Thanks for the link! We fly out of Red Lake and go 50 miles NW. It’s hard to beat 50-100 fish days. Yes, all the way from Texas, about 10 miles north of the US/Mex border to be exact. I’m flying to WI to meet family, then driving the rest of the way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will start putting them to use. I can’t wait to see it all come together…something that will be very rewarding experience.

yellowdog – I will try your suggestions tonight. Thanks.

mudshark – you are correct. Not much water down here, except for the ocean about 60 miles away. I do have a swimming pool in my backyard, although the VET advised against a daily swim as the chemicals might cause problems with her skin.

I live in McAllen TX, about 60 miles west of SPI. (Moved here from WI 2 years ago). Here is a link with some names and phone numbers of charters out of SPI. http://www.sopadre.com/fishing.asp

I’ve been on the Osprey before, took the 8 hour trip. Pretty reasonable (about $60 if I remember correctly), includes tackle, bait and lunch. Boat goes out 15 miles or so (2 hours out – 2 hours back. Only 4 hours fishing. Make sure you have your sea legs, I spent most of the time chumming!. About 40 people/boat, saw lots of fish caught, including a 6′ shark.

If you need any other info, let me know and I can get it for you.

I fished Lil MO, Big MO and Spring Lake area all day Saturday and Sunday AM. Caught about 30 nice gills ranging from 8-9″. Lots of little ones too. Had to work hard for them jumping from hole to hole. The best bite seemed to be the 1-5pm time frame. Green/yellow seemed to be the color that worked for me.

Fished north of Hwy. 82 in Pool 9 on Sunday after and caught 6 decent crappies and bluegills. Fished Spring Lake this morning and not a bite. Many people fishing there, but everyones report was the same – nothing. Quite a few people fishing Cold Springs Sunday late afternoon, heard good reports but never fished it.

Any word on the ice conditions near the Spring Lake area on Pool 10, about 4 miles south of Lock and Dam 10? Heading over this weekend and would like to know. Thanks in advance.
