I also recommend talking to John and Lisa at Royalty British Labs. We bought one from him last winter. Best decision we ever made after months of researching the breed. He is very detail oriented with his dogs and owners.

Ice is nice here in the BRD. Getting ready for the Extravaganza on Gull lake this weekend. Should be a good turnout. The bite has been pretty good still. Lots of walleyes on gull and round lakes. They have ran on the small side lately. Crappies are also biting on the small lakes along with a few panfish. The northerns have been a little tight lipped. We’ll be at the bait shop all weekend to get you guys ready to hit the ice. Good luck!

The bait shop was crazy busy this weekend, but we survived and anglers caught fish. Ice conditions are great on most lakes. 10-12 inches plus is the norm and they seem to be driving full size and wheelhouses everywhere. Gull and round have been the best for walleyes in the mornings and evenings. Haven’t heard much for pike action but the crappie fishing has been good on Sibley, Middle Cullen, and Pelican lake mostly in the evenings. Cold one out there today but it looks like a great week to get after them. Happy New Year to everyone.

Making ice pretty good now. Most areas have 8-10 inches plus. The bite has been steady for walleyes, crappies, and northerns. Nothing outstanding but half ways decent. Using Atvs everywhere now with now real problem areas. Gull and Round are both producing some decent fishing the last few days.

Ice conditions are good now. We have 6-8 inches in most areas and no real problem areas yet. Fishing has been a little spotty with an occasional good report. We are starting to run with Atvs on Gull and Round. Not much snow out there. Buckshots, macho minnows, and jigging raps have been the best producers in 15-25 feet. We should be able to run the entire lake by midweek. So far we have been hitting the shoreline breaks and some of the closer midlake points and sunken islands. Cold weather the next few days should make a few more inches. Merry Christmas and good luck to everyone.

Rainy Lake, Lake of the Woods, Devils Lake, or South Dakota. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. I think I would go Rainy Lake multi species and very beautiful up there.

Hi Chris, James, and Ben. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing one of your spots with us this week. We were the guys in the Warrior boat. My dad is a vertical jigger to the core otherwise I would have been on the plastics and pitching. Your technique was spot on. It was fun seeing you guys slaying those pigs. Nice talking to you guys and good luck the rest of the season.

Let me know what you are looking at. I recommend the Stradic Ci4 1000 for a jigging rod. Nice and light. Another nice reel is the Pflueger Patriarch.

Hi Fishhound, send me a message. I can get you a better deal on these rods. Plus then you can use your points and gift cards for a new reel at cabelas. I have a few in stock at our shop up in Nisswa. I can ship one to you.
Jason Erlandson
Thanks guys, we switched them out. I think it’ll take care of the problem.

Hi Gut, Have you had success in the past with the Perfect Plot and Green Patch? I’m trying to figure out what to put in the ground. Thanks.
Great fish Ron! Looks like she had a great time. Lets see, in front of the birch tree and down the water from that white boat. I think I have it figured out. See you out there.

Thanks guys, I might try spraying with round up if the weeds come in too strong. I just bought a gallon of concentrate for my other plots anyways.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. The mix I planted is mostly clover. I did spread a little oats and winter peas, and turnips around the edges. I think the gobblers were after the oats. We’ll see how it goes. I might end up plowing it under and planting again later in the summer. During seeding I never can tell if I am spreading it at the correct rate. Seems like the areas I seeded heavier are coming in nice and a little thin in between. Somewhat patchy. Any suggestions for seeders?

I really like a 6 1/2 to 7 foot ML action with a fast tip. Spooled with 6# fireline in the flame green color. In my experience this set up works great for pitching smaller jigs and lures. The braided line allows you to feel the lightest bites with smaller baits. St. Croix makes a number of nice rods that fit this presentation. It is tough to beat the premier, avid or legend elite series.

Ice is all gone. Hit a couple of lakes this afternoon for crappies. It was a little breezy out there but still managed a handful of fish. 45-47 degree surface temps. Fish were real scattered, caught them all in 5-7 feet.

Mojo’s one of St. Croix’s best sellers. I think they are pretty decent for the price. Bucketmouth1 please email me, I think I can help you out.

Here are a few places that I would recommend: Grand View Lodge, Samara Point Resort, and Gull Lake Resort. I think that these offer the nicest facilities on the lake.

Yeah, I think it is a great show. One of my friends from high school is on the MN show. He turned me on to it. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season goes.

In this field they have half of it in oats and the other half in corn. I may just set up on the edge of the corn. I’m thinking that should be good once the colder weather sets in. We’ll see I guess.
Jason Erlandson
I am in for sure. What a great site. Good luck to everyone in the drawing. I can’t wait to hear about the bruisers they will see in Bluff Country.

Thanks Rob, I see it was erased from my inbox at work. The check is on it’s way.

Hi Brad, Count me in for Gold Sponsor. I sent the request to your email. Just let me know. What an awesome oppportunity.

I’ll just need to make sure that I spray it good next year before I seed it down. Thanks.
Jason Erlandson
Yeah, I just wanted my offer to seem somewhat legit. I didn’t want to low ball the land owner. It is in the Mille Lacs are and I do not think that the lease rates would be on the high end. Do you guys think I should start with an offer of about $10 per acre?
Jason Erlandson
Thanks guys. So far we have been pretty lucky up in this part of the state for moisture. I have one more plot I’d like to get seeded down but the spot is still too wet. I need a few sunny days to dry it up a little. At least enough so we can run the disk on it.
Jason Erlandson
Crappies are really starting to pop here on the area lakes. Most lakes are going good now.
