The Pit Stop is where I usually go. Brenda is really nice and they are usually open pretty early where you can even get breakfast. It’s a small bar, restaraunt, bait/tackle and convienience store all in one – what else could you want!!
I contacted mine. One said she was for it and the other one said I was the first one to contact him about it and he didn’t know which we he was going to stand on it.
Caught one just about the same size yesterday below L & D No. 9 on the ‘Sippi. My forearm is still sore! It’s amazing the power those fish have – especially when they see the surface.
A friend and I used to fish it a lot in mid 90’s with almost the identical boat and motor (only a 60hp). You should be fine, especially if you aren’t going out to the mud flats but common sense will be your best tool on that lake. Good luck.
Out of curiosity, what are launch prices going for these days?
Fished pool 10 yesterday and kept a few Whitey’s for dinner. They had shiners in their stomachs. I use a 1/4 or 3/8 oz. Castmaster in full silver about every time. One-eyed wolfs also work but the deeper you go the more sheepies you catch. A friend of mine swears by the Little Cleo’s. What a fun fish and great tablefare when prepared right.
Fished pool 10 yesterday and thought the water wasn’t as clear as usual for this time of year. It was also hard to fish wing-dams with all of the weeds coming downstream. Still great to be out on the river though!
Fished the wingdams yesterday below Lynxville and caught a couple. Be prepared for a lot of boat traffic this weekend with pleasure boaters and bass fisherman. Good luck and let us know how you do.
Fished Lynx this morning and only reduced two saugers to possession. S. L. O. W. was the key word for today. Didn’t see too many nets out very often for as many boats that were out there. Still early yet – it should keep getting better day by day.
My partner and myself fished it this morning also. We were on the water at first light and couldn’t get any early biters. SLOW is an understatement. We ended up with three, the nicest being a 19 1/2″ sauger. We left early to get some “honey-do” projects done to stay on their good side so we can fish when the bite is on again.
Fished Lynxville this morning. We were the third boat of close to 50 to put in for the day. The boats were plentiful but the fish were scattered. Caught a lot of little cigars with one sauger going 19 1/2″ (released). Kept a few nice sauger and one nice eater walleye. Witnessed most people just boating small saugers with a few decent walleyes mixed in. Still a beautiful day to be on the water…
