Pug, you shouldnt be trying to fish anyhow.
Sharon @ Melgeorges called and said she looks forward to seeing you again this summer….
December 26, 2012 at 11:22 am #1123847I was out on Centerville 12/23. 6 1/2″ of ice out near the middle. Small fish.
May 7, 2010 at 8:52 pm #870365No, you cannot camp on Buzzard Island on Elephant. It’s private property/santuary.
The point on the north end in Browns bay and the two spots across the road near the old tressel are your only options for camping on Elephant.
Blackduck has the better camping spots. All the islands and a bunch on the mainland points.
My favorite is the smallest island on the sw end. It has room for one tent.
The island just to the right as you leave the launch is a great spot for 2 tents and or fishing parties. Nice sand boat beaching spot and excellent fishing right off the point.
We will be up there the last week in July. Been going up in that area for 22 years.
Both lakes have their good days.
Even better lakes near by if you have a 4wheeler and small boat and trailer.April 5, 2010 at 11:06 pm #860971Picture of my first spring open water crappie.
They just started moving into the shallows.
We also found a school in 16ft.
Most were around 10-11″
April 5, 2010 at 12:57 am #860658Hey Matt!
Long time no see.
I’ll be hitting a lake up 35E tomorrow, in the boat for the first time this year. I’m pumped!January 5, 2010 at 8:30 pm #829429Quote:
I better alert the brother who has one on Centerville…if it ain’t too late. Not that it is going to matter I suppose.
His son, my nephew, already had his shack in Ely broken into.
He was taliking about our shack on Centerville. It was last week sometime. Didnt take anything.(Only had a chisel and scoop in there) If yours got hit Sunday night I may have another break in to check. It happened 2 years now.
July 22, 2009 at 10:32 pm #792420Can’t we talk directly to the mussels themselves? Surely they would be understanding of our concerns. I believe “mplspug” is a direct descendent of Dr. Dolittle and would be willing to help us out in this matter.
BrianK, What are your thoughts? I believe he first worked his magic on you? Can you contact Pug?

Is their going to be a Mill Ruins GTG April 1 again?
Puggy, do you have Casey this weekend? Mora on Saturday?
I may hit the Ruins tomorrow evening. A bit nippie for air temps though. What else have I got to do….March 18, 2009 at 9:05 pm #760006Searching for the 10ft hole eh?
I will be there this Saturday. 2 of the brothers have a cabin on that lake. We do well right in front of both of them. It’s an all day bite but need to be prepared to drill a WHOLE LOT OF HOLES. One spot usually has some holes already drilled which is nice this time of year.
The other spot never has open holes..
Maybe I’ll drag pug off the river bank with me.September 7, 2008 at 8:28 pm #710082Can someone post the proper Sheephead hold for Pug…..
I may be going out Saturday AND Monday!!!!

Without an Avatar, I have no idea who you were. And I guess with an avatar that just shows my back, you’d have no idea who I was.
You don’t want to see the other side of him!!
March 2, 2008 at 9:41 pm #661029Lots of smaller sunfish and 1 small pike. I don’t know why we don’t go out there with tip-ups during the open season. There were 2 guys fishing out of a pick-up watching 6 tip-ups. I said something to them when a flag went off. They said they were just catching and releasing… They quickly picked up and left. About 10 groups fishing the hole in front of the landing. 2 vehicles in the other deep hole. We left before dark.
January 20, 2008 at 3:42 pm #645471Went out yesterday afternoon and discovered my fish house was broken into. This is what I had in there.
4 camo highback chairs.
1 wood tip-up
1 old spinning rod and reel.
shovel
1 fish scale
1 pair ice cleats
1 ice scoopWhat is weird. Nothing was taken but the old rod and reel combo. Did these robbers have a conscience? I’m glad they didn’t take the chairs. I really like them. I guess I have to move the house back near the crowd so their is a little more protection. It has never happened to me before on Centerville.
The fishing didn’t pick up until near sundown and after dark. Crappie and sunfish. Mainly small with a few good ones. We also had a sucker minnow down and a fathead minnow on another. So what does the northern bite? My powerbait grub on a shrimpo…. That was fun. It was a good time in there. We had 5 of us having a few barley pops, catchin fish, fishing in our t-shirts staying warm during a deep freeze! You got to love Minnesota fishermen/women.
As soon as it warms a little I am moving it to another spot I marked in the summer closer to the others.December 14, 2007 at 6:01 am #633357Did you fish the evening hot 1/2 hr? Or maybe their is’nt one yet Or maybe their won’t be one this year…..
September 26, 2007 at 9:33 pm #611374I use KingCat 8′ rod and reel combo for my rod holder setup.60lb pp line with 80lb titanium coated 8″ leader with 6/0 circle hook. It allows for a soft tip for bite detection and alot of bend/fun when its fish-on!!
In hand setup is a shorter 7′ graphite musky rod with a levelwind. 60lb pp line with 80lb titanium coated 18″ leader with 6/0 circle hook. The shorter stiffer rod gives you more feel for the in hand setup.
After 2 days of fishing last weekend and 33 fish caught we only lost 1 fish.
I am sort of a novice at this since it was the first 2 times out for me but it won’t be the last.
