    Wednesday the 26th

We have 11 inches of ice on the main lake, snow free ice. BUT! We have 8 inches between there and shore. So we need to grow the 8 inches to be able to drive out to the thicker ice. We are putting a water pump out on the thinner area to flood it and allow more ice to form on top of the ice that is there now.

Obviously, no pulling bigger houses nor driving full-size cars/trucks for at least a couple days. Stay tuned…

Quick report……”midnight fishermen” report lottsa fish pulling cranks. Most were too big but plenty of action.

North winds have the lake very fishable on the north shores.

    More reports later….

It’s winter again in Red Door Country. Snowfall the past 24 hrs. was about 5-7 inches. Minus 10 this morning.

The lake/snow conditions are actually pretty good for travel cross-country. Before the latest snow, the ice was virtually bare of snow–so 4×4 trucks/SUV’s, snow machines and ATV’s should be just fine for this weekend perch hunting. However, cars are NOT recommended for cross country travel.

The Red Door lake access is open this weekend. The bridge is in place to cross the active crack. There will be no plowed roads as creating banks will just add to deeper drifting. Now the snow depths are easily navigated–including drifts that could be as deep as 12″ or a hair more. Bring a shovel along just in case and pay attention to where you stop and all will be just fine.

Sally is tired and in hibernation until next December. The big houses are ALL off. BUT!!

As long as conditions allow, The Red Door will maintain it’s lake access to perch country. Perch hunters this past weekend and now this week report pretty good catches consistently. Limits have been common–of keepers. 25′-30′ of water along the mucky shoreline has been best with all the typical perch techniques. Small baits…light line.

So…it should be a good perchin’ weekend coming up out from The Red Door! (we hope)

It’s early but reports from the ice today look better as expected. The areas that were drilled yesterday (around most houses) are either dry or only have 1″-4″ of water on them. More drilling is being done today. So the prognosis for the weekend and beyond is pretty good. Today, there is only about an inch of ice on the water above the ice but that should be solid in the next 24hrs. Snowmobile travel is almost impossible now but might be okay by Saturday. ATV’s and 4x 4 trucks are okay anywhere right now.

It’s still a mess in places but getting better and will be okay by the weekend.

Quiet! That’s the word at The Red Door this week.

This coming weekend is shaping up to be the nicest of the winter. Warm temps and pretty easy fishing conditions should make things busy and fun for all.

Ice travel conditions are pretty good with zero new snow and a hard snow surface to travel on for both ATV’s and snow machines. Still bring a shovel with ATV’s. Travel with trucks cross country is possible but one could stop in the wrong place and high center in a hard drift yet.

Roads are open to the Fletcher, Pantry, Weimer, Bombeck, Matton and both ends of the Resort flat. If you need a driveway plowed for your wheel-house–let us know.

Snow machine trails are still pretty good but without snow are in a “used” condition. Good riding conditions for sure.

If you need work done or want a move made with your Perm, call asap before the weekend.

The Red Door country will be a good place to be this weekend!

After a session moving the bridge first thing in the morning, all went well at The Red Door Saturday.

Fishing reports were fairly good. Some limits of walleyes were taken. Some got just a couple and yes, the usual “tough fishing” reports were in the mix too. Again, the locations varied along with depths. Some got’em on the flats, and some got’em on the deep shoreline areas– 22′-24′. Not much, yet, on the perch front.

    Mike,

    Thanks for asking!

YES–we are still in the fish house business in every aspect.
    Roads, storage etc.

Just call the office or stop in and we can discuss the various options/size of your house etc.

    Thanks again!
