Well, the August 1 Ride N Drive out of Copeland Park is a wrap but we’re not done with our Ride N Drives for the year. Not even close! Our next event will be held on Sep 10 – Sep 11 2009 at the Chippewa Flowage Musky Hunt in Hayward,WI. Mark this one on your calendars and if you are interested in attending and would like additional information on the event, give me a call. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

A special thanks go out to all of the Skeeter Pros in attendance at these events. They bring a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to answering any and all questions thrown there way by our guests and we couldn’t pull these Ride and Drives off without them! Thanks guys! Having a mix of experienced bass, walleye and muskie guys on hand that have a passion for sharing their knowledge of fishing, boats and electronics with all comers makes these events such an overwhelming success.

The Skeeter WX 2000T is one of the most popular boats at these events for two reasons. 1) it is one incredible fishing platform that catches everyone’s eye at the first glance. 2) we’ve equipped it with an 1197 Humminbird! For anyone that wants to experience side imaging technology this is the platform to do it in. The 2000T was sent out over and over with loads of boaters interested in the ride quality, roominess and handling characteristics of the big tiller as well as getting a chance to see exactly what side imaging from Humminbird is all about.

    Nobody returned disapointed.

Jimmy Johnson’s bass boat was a popular ride at this event. Here we have Jimmy returning from one of MANY laps with a guest interested in seeing what a Skeeter bass boat is all about.

The results are in. Nothing but smiles!

James Holst was in attendance and in this photo is just about to take out Rob Abe and son in this pic and we’re pretty sure that his son’s HUGE smile was in response to James telling him “I’ll drive us out. You get to drive us back.”

Word is that Rob’s son drove the 1950 like an old hand and knew exactly what the throttle was for and how to put it to good use.

Thanks for coming out. Its great to see kids out with their parents at the Ride N Drives.

We had guests of all ages and interests in attendance. Some were seasoned veterans. Many would get their first chance to drive a higher end boat. Regardless, we were happy to see so many people come out and take a spin in one of the boats on hand and experience for themselves the ride, fit and finish and overall quality that Skeeter Boats has to offer.

The Skeeter Boat Center registration tent was the first stop for anyone interested in a test drive. Safety is stressed at all of our Ride N Drive events so one of the first steps before getting behind the wheel is getting fitted with a life vest. Dan Meyer, manager of Skeeter Boat Center, is shown in this photo manning the tent and keeping everything organized and running smoothly.

Skeeter Boat Center does sell and install a variety of tools that anglers find valuable, including Trollmaster throttle controls, Humminbird and Lowrance electronics, Minn Kota trolling motors, and others. You can check out a brief article on the Trollmaster written by one of our Pro Staff members, Jason Halfen, at this link.

Our pricing on new accessories and installation is very competitive. We stand behind everything that we sell and install, and your satisfaction with our work is guaranteed. And Jason was correct in stating that many accessory installations can be done on a same-day basis with an appointment.

Skeeter Boat Center is a sponsor of In-DepthOutdoors, and a supporter of both recreational and competitive angling in the upper Midwest. Providing competitive pricing on boats, accessories and service work, in conjunction with outstanding customer service before, during and after the sale, are part of what we do to ensure that all of our current (and future!) customers enjoy their time on the water as much as possible.

Please contact us by PM here on IDO, or by phone at the number below, if we can help in any way. Thanks!

In reference to Skeeter factory service: I can say that in the year and half that Dave and I have been in business, we have found only good things with the warranty process with the factory in Kilgore. I know the answer to our warranty questions are always “fix it.”

Hope everyone is enjoying the start to spring. Have fun fishin.

