Dan is not just a “good” person, he is a “great” person.

If his posts and pics bother you, don’t click on his reports. If that doesn’t work, then don’t bother with the internet.

The Mississippi forum is turning into the St. Croix forum…

Let me make a few comments since I went to Ferry Landing for the first time ever on Sunday.

There’s a sign that says no parking from the hill all the way down to the river. Most people, including myself unloaded gear on the ice and parked uphill at the park. There were a few cars parked with their rear wheels on the ice and front ones on the sand, and this was only where there was no open water. Hopefully by then, the ice firms up and makes complete parking on the ice possible. Otherwise, the walk downhill is not bad, but going up really sucks.

Over in Bayport by the park, there’s a small lot with about 10-12 close and more parking a few hundred feet away. There is no drive on access and after you unload, you will have to pull your equipment down a short grass decline and over small rocks. Pulling my gear back up did take some long-lost cardio.

As for ice, on the WI and MN, I found a consistent 9″, and this was over a couple different 40′ holes.

If you need an additional scout to help punch holes and cover area, just let me know. I’m 10 minutes from Bayport.

    FYI,

Jane was 8-9″ all over. No fish unless you like an occasional 4″ perch or potato chip sunny.

Powernoodles won’t be ready anytime soon, but they have a solution. They are carrying a new line of rods that is very similar.

I wouldn’t call that a solution but rather an alternative.

They actually have some nice stuff, but not in bulk. Some of it is graded, too. LMK if you need entry, and I can take you in to have a look. Cash only since I can’t take an IOU.

Sam’s Club has some decent ice. Picked up a nice set of diamond earings there last year.

I picked up a used SLII with composite blade, and over the weekend, it did not want to pull me into the ice like my brother’s LazerMag with solo does…

Last line in the article…”A 71 year old man fell through the ice twice on Mille Lacs…” How do you fall through the ice “Twice”? …RR

I read on a different news site that he was on his atv and fell in. Got out, headed towards shore and fell through. Not his lucky day for sure…

Which gray suit? The Frabill Suit and the FXE SnoSuit are both gray.

Here’s the order going from warm to warmest (including colors) for the Frabill winter suits:

Suit (grey) < IceSuit (black) < SnoSuit (grey and red)

I purchased the “Suit” from Reeds during BF because they lised it as an “IceSuit”. It is not. My brother owns a black IceSuit and it is much more insulated. The grey “Suit” has a thin lining. After arguing with the Reeds CSR that its not an IceSuit, he reluctantly gave me a UPS return label but still called it an “IceSuit”. I still got a full refund plus the shipping fee. They still have it listed as an “ICESUIT” on their site. Reeds is WRONG (online) but their paper catalog is correct. But if you still want one, Glens has it for $20 less than Reeds.

I could not pull the trigger, on Friday and Sunday, on a matching FXE SnoSuit jacket to go with the bibs, at the show last weekend, despite the great price. Could not get past the short cut and extra long sleeves. Looking forward to using the bibs very soon though.

Been with Directv over a year. I signed up through Costco’s website and got a $180 Costco gift card, even though I’m not a Costco member (it’s only a $120 gc now). Was a Directv customer back when it first came out, so I knew what to expect. I’m satisfied, but am still paying about $100 for Choice Xtra (1 HD-DVR, 2 HD, and 1 regular box). Kept my Comcast internet at $52/month because DSL where I live is only 1.5 megs.

    Pros:
The HD quality is better, and there are a lot more HD channels. Like others have said, the DVR has much more memory and the ability to watch your recording from any other HD box in the house it great. Lower monthly fees for additional boxes (Comcast really gets you on the additional HD boxes).

    Cons:
There have been a few blackouts due heavy rain and thunderstorms. Sometimes the wet snow sticks to the dish, so I use a long pole to tap it off. On-demand is not as good as Comcast because you have to download programs to your dvr (which takes time) versus instantly watching it on Comcast, and for kids, there is much more content/programs on Comcast. Discounts are quirky as some are for the 1st year only. 2 year contract.

How well do you know the seller? Are they on a forum and do they have a good rep or a lot of posts there? Have you spoke with the person over the phone?

I’ve purchased car parts and items, outside of ebay, from online forums, but only from people who have somewhat high post counts, been with the site for some time, maybe have established vouches from prior transactions, etc…

I also take into consideration the the amount of savings I would get versus buying new, rareness of the item, and even the possibility of getting screwed.

Ive worked 25 years within 2 blocks of that place and never heard of it!!! The building is old and under constant renovation. Probalby nice. Don’t know.

If you just need a place to crash, I would also check Crown Plaza or Radison. Both have skyway access to the X. Never need to go outside.

    -J.

    J,

There is no skyway access to the X. However, according to the map, there is a tunnel, between Market and St. Peter, that supposedly gets you to the RiverCenter/X. Never used it, so cannot confirm.

I forgot to check/charge on the FL20 ultrapack, that I just bought from FF in January and used til mid-March, until June and the battery was dead as a door nail. The master switch was off the entire 3 months, but the battery completely drained and would not re-charge. I ended up buying a new 7 amphour one at the TB portable event. I didn’t need a new charger, so the Vex Sportman’s battery (9 AH) and charger combo, which is ridiculously overpriced, was not an option.

BTW, my LX5’s battery, which was not connected to the battery meter/charger thing, was at a solid 98%.

I tried a number of times to order the fish board and it comes up at regular price.

You need to select the 32″ x 12″ board for the $14.99 deal. The smaller 24″ board is still regular price.

BTW, I ordered 3. 1 for me and 2 for gifts.
