I use Hawker Energy Trolling Thunder Batteries. My starting battery was put in in 1998 and I plan on using it again this season. My TM batteries finally died last summer.

Harv Lueck….he grew up in the area and guides all sorts of species in the Cass Lake/Leech Lake region. I talked to Harv this morning and he guided two big limits last night on Leech. Very very knowledgable guy who’s willing to teach you his secrets.

218-380-4706December 22, 2003 at 6:56 pm #286104I screwed 3/8″ sheet metal screws in the bottom of my boots. $1.00 investment, works great. I’ve never had trouble walking/running.
December 11, 2003 at 4:47 am #284848Let me know the weekend of a MN GTG. I’ld be willing to head to Mille Lacs or So. Center. I’ve never fished Wabasha in the winter. But I’ld give that a try too.
December 4, 2003 at 4:05 am #283940Have you looked at the Frabill’s. They compete with the Otters and are much cheaper. The two man Ranger XLTwin retails for 399 and the three man Ranger triplex retails for 499. Their shell won’t ice up and doesn’t allow wind to pass through. It is also fire resistant, stronger and much lighter. Unlike the Otters and Fish Traps the seats don’t have a brace that spans the width or length of the sled (which takes up room). The new Modular seating system Frabill develop is awesome.
December 4, 2003 at 4:03 am #283939you know where i’m at, stop in and we can head out. plus i’m buying an 8×8 this weekend. this should give us a little more room. sshh, you’re sister-in-law don’t know yet. i’m gonna just show up with it, think she’ll notice?
December 4, 2003 at 3:25 am #283928All the area lakes are iced over. Thank God, now the wind won’t be so dreadfull. I have yet to venture out, but from the house it looks pretty solid out about 200 yards. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I’ll head out with a spud bar and test the conditions.
November 23, 2003 at 9:31 pm #282614My personal favorite is the Avid Series 6’6″ medium light with a fast tip (AS66MLF). Match that with a Shimano Stradic 1000 FG and 4# Stren magna thin and your set. This combo balances out quite nicely.
November 18, 2003 at 12:36 am #282209I would have to agree with Waterfowler…the magnifying lens is blurry and scratches easily. I use it to protect my unit when from dust and dirt. When I’m fishing I take sit off and get a clearer picture.
November 18, 2003 at 12:08 am #282206This is a foolish question, but how thick of ice do you guys get down there? Are you all fishing in the backwaters?
November 18, 2003 at 12:01 am #282203I have a 3Hp Jiffy Legend, love it. I couldn’t say anything poor about it. It always starts on the first or second pull. Once it’s warmed up it drills through the ice without any problems. I’ve heard good things about Strikemaster’s Lazer, but have never tried it. The Jiffy is a bit more money but well worth it.
November 14, 2003 at 3:16 am #281911Last winter I fished from a Ranger XLTwin. It looks like I’ll be fishing from it again this winter (if I don’t sell it).
November 2, 2003 at 10:26 pm #279902Hovan and the rest of the front four are gonna eat ButtFavor and the Packqueres alive tonight.
Go Purple!October 20, 2003 at 3:39 pm #279101Jeeze, now the pressure is on. I no longer have an excuse when I come home skunked.
September 13, 2002 at 3:02 am #246194Ditto from the lakes area. I’m experiencing the same probles as you James. In addition to the slow pages I also wasn’t able to log on the FTL site. Evidentally FTR and FTL are two different sites. I thought my user name and password would work on both sites. It didn’t and the only way to resolve this was to create a username and password under FTL. It allowed me to use all identical inforamtion as the FTR site. Is this normal?
August 9, 2002 at 2:39 am #245148Mike I live ten minutes west of TF. I would be willing to give that stretch of the croix a try.
DavidJuly 22, 2002 at 5:12 am #242194I am still trying to survive the 3rd annual FTR get together. I don’t think a bottle of water nor the bottle of advil has left my side, since my departure. On another note, it was a great event….congratulations to all the winners, thank you to EFN staff and volunteers for putting together a great couple of days. The food, beer and comradery were great. I look forward to next years event.
July 11, 2002 at 12:01 am #230555Hawger, what time Saturday morning are we departing Everts Resort? What time are we to return? Are there fishing categories….Bass, Walleye, Northern, Roughfish? Are there prizes for the most diverse stringer, longest/heaviest stringer, shortest/lightest stringer? Are there divisions…..husband/wife, father/son, father/daughter, mother/son, mother/daughter, open division?
