Winona Steamboat Days had the fireballs as well. Very cool!

My best advice: wear Elimitick clothing when you are among ticks. I’m in the woods A LOT and never get ticks on me when wearing the clothes. It will cost you over $100 for pants and a shirt, but well worth it to keep the ticks off. I’ve had my clothes for 2 years and love them. I actually bought another top at Mills Fleet Farm last night.
I have collected insects for almost 30 years and have only encountered the cicada killer 4 times. As luck would have it, I caught one last week. While I have never been stung by one, they are the biggest wasp I have seen in the Midwest. They are massive!

my idea would be to use it for gas and small stuff that i need now and pay it right as i would get my paycheck back
I would get one from the bank, preferably with low or no fees. I would stay away from cards with points; it may just entice you to spend more. Keep it simple and like others said, pay it off every month. Get on-line banking and mark your calendar to pay it the same day every month.
That was a great post, Chris!
I just ordered my first Pulse-R’s and jigs last week and just guessed on what to order. I picked well according to your post and now I know how to rig them. Our fishing crew never uses plastics and I hope to show them up. Thank you for posting this!

Does anyone know the most recent state record to be broken?
Quillback Carpsucker, 8/9/10
My brother caught the new state record Warmouth in December 2011. I’m not sure how often they update, but he should be in the next revision.
I go to many hardware shows and Harbor Freight is always the butt of all jokes. As many have stated, it’s a one-time use, knock-off company. I do not support companies like this, but then again, I work for an American manufacturer.
I just saw them this past weekend in Winona. They are pretty cool and have quite the story behind the ships themselves. They are hiring as well! I’d be willing to bet that there are a certain few catfish people that would love to be the captain of their own pirate ship…
While I am no expert, my good buddy runs duramaxtuner.com. He has a tune library and writes custom as well. Check out his site and he may give you some good advise, as he works on these every day.

My job is to sell hardware items to Walmart. I go to Bentonville, AR 6-7 times a year; it’s quite a place.
I can assure anyone that doesn’t approve of their policy to buy the cheapest items possible that if Walmart didn’t do it, there would be someone else doing the same thing.
And while they manage their costs in one way by paying their employees very little, where else would most of these people work? I sure wouldn’t hire many of them. We should be happy that those workers have jobs and aren’t sitting on their behind drawing a welfare check.
I have to agree with the high numbers of trout and low number of anglers. I fish Badger Creek in Houston, MN (yes, I said it) with spinners and small hair jigs. While the size of the trout is not very big, the numbers are the highest I’ve seen. The thing that amazes me is the lack of fisherman. There is a great stetch of creek that nobody touches; I could barely get through the tall grass, let alone fish it. Ten years ago there were trails from people in the same spot. There is easy access to all of this creek. There are even ladders built over the fences in the parts that are pastured.
I’m not a dove hunter, but I don’t recall ever seeing so many doves in SE MN. We were shooting trap in our quarry and the doves kept flying and even landing in trees next to us the whole time.
Great story! I just hope the hole keeps quiet and one of you will land the hog. Best of luck.
Lots of good people on this site (and the hunting side). Keep it up, everyone!
I’m with Kooty on this one. Stallworth was a little over the limit, but he hit a guy that ran across a road and wasn’t in the crosswalk. That could happen to anyone, under the influence or not. Either way it’s very unfortunate, though.
I work at a Chain MFG and we have these. We sell a similar one to Mills Fleet Farm. PM me if you just need a few and I can hook a fellow IDOer up.
Nice job getting the kids out! As far as catching fish themselves…splurge on some little Gamagatzu red laser sharpened hooks and put a redworm or crawler hunk just covering the shaft of the hook. They are so sharp that any tension sinks the hook. It’s the only way my girlfriend will fish with me.
All of these stories make me want to puke. I do have one, though… When I was 6, my sister (4) walked behind me as I was casting a rapala from shore. My back swing hooked her right under the lip!!! My hearing still hasn’t come back from all of the screaming she did.
Thank you. I have been getting different answers from everyone I know, even the DNR themselves! But you did confirm what I thought was the right answer.
