The same thing happened to my Tournament Partner last year during a tournament. He sent the lip portion back with an explanation and got a new one in the mail. It took awhile but they replaced it.ScottS

Try the Loch side of the Dam, 18-21 ft of water. You will see the fish on your graph. I would recommend vertical jigging. Not a lot of Big fish in there but good numbers.ScottS

Last I heard there were two tournaments on Pool 4 this weekend. If you are going to be fishing the weekend you may want to consider pool 5.ScottS

I have my WAAS enabled on my map 76 but I can honestly say that I have never actually seen it operating in WAAS mode. I have fished pretty much the entire state with it. Anybody else have any luck with WAAS in MN?ScottS

I use off shore boards. I also use off shore snap weights. If you are having trouble with super lines slipping try the clips that come with the snap weight system (Red Ones), they hold real good.ScottS

I want to throw a plug in for the Garmin MAP 76. You may spend a little more for it but the additional features are very nice, including that is is water proof. I looked at a lot of units before I purchased and for fishing the MAP 76 seemed to fit my needs the best!ScottS

I think a C&R season would cost the area financially due to all the early tournaments that couldn’t be held. Tough to have a tournament if you can’t keep any fish. I believe a slot would be well received as it is pretty much becoming common place on most of the good walleye fisheries. Just my opinion.ScottS

Fireflick, you are right. That is what I was told. The entire fish is dissolved in some type of chemical and then the amount of contaminants left are what is used to come up with the numbers. However, I am sure most of you can’t remember the last time you fried up a couple walleye heads or dorsal fins. Due to gravity most of your contaminants will be in the belly meat. If you are concerned about eating the fish out of a particular body of water: 1) Check the DNR consumption report 2) Don’t eat the head, fins, tail and guts 3) leave a little belly meat when you are cleaning the fish.

Most of our lakes and rivers are much safer then you would think.ScottS

Well I guess I will be using right handed line counters then. You guys that are sponsored by Diawa should stay after them. There are a few of us odd balls out here.ScottS

So, who makes a good left handed Line Counter Reel? I have been looking for some time but have not had any luck. I want a good reel, but I also want it Left Handed. Anyone else found a good one. ScottS

Good topic. I am right handed and years ago when I bought my first baitcaster I bought a Left handed one. It just “felt” right. I had always used spinning reels before this and now I am glad I bought a left handed baitcaster. For me it feels totally natural. I reel all my reels with my left hand and cast with my right. It is really nice if you are the one running the boat all the time, especially when flat lining cranks. I have to agree with the the people that are truely left handed, there just isn’t the equipment selection available to right handers. Oh yes, you can have it custome made–get out your wallet!ScottS

Thanks guys. Luckily I do have both, but like I said, I am new to the river but plan to be down there quite a bit at the end of March and April. Anything else you want to share with me would be appreciated. We are going to start on Pool 4, I hope that is a good choice. Any thoughts?

Thanks Paul, That is what I thought, but you never know. I thought maybe you needed some special tag to get in on that great river walleye fishing. You will have to forgive me, I am a lake guy.

I am new to this site and even newer to River Fishing. I have a question. What is a boat tag? Maybe a dumb question but I have no idea.
