Real nice article. There are some real good fisherman around here. I mean real good. Im glad you wrote it so well.
go ahead and start on pool ten, then lock right up to lansing . pool 9s thirty times better, seriously its worth the extra 27 miles.
get the maps at cabelas. ive seen 9 and 10 there. There the nicest paper maps u can find
as far as what i heard the waters gonna crest on tuesday on pool ten. which would be really nice. screaming hot weather this week means some hungry largies for easter weekend.
no joke i just ate less then ten minutes ago and looking at those things just put a rumble in my stomach… not a big fan of the greens but i would destroy those morels…. back to fishing.. do you think those fish were spawning.. you said you were shallow and the water was 63ish?
your dreaming if you think that old fart will be playing anywhere next fall.. hes gonna be in mississippi pounding beers and bass…and cutting his lawn
mr. koonce is right with the info he told you for sure.. my suggestion is to go north or south of pdc.. just stay away from prairie. its ok but theres better fish north and south
if they dont bite a plastic right away throw a big swim bait by them.. something about that makes them mad.. then throw your plastic back…see what happens.
find areas that are at least 7 or 8 degrees warmer… try find spots with that temp but at the same time are near deep water… also they HAVE to be facing south which means they get son all day long… (this means north banks)… or try to find deep water and then a big break into mid depth water like 30 to 10 feet for small mouths… they will be loaded up in these kind of spots…(points).. make sure to fish slow.. even tho the water is warming up its still cold and thats the best way to catch fish (is slow)
i mean that when you shave the bill on a crank you take away that protective round shape and as soon as you start to bump cover the bill will wear away causing them to be useless after awhile.. shaving bills is not a bad idea tho. I read a bassmaster one time that said some pro shaves all his bills.. it gets them down a little deeper and they wiggle just a little sweeter. of course this pro probably has a basement and a rv full of crankbaits that he can afford to get rid of..
also if u shave the bill just a little bit it will wear away when u come in contact with structure, making that bait only effective for so long.
back to the flipping question… Do you think that bass can hear the braid? What i mean is that braid makes noise on eyes everybody knows and loves the sound it makes but do you think that bass every get turned off by the sound? Im guessing that when u are in the trees its gonna rub and make an unnatural sound.. Just wondering what everybodys opinions are.
if any one can recall a day a long long time ago before the buzzin frogs came out. One trend for pros was a weight less lizard on the top of slop. Same way we now use frogs.
hey man what kind of areas are these if u dont mind me asking…im north of you a few pools so whats working down there will be similar in a few weeks up here..
it does not matter what your ratio is your not going lose fish because you cant winch a fish out because its to fast. theres no way. When was the last time that your 7:1 failed with anything. If you buy quality reels it doesnt make a difference
First of all that is a huge northern.. Second thats a fat stack of crappies… Third of all how much did that bass weigh…fourth nice job
how do they know that its not just people taking to many walleyes out of this lake. Instead of taking bass out why dont they just leave more walleyes in. Maybe change the limits or imply a size slot for them. I agree 100% that nature will take its way but to a certain point that doesnt apply if humans are involved.
I dont understand why these beds are a draw for bass. What do bass find so special about shell beds is there bait fish that draw to these areas or what?
to me it seems like the ”power” of reels doesnt apply as much as we think. I think the reels that are on the market today are good enough were your going to be able to get a bass out of the junk with whatever ratio it is. I do think that the faster the reel is the better, if it is good quality. Its easier to reel slower then to speed up. if a bass makes a run at you when it hits the frog or whatever I think u need to have that extra foot or two to catch up to the fish. I dont even agree that people need slow ratios for crankbaits btw but thats a different subject.
