I have found some in Kearney and they are $4.99 also!

Multipowered scopes not only will allow hunters to more accurately place shots, they will effectively double the lethal range of the rifles to about 250 yards.
Baloney…if you’re shooting round balls out of a .50 cal the end of the world is about 100 yards away, I don’t care what you can see beyond that. The low ballistic coefficient of a round ball means it’s slowed down a lot after 100 yards. It would be irresponsible, in my opinion, to take a longer shot than that with such a weapon.
If you were throwing conical shaped bullets then yes you have longer range…but you also have a trajectory that looks like the McDonalds golden arches. How many of us can really see the difference between 120 yards and 170 yards?
Just because you can see it doesn’t mean you can it right. A Hawken rifle with a scope on it? Yuck….

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!!!
I really feel bad for the “few” spike bucks that make it through the Firearm season. They don’t stand a chance now!!August 13, 2007 at 3:15 pm #599451Day 2 ended up being tougher than day one as only 13 teams brought fish to the scales. Many teams may have harvested their day 2 catch or released their fish since they were out of the money.
The leader board did make a change after the second day. The team of Jeff Mekelburg and Ev Tarrell passed the day one leaders to win the tournament and cash the $6500.00 first place prize. Day one leaders Korey Perry and Kevin Jenny fell to second place. The third place team of Robert Purcell and Ken Jindra held their position with that seven pounder mentioned in an earlier post. The team finishing fourth was probably the most fun for me. Chuck Craig and his 8 year old son,Hunter, brought 7.74 pounds to the scale on day two catapulting them from 11th place to fourth, to cash the $1600.00 prize. The cool part was that Hunter caught both fish on day 1, which set them up for the oppurtunity to cash a check.
I will have all the results and a report up on the http://www.fishtowin.com website sometime in the next 6 to 12 hours.August 11, 2007 at 10:59 pm #598466Day 1 is closed and the day ended quite a bit tougher than it started. There are 47 teams in the tourney and 18 teams weighed fish on day one. 36 fish were scaled with an average just under 4 pounds per fish.
The stakes are quite high as the payout for the top four boats is 95%. First place will cash a $6500.00 check, second is $3000.00, third $2000.00, and fourth $1650.00.The current standings are as follows.
1. Kevin Jenny/Korey Perry 20.94lbs
2. Jeff Mekelburg/Ev Tarrell 15.50lbs
3. Robert Purcell/Ken Jindra 13.08lbs
4. Blaine Presley/Nick Presley 9.43lbs
5. Bill Mueller/John Mueller 8.91lbs
6. Jeremy Martensen/Randy Johannsen 8.10lbs
7. Troy Glover/ Rob Lee 7.45.lbs
8. Leland Bailey/Andy VanCampen 7.20lbs
9. Ronnie Snyder/John Flaherty 6.40lbs
10. Lonnie Snyder/Ronnied Snyder 5.85lbs
11. Chuck Craig/Hunter Craig 5.49lbs
12. Matt Wissing/Chris Wissing 5.43lbs
13. Brad Dush/Clint Spath 5.29lbs
14. Jerry Leece/Rick Bishop 5.02lbs
15. Roberto Martinez/Aaron Dillon 4.28lbs
16. Ron Green/Seth Green 3.75lbs
17. Ray Salvatore/Luke Eachus 1.55.lbs
18. Ryan Vowers/Jason Vowers 1.46lbsUnfortunately as of today the Mullet has not done its job. The remainder of the teams didn’t catch any keepers. There are lots of catfish, white bass, and smallmouths being caught at the lake. Its a great time to be at beautiful lake McConaughy.
The teams are listed on http://www.fishtowin.com.August 11, 2007 at 5:27 pm #599120Hey Guys,
I’m floating my boat on Big Mac and thought I would give you a real time update.
The bite has been tough the last few days, but today seems to be a different story. Four hours into the tourney we have seen some very nice fish at the scales. Several 3 to 4 pounders, four over 6pounds and one 8.77lb HAWG. The final flight will be in at 2:20 this afternoon. We launched at 6:00am to try and beat the heat today. As of right now the team to catch is gonna be Kevin Jenny and Corey Perry, at 11:00am they brought four fish to the scales weighing in at 19.05lbs!!! I personnally scaled them, so that is the correct weight. I have not seen Ben and Pete today so I don’t know their story. I will check in later today.August 7, 2007 at 2:51 pm #597712Ben,
Leland and I will be taking both boats out on thursday morning. There should be plenty of teams from Colorado there, as half of the field is CO boats and a lot of the teams I’ve talked to have been there since Saturday.
