It sure is great to have a population of huntable birds up in our area. I come to the conclusion they are the dumbest bird in the world right up until you want to shoot one! Nice job! Get one for you pops now!

Don’t blame the manufacture for poor storage and bad fuel. If there truly is a carb problem call the manufacture and get it to a service center. Most of them have no problem fixing them.
January 26, 2014 at 10:34 am #1383167Dirtball,
Mike has shown his age and came down with “allegedly” the bird flue and he could not make it last minute. This is our typical guys trip and it pretty set. We have the girls trip coming up this weekend and then and only then will it be the dirtball trip! You on the schedule trust me!January 26, 2014 at 10:32 am #1383166To sum it up the conditions on the lake for travel are less than ideal. Not impossible but less than ideal. Bring the proper equipment to get unstuck. I would love to hear a great report when you get back but I would play it safe and head for Bell Horn.
January 16, 2014 at 7:46 am #1380185Joe E, Medford Wi, my annual trip there will take place in a week or two, Hickory Nutz! You might beat our prices but you cant beat our meat!
December 17, 2013 at 11:39 am #1372015That again Joe would be the first time I have ever heard that? I have been running them for 5 years and never had a half full bottle. Purchasing a quality propane bottle is the responsibility of the owner not the manufacture. If you spend $500 on an auger spend $3 on good fuel.
You will get 250 holes through 24″ of ice on the average. I have drilled 400 holes through 8″-24″ of ice. All on (1) 1lb cylinder.
The Pro-4 lite has a single ripper blade compared to the Pro-4 that has (3) blades. (1) on the flat and (2) on the point. The other main difference is the motor size due to the blade configuration.
The only bad was on the Gen 1 motors were the fuel rail system was replaced. Everything sold today is a Gen 3 motor. You can tell by the regulator attaching directly to the bottle. Pro-4 lites are new this year with no issues. I have heard of a few propane line crimps that have leaked.
December 2, 2013 at 11:03 am #1368084There is only one knife used by good processing people. They will almost always be a version of this:
Forschner Boning Knife, VF-40517 2 16.95
Curved, Flexible, Fibrox,6 in.Do a quick search and you will not be disappointed.
November 8, 2013 at 6:09 pm #1204815I have run a propane auger since there inception. I have never seen or heard of one starting on fire? Its propane and if “this person” did not tighten his connection to the tank or had a leak due to misuse then yes he could of maybe had a fire. I just cant believe there wasn’t user error involved. Warm like batteries? Not a chance. My auger is purposely left outside just to see if it will start in frigid temps. It would be no different than your 20lb tank freezing? It has to be damn cold for that to happen. I fish in weather like that and I see a small handful of people out there fishing with me. Jiffy Pro-4 Lite takes care of the weight problem.
This is obviously a ford/chevy thing but I can tell you the facts because I run one. The factory says 250 holes through 24″ of ice on one tank. If you start drilling with 12″ of ice the tank will go into the 400 hole mark.
October 30, 2013 at 5:11 pm #133407Also… don’t even think about NOT registering the quad…. It will only end up as trouble down the road…..
October 30, 2013 at 5:09 pm #133406They will have a card/sticky back Like a fishing license from the DMV/DNR. On the top will say ” ATV Class 1 Vehicle Registration” Under his/her signature there is:
line #3
3. For transfer of license, the buyer must submit an application/bill of sale with the transfer fee within 15 days. (available at Deputy Registrar Offices)October 9, 2013 at 4:50 pm #132620I am using a Stihl FS80 for the exact purpose you want to use it for. I have had great luck! I take this thing out once a year just to cut lanes and break a few new trails. The only trouble I have had was a recoil this year and slightly bent shaft. The shaft was bent due to a dull blade and swinging it to hard to cut the brush. I think it comes with a star or square looking blade which will work but if you update get the one that looks like a skill saw blade. It is easy to sharpen in the field with a flat file and will last.

Call them and let them know what happened and they will have a new one out in no time. If your doughting me do a search and it will be obvious that this is not a problem.
January 9, 2013 at 12:01 pm #1128516The curse of big sandy! What you catch one day is gone the next!
January 2, 2013 at 7:57 pm #1126187We will see you tonight at class Lars! I need a new rod like I need a hole in the head…..
December 28, 2012 at 12:31 pm #1124638I am willing to see what the new walleye/sunfish slot is going to do for the lake. I am not convinced it will ever be the next Mille Lacs. I just dont think there was that many people keeping 10-12 in walleyes to impact the population that hard. I am also not saying it didnt happen. I see it more with the panfish population. When a spot turns on it gets fished until there gone….
Big pike! Yep there in there. There is a set of guys that won the McGregor contest almost every year with pike. You just have to dedicate yourself to fishing them and cast until your arm hurts! You will weed through hundreds of snakes!
Why am I still there? Here is what a typical day goes like:
Up early and eather hit Big Sandy or something close
11ish we do a lunch unload the boat, reload the boat with tubes and floaties and head for the sandbar on Big Sandy.
Back in around 4ish start making supper unload the boat, reload the boat with walleye gear and head to a neighboring lake for walleyes.
Come back in the evening sometime pending the bite and there is a campfire on the corner and toss back a few cold ones.
Next day “Rinse and Repeat!”
The whole family can enjoy this site and area.
December 27, 2012 at 2:36 pm #1124313There was 8-9 inches were I was. I did not travel the entire lake.

November 9, 2012 at 6:01 pm #126521I have quit the copenhagen for almost 8 years and if it wasnt for Smokey Mountain herbal snuff it would of never happened. My big thing was when my at that time 11 year old son looked at me and said ” I can wait till I grow up and start chewing like you dad”. Threw it away that day and never went back.
