Might end up being a good way to get a good buy on an alumie & etec combo. I would want an etec anyway if I were buying a new rig.

The winter I lived in MN it did! A wall of snow down the drive.

The snow intel I gathered on Oahe and Waubay didn’t look that bad. Pierre showed dryer than Webster.

Must have been a rare year. Those of us that snowmobile wish every winter here in MN was like that, but most years are FAR more moderate. The last 2 winters have sucked as far as snow totals (minimal). Barley snowed.

Seems like it is always super windy in SD and ND, so even moderate snow storms can turn into full fledged drifting blizzards. I would look at MN if I were you. ;)

I have no idea why someone would keep Smallies when you can catch Lakers, Walleyes and Pike in the same area.

maybe they were from Iowa. )

Am I reading this right….is it saying that it might stay just a shade below the dreaded 83′?? If so, have you ever seen them slap the no-wake on for being so close?

How can you sell over 900,000.00 worth of beer at 8.00 per glass and lose 16,000.00? Unbelievable. Government at its finest.

Saw the story this morning and about puked. That is so pathetic and is a great indicator of how efficient government is. Can you imagine how much a private operator would have profited if given the opportunity? And to think there are people who support gov’t healthcare.

Every two stroke motor you have should have sea foam run through it. You can just add it to the gas.

I once heard that the safety shut off on the buddy heater is like a hair trigger. Bump it slightly or sneese on it and it shuts it down. Said it can be a pain at times.
    Any truth to that?

It is pretty sensitive, but imo that is a good thing. They are easy to re-light (unless you are outside in high winds).

I really enjoy making a nice living in Minnesota only to return home to Hudson and spend a large part of it on WI sports teams and events.
Oooops, there is the UPS guy with my shipment from Packer Pro Shop and Bucky’s Locker. Gatta go.

    Careful Rugs,

All I/O’s might be pulled down the road next year with a flag showing the water jacket has been drained.

No doubt! I don’t put anything past these guys. AllenW’s 3-5 seconds could flip into hours for some boats. Basically winterize between each use. Many people would not have the knowledge/skills to even do it on their own.

Not buying the time thing, can’t take more than 3-5 seconds to put a plug in and it can be done while their pulling the tie down straps off….or don’t they need them too?

One way to look at it though is eventually they’ll infect every lake they go to and we can get on with our lives while they figure out how to deal with the little buggers.

Something they should be doing now. imho

    Al

My big boat has a brass plug that requires a wrench. I don’t use tie downs as the 4,000lb. vessel on a bunk trailer going 30mph through town doesn’t shift an inch. So, I have to remember a wrench and remember to put the plug in while I am doing 10 other things at the launch? This is all so I can launch my totally dry boat?? B.S.

An I/O motor holds gallons of water in itself. It doesn’t drain out by lowering the lower unit or by pulling the boat plug. It only drains out when the drain plugs are pulled from the block. As mentioned above, this is what they do when the winterize them.

My I/O has a convenient “plunger” where I can open it up and drain the water. It holds gallons of water in the block. I have done it many times. Not all I/Os have this. It is only accessible from the engine compartment. My drain plug can be pulled from the back of the boat and ‘they’ would have no idea about all the water sitting in the block. Basically every I/O in our area is going to have gallons of water sitting in it from the body of water they just pulled out of.

How about the gallons of water sitting in an I/O motor that was sucked up in god knows what infested body of water. Doesn’t that get pumped out in the next body of water it is run on?

Yes, we can’t expect them to remember the plug when launching, I agree. That would be dangerous.

But I can (remember) when I am solo lanching a 22′ pleasure cruiser with wife, kids, gear and a line of others waiting to launch? I live a mile from the launch and only boat in the Sipp/Criox. I can’t put the plug in my totally dry boat in my driveway while I am prepping things in a non pressure environment without getting a massive fine??

    That’s bulls***!!

then there are the regional differences. My wife is from Desoto Co. MS (Memphis). Gas is $2.999 there right now. Yet in Hastings it is $3.69.

What would a statewide AIS program look like?
    Probably something like this

I would be willing to put a sticker on my trailers, which would seem to be the better spot anyway since that’s where a guy is (at the crank) when the boat comes out of the water, BUT there is no way I would ever stick one of those things anywhere on my pleasure boat.

    I have to tell you…..

This type of protest would really send a message…..

You could block traffic – both ways at Calhoun and Harriet – right during rush hour on Friday AM.

    It would be impressive!!!!

    Dog

We should shoot for 6pm so people could go after work. I would love to join in the line up and totally jam up the the Friday night traffic.

The subsidies expired a while ago… FYI: The ethanol producers didn’t get the subsidies. The blenders did, so mostly your BP’s and Shells of the world got those tax credits on top of the already outrageous tax credits they get today.

Doesn’t matter who they actually went to. The subsidy to the blender resulted in higher demand for the crap which results in higher prices for the crap than they would have gotten.

Add in the fact that I am forced to buy the crap …this also results in an artificially high demand which again results in a higher price for the crap. Bottom line, ethanal is crap .

Until very, very recently this industry was doing OK to even well at times. However, the bottom has dropped out on ethanol while corn prices remain strong. The gas/ethanol industry has a huge surplus right now. So much so, there is little availability for storage around the country. Funny though, we don’t see gas prices going down like we do ethanol.

Only due to the stupid subsidies. Ethanol has always been a joke imo. I despise it and wish I weren’t forced to freaking buy it.

I fish out of a 14ft. Lund with a short shaft 30hp. In 15 years I’ve only gone thru 2 prop’s but you have to be carefully and lucky! It helps to know where the big rocks are and what the current water levels are. Nice and peaceful up here!

    Where do you launch?

Not only is Hastings in poor condition but there’s current, it’s very busy on the weekends, and they close it without notice (carnivals, road construction etc).

I wouldn’t recommend that one but if you need one that’s free there aren’t a lot of choices.

and add in barge traffic that goes right past the launch. they are going to repair/re-do the launch this summer. they currently only have one of two lanes open. they only close it around rivertown days which is july 20th-22 this year. they have waterski shows and boat races at that time.