There are seven states represented as of this morning, which makes the Nebraska teams, almost, the minority .It looks like we are not going to reach the magical number of 125. So as of today we are planning on paying out over 90%, which will make the cash prizes very good.
I’ll see you out there, hope you get some of the good fish found .

Neither the State Farm Open or the Fisher Classic spots for the Cabela’s NTC come out of the NWT’s allocated spots. All spots for the NWT are based on the numbers of anglers fishing tournaments for any individual circuit. I do think that Cabela’s is changing their allocation format this year, so the NWT may get more or they may get less spots. One thing is for sure, Ben and Pete are qualified already(through the State Farm Open) and the winners of the Fisher Classic will be qualified.Just a reminder the Fisher Roofing Walleye Classic is just a few weeks away so get your entry forms in.
June 15, 2007 at 1:30 am #580680Chris,
Believe it or not, we were west bound on I-80, and you were east bound. If I remember right, it was somewhere around Grand Island. I must not have been paying attention to my driving duties, or I’m very observant. I can’t believe I was able to focus on much of anything as I was on, about, my seventh hour at the wheel. Hope to see you at Merritt or the Fisher Classic.June 14, 2007 at 8:59 pm #580631Chris,
Glad your back home safe and without venimous snake bites. I thought I would let you know that the decals on your windshield must be working. As leland and I were on our way home from Green Bay, I noticed your boat east bound on I-80, all because of the National Guard decals on the windshield .Tell your partner not to feel to bad about being sick on day two. I did that on day two of the 2006 Tradewinds marina tournament, the only problem was it was self inflicted . The biggest problem was that we were in first place after day one, so Leland was ready to put me out of my misery . We finished the tournament in sixth place .
June 13, 2007 at 12:24 am #580060Guys,
Thanks for the accolades! I have had very little time to get on the computer and see what has been going on, let alone make a post. For some reason when a person is gone for a week, the real world doesn’t just stop.I do have plans on writing a report of what Leland and I did at Green Bay, and I will also post some pictures, so hopefully I will get some time real soon and get that done.
I can tell you, when we saw our names on the first page of the leader board, we were absolutely ecstatic. Leland and I have spent a lot of time enjoying the Great Outdoors, but this entire event is the coolest thing we’ve ever done togethe. We’ve been fishing tournaments together for five years, which to those who know us is hard to believe. I would not have wanted to share the stage with any other fisherman, so my congratulations go out to my partner Leland Bailey, I couldn’t have, nor would have wanted to, do it without him.
May 23, 2007 at 1:45 pm #574121Looked like lots of rain, from west of Ogallala to east of Grand Island. I know we had great rain in Kearney. We are supposed to get 2 to 4 inches tonight in the Kearney area. Last night, there were flash flood warnings throughout central Nebraska. Sure would expect Harlan and Big Mac to see some sort of benefit.
Does the state of Nebraska get credit for all the run off that is making it’s way into Kansas? Sure would be nice to get a bunch of the water deficit taken care of before irrigation season.
May 21, 2007 at 12:56 pm #573189KP,
Welcome to In-Depth angling! I hope we see you at the tournament. You never know, instead of Montana, you might be in Alaska! I hope all is going well out there, keep in touch. BillMay 15, 2007 at 2:59 pm #571344Jason-in picking the date, I tried to skip all PWT and FLW dates so we could have a chance at some of you guys making it. Hope it works out. Good luck the rest of the season.
May 8, 2007 at 1:16 pm #569008The results to the 11th annual Rose Placzek Memorial walleye tournament are up at Nebraska Walleye Trails website http://www.nwtrail.org click on the tournaments tab.
May 8, 2007 at 1:10 pm #569005Jason,
Congratulations on your ninth place finish. I wish we could have found a keeper or two. Lots and lots of 17″ walleye, would have been a great day to have some kids in the boat. The results of the tournament are up at http://www.nwtrail.org, under the tournaments link.May 4, 2007 at 1:47 pm #567818I don’t get to go until Saturday morning. My sister decided, after six years of college , it was time to graduate. So today I am throwing a graduation party at my shop. If anybody is in town feel free to stop by, my party wagon throws one of the best partys around.
May 3, 2007 at 9:43 pm #567619The site is only going to get better with time. We had to rush things a little bit to get it up and running. If you have any ideas send me a pm.