    Maybe this will help:EMU30173
    Breaking in engine
Your new engine requires a period of break-in
to allow mating surfaces of moving parts to
wear in evenly. Correct break-in will help ensure
    proper performance and longer engine
    life.
    CAUTION:
    ECM00800
Failure to follow the break-in procedure
could result in reduced engine life or even
    severe engine damage.
    EMU27083
    Procedure for 4-stroke models
Your new engine requires a period of tenhours
break-in to allow mating surfaces of
moving parts to wear in evenly. Correct breakin
will help ensure proper performance and
    longer engine life.
    NOTE:
Failure to follow the break-in procedure could
result in reduced engine life or even severe
engine damage. Run the engine in the water,
under load (in gear with a propeller installed)
as follows. For ten hours for breaking in engine
avoid extended idling, rough water and
    crowded areas.
    1. For the first hour of operation:
Run the engine at varying speeds up to
2000 r/min or approximately half throttle.
    2. For the second hour of operation:
Increase engine speed as much as necessary
to put the boat on plane (but avoid
full-throttle operation), then back off on
the throttle while keeping the boat at a
    planing speed.
    3. Remaining eight hours:
Run the engine at any speed. However,
avoid operating at full throttle for more
than 5 minutes at a time.

An IDO member just got a great deal on the G3-Yamaha F50 combo. Congrats Mr. Steffen! We’re glad that we could help you get into a very nice boat for the 2009 season.

We still have the two smaller tillers listed above, and are always on the lookout for clean, quality trades from anglers who are moving into Skeeter walleye or bass boats. Keep us in mind for all of your boating needs!

All of us here at Skeeter Boat Center are excited to have James come over and talk to us about his extensive Mississippi River walleye experience.

The timing of James’ seminar is perfect. You will be able to put the tips you pick up at the seminar to almost immediate use, as walleyes move through spawning into the post-spawn dispersal period.

We look forward to seeing a bunch of IDO members and visitors at James’ seminar on March 19. If you have any questions, need directions, or just want to talk fishin’, please feel free to drop us an e-mail, a PM, or give us a ring.

    Thanks!

The snow in Chippewa Falls is melting quickly, and it’s time for someone to put these tillers to good use.

To make it easier for you to own a great Yamaha-powered tiller (still under factory warranty!), we’ve just reduced the price on our G3 tiller. Check it out! Test drives on this or any of our boats are available…especially now that the walleyes are gathering for their spring river ritual.

Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who attended our side-imaging seminars. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you again when our outstanding spring seminar series continues. Some of our future speakers include:

    • FLW and PWT champion Nick Johnson
    • IDO-TV host James Holst
    • BASS Federation angler and 2-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier Jimmy Johnson

Look for more information on our spring seminar series in the days to come. Thanks again, guys!

If the seminars, the boat tours, the chili, snacks, and drinks weren’t quite enough, Skeeter Boat Center went the extra mile and gave away a pair of brand new Humminbird 798C2-SI side imaging / GPS combos. New for 2009, these units feature a larger screen than the older 797C2-SI units and enhanced resolution for even sharper side images. Congrats to our two side imaging combo winners!

Dean Marshall and Skeeter Boat Center also provided a pair of brand new St. Croix Legend Xtreme / Pflueger reel combos that we gave away at the end of each seminar. These top-of-the-line combos will make their winners the envy of all of their fishing buddies. As our walleye pro Jason Halfen said at the seminars, “you only want to lend these combos to people you REALLY like.” Congrats to our Legend Xtreme/Pflueger combo winners!

We gave away a wide array of prizes to seminar attendees. All of the kids who attended left with jigs and plastics courtesy of Dean Marshall at Everts Resort and Skeeter Boat Center. Each young angler was also entered into a drawing for a brand new St. Croix rod / Shimano reel combo. Two kids left with new combos to enjoy for the 2009 open water season (which can’t arrive soon enough!).

That’s the full line-up of boats that we will have at Everts Resort for the October Ride-n-Drive event. If you can’t make it to these events, or if you’d rather test drive another Skeeter model, we offer individual test drives out of our facility in Chippewa Falls, WI. Send us a PM, drop us an e-mail, or call us at the number below to arrange for your own test drive. These test drives have been known to turn into evening fishing trips on local waters, so come prepared to be impressed by our line-up of Yamaha-powered Skeeter boats, and to get the string stretched at the same time!

Last, but certainly not least, is the SL-1900. This 19-foot boat is a dynamite blend of fishability and family fun. It will carry up to a 200 HP outboard, and was quite the rocketship when we drove the boat for the first time just a few weeks ago.

Easily seating 5 people behind the full windshield, the SL 1900 has well-designed storage for fishing equipment AND other necessities for family fun, like skis, ropes, and of course cold beverages in its built-in cooler. Your first spin in an SL-1900 will be just as impressive as ours was!
