I definately agree with HYBES, CATCH AND RELEASE is very important in order to insure the future of big trout, let them big ones go. Many times when I pull in a big trout, right before I let it go, I compare the size of it to a stick, in case I feel like measuring it and have forgotten a tape measure. But if you wanted to mount that “big trout” just take a picture and get a replica of the trout, if you think about it, it is even better than keeping the fish, because you know somebody else has a chance to catch that big one!!! If you feel like keeping trout, 10-14 in is perfect, any bigger, and the trout tends to get a little mushy, just like keeping a 5lb walleye or bigger!!! Take Care!!!

I usually fish the north branch of White water, here in Southeastern Minnesota. I also fish the middle branch, and a bunch of other little streams that branch off from those. The fishing has been great!!!

Trout opener was fantastic, I fished part of the north branch in Whitewater, Mn. It was on private land, and the fishing was great, I caught 17 trout, biggest was a 17 1/2 inch brown, not too big, but he put up a hell of a fight!!! The other 16 trout were nice sized fish, bigger than 10in and less than 16. I also went fishing last weekend, May 4th, and the fish were once again bitting hard, I took Swany, fishing and of course out fished him!!! Trout fishing is the 8th wonder of the world!!!!

Oh, for sure, one of the best is the FireTiger ShadRap, but only the deep runner, I haven’t tried the floater. I have slaughtered fish on it time and time again. Good Luck!!

I know that Swany, a buddy of the pool 4 reporter, Dusty, is a fantastic cook!!! It’s his profession, and I have ate some of his walleye that he has cooked up on several occasions. Batter fried Walleye w/a hint of lemon was the best walleye I have ever eaten and he was the one to cook it. Contact him for his recipes on walleye or anything else possible to cook!!!! [email protected]

    Good eaten,
