if you are off by a matter of feet or even yards and the brush shows up great on a flasher. Makes it a lot easier to drill right over the best spots in the brushpile (often the most dense snaggiest spot in the brushpile).
October 14, 2011 at 2:52 pm #1001443Check Craigslist minneapolis boat listings. Little bit of a drive but the number of quality used boats at good prices is staggering. Seen a bunch of 165cs magnums listed in the last month. This is the route I took when buying used this last winter and the numbers and prices of used boats within 200 miles just did not compare to the deals day in day out listed on the minneapolis craigslist. I drove 400 miles and would not hesitate to look again. For you the drive would be more reasonable.

I may not have voted for Obama or agree with all that he has done, but HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE US and you insinuating that he is a worse person than Hitler to me is offensive, say what you want and I know it was a joke but I’m gonna voice my opinion on it.
October 3, 2011 at 5:52 pm #998754Wow, thats a hell of a wood pile Chris, not to mention some dang nice walleyes!
