Somebody told me once, “Son, I wouldn’t beat eggs with a f…ing Motor Guide.”
Buying a Minn Kota is definitely a better investment.
I have a 101 with lift assist and it is beautiful.

I currently own a 36 volt 101 Maxxum Pro with the universal sonar and it rocks, it’s mounted on the bow of my 18 foot Lund and it will pull my rig through anything.
I ordered my boat last year with the Minn Kota 3 bank and everything has worked fine up to now (keeping my fingers crossed). I also use 3 Interstate 27’s which I also highly recomend.
The real bonus is when you fish hard all day or tournament fish you still have lots of juice left over at the end of the day.
You absolutely cannot go wrong with this unit.

I have my motor mounted one hole pitch up from the bottom (about 3/4 inch). I think the Tempest Plus would be the ideal prop at a 19″ pitch but I purchased the 21″ pitch based on a stupid decision. I tried a Trophy Plus (4 blade) with a 21″ pitch and ran 49mph @ 5400 rpm. The hole shot was good so I figured the same pitch in a three blade would be perfect. What I didn’t know was that the Tempest Plus had a massive (14 5/8) diameter.

I tried calling Lund but once I asked a question that wasn’t on their stat sheet they didn’t have much to say. They recomended a 19″ pitch Laser with an end result of 47mph. No thank you. I’d rather play around and try to achieve that illusive 55mph. I know I didn’t purchase a speed demon but I don’t think I’m being unrealistic.

    Thanks guys

Thank you very much gentlemen. I have recieved a better response here than in the last 8 months on various other forums.
I forgot to mention my boat is 18’2″ long and likely the same as Derek’s hull. I did move the motor up one hole but speed and water presure remained the same.

    Thank you
