Your family extends farther than the IDO crew. We have all enjoyed growing up with you and the business. We anticipate the next chapter, and look forward to what you choose to share with your extended family.

Best of luck on your next chapter, and thank you for the memories! An additional thanks for helping my wife puchase countless baits she said would catch fish because “James said so”!

What is your opinion with another week of cold temps in the forecast. Here on 5 and 5a temps are just about getting right, then Wham temps drop five degrees. This will be the 2nd time this happens this year. Can’t be good for the spawn. More rain will keep the flow up, but temps will drop just as things are hitting the right temps again.

Would love to hear Nick’s opinioned outlook based on forecast.

Odd considering the dark colored water. You would think these darker water lakes/rivers would be hotter than the clearer lakes around them.

    Hmmmm.

Thanks. Does the Jump run cool all summer? I have been wanting to come over and chase some toothy fish. Usually there in the fall, but haven’t tried summer and wasn’t sure if too hot.

There is a red just underwater about a mile upstream of Ft. City, too. Was there Saturday. On the left descending, but in the channel.

I upgraded my 2017 with the help of many emails back and forth with Motorguide. I have a Gen 1 system, so they sent me the software (version 7) and I did it. I will be reverting back to the previous version (version 2) as I lost some features I had.

The list below happened after the new software upgrade.
    * Lost use of Pinpoint remote
    * as long as NMEA cable is plugged in, remote does not work – works when unplugged
    * Lost use of cruise control
    * ramps up to full speed on 1st button press (should be 1 mph). Unable to adjust speed down – must hit M button to get out of cruise
    * No longer have Autopilot on HDS. All Motorguide modules are detected after Network Auto-config, but if I click Goto cursor on chart a message is displayed that no active autopilot is present.

Motorguide sent me version 2 software. If that does not restore my lost features, they want me to start troubleshooting the NMEA, and/or gateway. I will not purchase another $250 cable, because their “fix” broke it.

Hopefully I can find out after this cold snap, and other chores to catch up on…

Trumar, where do you get your blanks from, or do you mold them, too?

    Nice.

Would love that information Nick. Always enjoy the science side of fishing.

    Keep the data coming!

Water coming up again! At what level does the landing go under?

With Garmin purchasing Navionics, and now having their own motor I would place a hefty bet they come out with some contour following game in the very near future. Now that they own it all, it is just software going forward.

It will be very interesting in the next couple years. The BIG 3 (Humminbird, Lowrance, Garmin) all have equal hardware/software/mapping abilities under the same umbrella. Each will be vying for our dollars, and thus far all seem to be taking the Apple Business Model by going all in on PREMIUM Products that also carry the PREMIUM Price tags.

That leaves Motorguide as either the odd one out, or the one that can slide this way, and that way with a cheaper option (their new motor aside, of course).

    Very interesting.

Has anyone spoken to Motorguide about the GPS rollover that our Lowrance sonars have experienced? I had to update my Gen2, and Gen 2 Touch devices twice for this specific issue. Odd that a trolling motor that relies on GPS to function properly would not have had a similar update.

How are using the gateway in that setup slawrenz? I can do all that without pairing the two, and is my entire point. $250 is a lot for the little bit it can do exclusively in conjunction with the two paired.

All is connected, and working properly. I just do not believe it is worth $250+ to connect the two. $50 would be more than enough. Like I said, they never took it to the next level. All the issues that are out there, and each company blames the other. Sadly, we are the ones that suffer.

Areas around Winona have less than 9′ in the main channel being reported by fishermen, and the river is still 3′ above normal. The Corps will be very busy!

Extremely disappointed with this partnership. Very little updates after offering up the $250 marriage of the two. Honestly, I never use it. Maybe if I played with it more, I might try a few more things. Worst money I ever spent. I use them together, but so much more an individual units. For what I use it for, just not worth $250 for an 18″ adapter, then another $50 for the kit to join the two technologies. Had they kept up with their software and added features, or improved the ones initially offered I might have dove in a bit more.

    Dumb question? Maybe…

Is this in neutral, or with it in gear? I know mine does that while in neutral, but when put in gear, I get the full range.

Unreal. Can’t wait for this to hit Wisconsin… doah

As people have stated, there have been people sitting at the ramps for years now and for what? Some sleep, some talk to fishermen, or their friends while boats are launched/trailered and not inspected, or they just are not there when they are supposed to be.

Money grab to privatize the lake. Period. All the points about the lake shore property owners bypassing the restrictions is a giant red flag.

DNR needs to make a statement that they are in control, and that ALL MN waters are open for business.

Are you wearing sunglasses? I only ask because I notice the polarizer of the HDS screen makes it difficult at times while I am wearing sunglasses (usually polarized glasses as well).

Switching sunglasses could be the cheapest solution if this is valid.

I think we are looking at this all wrong. Maybe we need to get WI to change THEIR ways and only allow ONE line…then they’ll have better fishing and stop coming here…LOL

    Anything is possible!
