Looks like a great day, can’t wait to get there.

We added a link this week at the bottom of the page for a rotating archive of photos every 1/2 hour of the day. You can scroll through the photos up to the current time, the remaining photos will be from the prior day. We are still working on an automated time lapse video, but does a great job until we get that working.

    big G,

Thanks for posting! We hope folks enjoy the Camera and stop in often for a view of the lake.

We’re just getting started and have many plans for the site. Stay tuned for new changes, we appreciate everyone visiting and your patience while we tweak the site.

BTW Scott, you’re pretty good. We had a 20′ high pile of ice in our front yard this spring. The views could be interesting in the spring next year.

It’s possible we might cross paths. I have a couple of favorite spots on the south and east side, but lately I’ve been exploring a much broader area looking for rock piles. Basically anywhere with a buoy and big rocks.

Last night I snuck about 15 min. of fishing in and nailed four on the Flukes. Wasn’t even hitting bottom. Biggest was a 19.5″. Still trying to crack that 20″ mark.

I think there is also good fishing to be had deeper, but I haven’t experimented much. Anybody fising them deep?

I tried Mac’s Twin Bay this past weekend. Very deep launch, no issues at all getting the big rigs in there. Just another option for everyone.

Excited to see that Liberty is finally getting done.

My Dad and I have noticed that they really like to swallow the tubes and we most likely are going to remove the barbs. We have not had any problems with the Flukes however.

Interesting you caught them while retrieving. Were they typically caught on the first jig or later. We’ve experienced that they hit the first cast after letting them sit. We learned this after putting the pole down to grab a pop or to untangle the cast, lift the pole and bang. I hardly jig more than once now.

Forgot to mention. The 20″ bass was caught after a lull and we started some music to see what would get the bass biting. The 20″ bass hit when Neil Diamond, “Kentucky Woman” came on. I named that bass Kentucky Woman.

Funny thing was I was going through my camera and checking pictures, it was one year ago to the date that we caught our last 20″ bass.

    Looking forward to your reports.

I keep hearing about the Muskie guys catching them on Muskie Baits. I have yet to catch a Smallie this year when throwing any type of spinner bait. Everything has come on jigs and soft top water baits.

As far as spots go, I used to laugh at guys when they would say just jig tubes on the rock piles. But it’s true. Concentrate on big rocks and let it sit still once in awhile. Find a buoy and jig, if nothing, move on to the next bouy and so forth.

Now I’m thinking about the rock piles that hold weeds. Hmmm.

Also, thanks for sounding in everyone! Let’s get the bass forum moving.

    Calvin,

Thanks for posting a reply, we need to get the Bassers talking on this lake. I’ve moved to Walleye in the spring and Bass in late summer and fall. Also getting hooked on the idea of a big Muskie. However, Grifter is going to tempt me again with the deep trolling for eyes. It’s amazing to see how few boats are about right now, there is so much to offer on this lake, I don’t care what the slot is.

Grifter! Thanks for your reply and welcome to the IDA staff. Your approach to sharing defines what forums are all about. Share some, gain some. keep it up. As I continue to learn, I will share as well. Thank you also for your help in the cities this week and also the offer to take myself and my AZ friend on the lake for the deep Walleye.

Anyone in IT needing top notch .NET developement help should give Grifter a call, he has top notch talent available to help!!! He has helped my team in several occasions.

Looking forward to next weekend Grift, remember the 24th – 26th. You let us know, we’ll report to the launch at a moments notice.

What does this comment mean? Never have owned a glass boat, so any info. would help.

I’m less concerned about the top end speed, not much of a speed demon. More concerned about getting to plane. I had a friend with a Skeeter 1880, his 150 would not plane out until he ended up putting on a whale fin on his outboard.

    Thanks again for the info.

    Thanks everyone, very helpful.

If the 150 were vastly underpowered I would think there would be a number of horror stories out there. I would lean towards maxing a boat out, but it seemed so many were equipped with the 150 I had to ask. Also never have been in the range of a 150-175, so I don’t have feel for what is good or bad. The 80% of capacity comment is interesting and applies if I think of my past boats and motors.

Offer still stands, beverages for a ride if you are on Mille Lacs.

    Thanks again!

Went out tonight for 90 Min., probably while you were Muskie fishing. Got one 18″, one 12″, and 3 hits. 18″ came out of reeds, 12″ came in shallow rocks.

We’re new to this stuff as well but have had fairly good luck on various baits. Near you we have fished the rocks to the north of Spider Island and also Gull Reef in front of Lyback’s. We started with tube baits concentrating on the edges of the rocks, biggest rocks are best from what I can tell. However I’ve switched to various soft top water baits on 3/0 hooks. This presentation allows for much less time stuck in the rocks.

It certainly does seem if you spend time working the rock piles, soon enough one of the monsters will grab on.

2 weeks ago we threw for a couple of hours and got a 15″ and 19.5 on tube jigs. No bites on surface. All rock pile fishing.

Last week we spent 2 hours throwing at the rock pile and had 5 rise on a Ribot Frog, none latched on.

    Grift,

Good to talk to you again, glad to see you’ve found time for fishing again. We’ll need to find some customers to entertain on the big pond soon.

I’m up all weekend, give me a call if you hit the water.

BTW, we did try for smallies for an hour and came up with a few, 19″ the biggest.

    Looking forward to future stories.

    Take care,
