I would go with the 1/2″ with at least 450 lbs of torque that is what I am using and can get about 35 holes in 6″ of ice. Last year we had about 20″ of ice here and I got 18 holes per charge. If you go much smaller you run the chance of tearing the drill apart. I am using a 6″ auger.
Check the Ebay thing out with the girl holding the auger. I bought mine last year from them. You can call him direct also. Really nice guy to talk with. His name is Rod Chilcott. tele 814 898 0107. Ask him about the Ice Kicker I
Dave, Great post. I use mine all the time for the shallow water bite. I got tired of watching down the hole. The LX5 is an awesome flasher. Can not wait for the ice to be strong enough to get out on.
Try Bobber Stop they are listed there. Like $10.00 cheaper than Clam. They may not be in stock. But they told me my kit for my Pro would be in by the end of the month.
When they say affixed do they mean that the clear plastic holder in the back can not be used because you only slide your name & address into it and that can be removed?
Most of us that take it seriously would pack up our gear and head home if we forgot our electronics. You don’t need the latest and greatest flasher but you need something! Check the classifieds and Craigslist and you should find something. If you ask which brand the debate will begin but the bottom line is they are almost all pretty good. Good luck
The retainer should spin freely. So there is no worry about cutting yourself with that if that is what you are talking about. I ordered one online and it works great. Hope this helps you.
