I’m wide open for suggestions! I will be up at a cabin on Wapo the whole weekend… where else might you suggest?

Anybody fish Wappogasset(sp?) much? A buddy of mine has a cabin on the lake, never really caught much there. Any help with this lake would be much appreciated!
February 27, 2004 at 1:50 am #294342Hey Mike! No, I really haven’t been out much- working a lot though. Yipee! Anyway, the past 2 times i’ve been out I have been to Waconia- pretty much just small crappies, with a few 12″+ fish mixed in… I did clean out the garage the other day and got the boat one step closer to heading down to the river! Man… this working stuff is enough to kill a guy!
February 7, 2004 at 1:56 am #291780Maxxum… I have owned both, MinnKota is the way to go! I have 4-5 buddies that have the Maxxum too, all of them love them too. You just can’t go wrong. On the flip side, I am very curious to see how Motor Guide does with the new PTS or whatever they call it; the old Pinpoint technology. I would strongly reccomend the Maxxum- with the longest shaft you can get.
January 28, 2004 at 11:42 pm #290590I was told that the Reel Bottom paper maps are exactly what you see on your GPS… that’s what I’m looking for.
January 28, 2004 at 11:26 pm #290582I have “heard” that the Reel Bottom chips/software… is extremely accurate and that is the way to go… have you used their paper maps and pulled coordinates off of there? I did on Leech and they were dead nuts on…
January 28, 2004 at 11:19 pm #290579I believe it’s the NavChart… it’s the newer(1yr+) one that has like 120 lakes or something- regional chip I think they called it. Just seems relatively inaccurate. What’s your experience?
January 22, 2004 at 10:24 pm #289708I hear ya Mike… seems to be a bunch of people catching a few little fish. Oh well, just think… only 114 days until opener! ICK! Wow, only trying to make a joke and I just bummed myself out! Sorry. Anyway, on that note, see ya out there I guess…
January 19, 2004 at 7:53 pm #289224Well, we didn’t make it out until late afternoon yesterday… and man was it COLD! We got set up on a 16- 20′ break and dropped the camera down… PERCH EVERYWHERE! These walleyes are eating good. I bet there was over 100 perch below the house- simply incredible, I don’t think I have ever seen so many perch. We ended up with 6 walleyes and a hammer handle northern- and of course a few perch. All of the walleyes were between 10-13″. What happened to all of the big girls? Anyone else do anything this weekend?
January 12, 2004 at 4:07 pm #288284I was out Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we got a few walleyes in about 19’… 24″ being the biggest. We also got a few smaller eaters. Sunday we went out and tried a bit deeper- like 25′- NOTHING! Didn’t even mark one fish on the Vex.
December 30, 2003 at 5:01 pm #286875Thanks Mike… I will give that a try. I am not able to get out as much as i’d like to… so I might not be able to make it out until Thursday. I am headed up to Mille Lacs for the weekend- pretty pumped about that.
December 29, 2003 at 9:59 pm #286785Doesn’t anyone make it out anymore? LOL I made it out again out of Excelsior Bay… apparently someone told somebody they were biting out there! There were plenty of fishermen… but no walleyes! Between a few hours on Friday night, and most of the day Saturday we managed to get a whole 3 walters…
I think I need to scope out a new area… hmmm.
On a brighter note- I hear they been getting some crappies out on Waconia. Another fish house city over there too I’m sure.December 29, 2003 at 4:48 pm #286748Thanks Scott… do you think the ice will be okay for driving by the weekend? Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks!
December 22, 2003 at 4:13 pm #286091Well, we made it out early on Sunday morning… caught a couple walleyes(14″ and 16″)and several snakes. The action wasn’t too good. Just about all of the fish came between 6:45 and 7:30. After that, it was all dink perch. We put the camera down for a while- man there are a lot of perch down there! Anyone else get out?
December 19, 2003 at 4:25 pm #285274Thanks guys… I will let you know how it goes. I am trying to get out tomorrow morning too!
December 16, 2003 at 12:23 am #285267Nice report Scott! Hey, a few of us were just talking about coming up that way Jan 1-3… what kind of options do you have for us? Let me know!
August 27, 2003 at 5:47 pm #274428Thanks for the response James… I saw a bunch of people around the head of the lake a couple weekends ago. I figured something must have been going on there. So nothing on the lake huh? Bogus Point area pullin’ cranks?
August 15, 2003 at 4:27 pm #273485Real nice job Jarrad! I really appreciate your information. I will give it a try this weekend and let everyone know how I did on Monday. Thanks again!
August 15, 2003 at 3:17 pm #273475Thanks Jon, I have read that… so I guess I have some idea, but can anyone tell me more specifics? Should I be casting crankbaits to the face of the wingdam? Should I be using livebait? What might I expect for depths? Can I go over the top of most of them with my boat? Are they marked at all? Hmmm…
August 14, 2003 at 3:11 pm #273341Thanks for the info… Jon is the get together open to anyone? Is that on Saturday?
Also, how do I get a pic on the side of my post like you guys? Tried a JPEG, didn’t seem to work?