I can’t wait to write the press release for the Rose, it’s time to put my name in the headlines “Seibert and Beetle win the Rose”April 24, 2007 at 9:41 pm #564163Lance,
The great Sherman Legend goes something like this. Bsfishman and his brother were fishing the State Farm Open walleye tournament. On day one they had caught a 28 7/8″ walleye about mid-morning. Since they were concerned about the fish living they brought the piggy to the scale trailer and weighed it in. A couple hours later they had caught a 26″ walleye, concerned for its well being they brought it to the scales also. Now they have their two fish over 22″ in one day weighed in. So naturally one of them had to catch a monster, and that is exactly what happened. Story has it, the next fish they caught was well over 30″, since they had their 2 over 22″ they had to release it . The funny part of the story, if you know these two brothers, is that bsfishman was so shook up he wouldn’t take a picture of his brother with the “beast” . I don’t blame fishman, the brother has more trophy’s than most of us can shake a stick at . The truly sad part is that fish could have been worth a large chunk of change, and these two guys are definately deserving of such a payout.April 24, 2007 at 6:32 pm #564082BSfishman,
are you the same guy that wouldn’t take a picture of your tournament partner, when he (aka your brother) caught the biggest walleye of his fishing lifetime . Shame on you, it’s a good thing other tournament anglers saw it or we might have to think you really are the “BSfishman”. HAHAHAHAApril 22, 2007 at 10:08 pm #563409The website http://www.fishtowin.com is up and running. The results for the State Farm Open are posted there.
April 18, 2007 at 9:34 pm #562251Hey guys,
Wow has this been a long week or what. Right now is the first time I’ve had time to sit down and reply to anything on IDA. Let me start out by saying THANK YOU, to all the IDA members that fished the State Farm Open. The fishing people from this site, were a great help in making this tounament the success I hope it was. It was fantastic to meet the guys from IDA at the tournament and it’s great to have a face to put to the names.
I hope everbody had a great tournament, and felt like the tournament was run well and worth their time. I’m always looking to improve on anything I’m involved with, so feel free to P.M. with any ideas or suggestions.
CONGRATULATIONS to Ben and Pete!!! Fine job!! The State Farm Open couldn’t have had a better team win the inaugural event. These two guys are great for the sport of tournament walleye fishing. There will be an article in the Lincoln Journal Star, in the outdoor section, this weekend. There will also be one in the Hickman weekly newspaper.
Keep checking the website http://www.fishtowin.com for the final results and information about the State Farm Open. This tournament will be on Lewis & Clark in 2008.
Thanks again to everyone.April 11, 2007 at 2:41 am #559374There is going to be 4 flights, with 15 minute intervals. Hopefully this snow stays away, we don’t need to delay on Saturday morning.
April 10, 2007 at 6:05 pm #559177Weigh ins on Saturday start at 3:30p.m. on Sunday the first flight will be in at 2:30p.m. Jr. will be in the last flight on Sunday.
April 9, 2007 at 6:13 pm #5587904″ per day. Should have another foot and a half by launch time Saturday morning.
April 9, 2007 at 6:09 pm #558795Zach,
Talk about not sleeping!!!!I haven’t been this nervous for something in a long time. I’ll be dottin’ the ‘eyes, and crossin’ the t’s, all week. Lets go fishin’.
Sounds like a lot of IDA guys are fishing the tournament. Can’t get much better than this!!April 6, 2007 at 2:03 am #557744Even Mother Nature can’t put a damper on this tournament! The weather forecast seems to change about every 4 hours or so. The only weather I don’t want to see is freezing temperatures(PWT at Chamberlain). I remember a few years ago before the Ice Out tourney @ Sherman, it hailed like crazy before day one of the tournament, that was interesting. Be sure and introduce yourselves to me at the rules meeting, looking forward to seeing everybody on Friday the 13th. FYI, as of 4-4-07 we are up to 88 teams.
March 29, 2007 at 2:32 pm #554701Guys,
As of 3-27-07, we were at 78 teams in the tourney. We have not made definate plans to stop at 100. We are going to make the decision on the number of teams based on water levels. If the water level rises enough to use more of the boat launches, we will alllow more teams to participate. I personally would love to see a field of 120 teams. In past years, the Trade Winds Ice Out tourney fielded between 110 and 120 boats, which made for a great start to the tourney season. I do want to clarify one thing, the first place payout will remain at $10,000.00, no matter how many boats. We will be paying 1 out of every 10 teams, 120 teams = 12 places paid. There will also be a $40.00 option pot buy in, and a $10.00 big fish buy in. Black Hawk Marine is also donating cash for the big fish pot, so Big Fish will pay quite nicely.March 20, 2007 at 2:18 am #550671Zach,
Beetle said the water temperature was 50 degrees. They were fishing near the damn. I’m still jealous!! I spent the weekend doing honey-do’s.
