Thanks for the update Tanner ! BTW the word from the DNR is that they may drop the size limit on Bass altogether sometime in August. They want to do it for Largemouth only but may have to add Smallmouth as well (not a good thing IMHO). Tournaments are restricted to either the east side or west side but not both as they are concerned that the transportation and release from the west to the east will impact the Walleyes adversly.

I just read that ESPN has dropped all of it’s outdoors shows , here is a link ESPN I didn’t like all of the shows, but it was fun watching spanish fly or beat charlie moore.

The moment that ESPN / ABC / Disney bought out B.A.S.S. things started to go down hill. The made promises they didn’t keep, raised fees without increasing benefits and the list goes on. Most state BASS organizations jumped to the FLW causing a big drop in revinue. Corporate greed at it’s best and it came back to haunt them. They just couldn’t support all the extra programming without the support and revenue that had been generated by B.A.S.S. Look for most of the shows move to FOX Sports nets, VS, The Outdoor Channel etc.

My wife boated her 1st on Sunday on the Chip right when the rain ended. 40″ No camera with us because of the rain. We were Northern fishing and she was using a light Brekley Cherrywood rod with a firetiger spinner. Lucky the rod didn’t break. Thank God I had her spooled up with 30# Power Pro!

We will never agree on this subject. That’s ok.
Looks like a dam cold weekend coming. If the wind is still up I will probably not get out. Once I get past MN opening weekend I should be able to concentrate more effort on Wis. I have putting off LCO for years. I need to hook up with someone to give me a push.

Let me know when you plan to come over. I live about 3 miles from the new landing. Good lake but crowded on weekends.

In general, if run correctly (catch & release etc.) tournaments are a good thing. They provide info for the DNR and promote friendly competition. I have run “Open” Bass tournaments and the DNR is VERY strict when it comes to the size of the water that can be fished, number of boats, number of tournaments allowed on specific lakes etc. But the “Opener” and Holidays are never a good time for them. Too much traffic and fishing pressure. I only fish a few tournaments each year and almost all of them are catch & release. Good luck to you this season.

There was a fishing contest/tourney on our lake. Whoever heard of an opener contest? I hate them anyways. Especially on small lakes. They do nothing but larger than normal scale of damage to the fishery all so few people can boost their ego.

Was that the Crappie tournament sponsored by the Hall or a private one ? In any case I agree with you about opener tourneys. Too much traffic and pressure as it is without adding more.

I believe that Bill & Linda Fetzner have some openings at Musky Tale on the west fork of the Chip. Good location and reasonable. You can check them out at muskytale.com

It’s nice to see early ice-out and that the water levels on the Chip are not too bad at this point. Can’t wait to get out there!
