Glad to hear about your day eyehunter.I spent wed.,thurs. and friday fishing Peosta channel and O’learys and catfish creek.Throwing cranks and ringworms. Caught more white bass and smallmouth but caught a few walleyes everyday. Just learning the pool and from my success or lack of it over the past month it is nice to know there are walleyes close to home. dragging dubuque rigs in front of the wingdams will be new for me but I look forward to learning how. Thanks for the info. We’ll see ya out there. JD

How did you guys do?I talked my buddy into Clear lake instead and he caught a 25″ walleye. Plenty of other action up there too.see ya on the water.J.D.
October 13, 2004 at 7:09 pm #324165I talked my buddy into fishing Clear lake instead of Saylorville Saturday and we were glad we did.We fished the island with minnows and kept seven walleyes. He caught the big fish on a yellow whistler jig and minnow in 8 foot of water. She measured 25″. We caught a lot of yellow bass also.We saw another 25″ fish caught by two old boys in a green lund. They pulled up and gave us their minnows before leaving. They had a few big white bass on there stringer also. They were using a plain hook with one split shot two foot up the line. There was no wind and moving around with the trolling motor put us on more fish than everyone else anchoring. We had doubles on quite a few times. it was a great day on the water.See ya out there.J.D.
October 8, 2004 at 3:39 pm #323628The fishing has been great between Charles City and Nashua. I had a friend float below Nashua and he said the fishing wasn’t very good. They are catching a lot of fish below the dam right now. Jigs and twisters. Orange has been a good color. They are draining the lake and most of the gates are wide open. Once the lake is low enough the flow will stop and so will the bite probably. There are a few bridges between Charles City and Nashua to load a canoe. Lets us know how it goes. J.D.
October 8, 2004 at 3:29 pm #323627Thanks for the replies fellas. I was afraid of the bite being slow. The walleyes are going up here in Nashua on the cedar and I hate to lose a day going down there. They are draining the lake in Nashua and the gates are wide open putting the fish on the feed below the dam. Thanks again, I’ll say hi if I see you out there. JD
October 5, 2004 at 10:51 pm #323325I have a buddy who just bought a boat and wants to troll some plugs on Saylorville this Sat. Any info on the bite. We will try to find the humps and pull along Cherry Glen. Any new info appre ciated. Thanks, J.D.
September 16, 2004 at 1:23 am #321325My buddies and I fished cherry glen on Tuesday with non stop action from 8 to 2:30. We had to catch 200 fish. Cleaned 40. Silver 1/8oz Kastmasters were the ticket but when the schools were active tiny torpedos made for great topwater action. I am taking the family there this weekend.Hope the action continues. See ya J.D.
September 11, 2004 at 10:22 pm #320693Got a chance to fish the whites on Thursday. We started across from sandpiper whithout a fish and went to troll underneath the bridge. We saw a man and woman catch afew whites underneath the bridge in the middle. We then went to the windy side by the marina and found the gulls working. We ended up throwing tiny torpedos and had a blast. When the action died down we trolled #5 jointed shad raps in the natural color and caught smallmouth, large mouth and a few little walleyes. Heading back on tuesday hope they are still active. Shor fisherman throwing Kastmasters were doing well at dusk. See ya out there. J.D.

Big mayfly hatch with the street lights being covered.Keep your mouth closed.Heading down there tonight. I have the silver Ranger.See ya out there.J.D.

August 16, 2004 at 8:30 pm #317565Hey Fellas,
I’ve spent the last two weekends hooking a buddies mobile home up in North Buena Vista. We haven’t had any time to fish yet but with the lights and water hooked up and a new deck attached finally we can get some relaxing in. I’ve never fished down there but would apprieciate any info. I am looking to target walleyes and smallmouth.Should I head upstream or down from J.D.’s landing in North Buena? I did notice the wingdam below the gas dock and a few boats trolling the rock downstream. Thanks for any heads up on what has worked for you in the past! Thanks,J.D.July 26, 2004 at 9:18 pm #314156Way to go. It is a nice “Nut Flush”.Thanks fellas for a great tournament season.I still owe you guys a few beers.See ya up on pool 4 this fall.JD

I was lucky enough to have a partner that had spent a lot of time on the lake and it gave us confidence to stick with a couple of spots.I am looking forward to Mille Lacs and just want some points.
Alright I’ll get the door next time Chappy and Gator Hunter but somewhere there is an Irishman not breathing well. I look forward to sharing a brewski and conversation at Mille Lacs.April 22, 2004 at 4:33 pm #3020719 & 10 for me. I live 1&1/2 away.Smallies in lower pool 9 but never been up by the dam yet.Walleyes at Lnyxville. I appreciate the reports Lawrence.KEEP THEM COMING!Thanks,JD
April 1, 2004 at 6:13 pm #299254stopped below the dam in Nashua last night. There were 15 people fishing.Everyone was catching fish but only saw a few keepers.Yellow and white twisters have been good.21″ was caught on what looked like a chart. rebel craw crankbait.See ya out there.
March 30, 2004 at 9:57 pm #298929Things picked up below the Dam in Nashua last night. I waded out to the island and had it all to myself. That is the first time in 10 days I haven’t seen at least two people fishing the island. Chartrusse twisters and firetiger cranbaits worked.I only landed males 16-18 inches. They would drop their milt if you handled them to much.Myself and one other guy(shore fishing) had some bigger fish on but they were located in the tailout of the pools and hooks would pull loose once they decided to come to the surface.I saw him break off three different times on fish. The dam shut the flow down about 8:00 and the water level dropped 1&1/2 feet in the next hour.I’ve never seen it drop like that there.Small males was all after that.See ya out there.JD
March 25, 2004 at 6:06 pm #298229It must have been a dream.Last night the fish didn’t move up on the shelf like they did the night before(2-5ft).All the walleyes we caught were at the base of the shelf(9ft) and the size wasn’t great. I hope they were just taking a break. I’ll try it again tonight.Report from below the dam at Nashua last night was LOTS of people and slow bite.See ya out there!JD
March 24, 2004 at 6:08 pm #298080The water has dirtied and cold off a bit from the temps last week. The fishing has slowed and the big fish are scarce.20 people fishing last night with only a few little ones was the report a friend gave me.I tried a spot I hadn’t fished in the spring before and had a great night. The water is a lot cleaner and water temp was 43degrees.White twisters/minnow and Kalins(salt&pepper)produced 10 fish over 18″.Biggest was 25″.Heading back tonight to see if it was a dream.See ya,JD
March 19, 2004 at 4:06 pm #297480No big fish last night.4 Northerns around 4lbs though. Still a lot of action on the Cotton candy Kalins. I tried chartrusse and hot pink without a bite and went back to the cotton candy with immediate response.Northerns hit white(glow)Walleye Assasins.Going to put the boat in and try above Charles City Sat.See ya out there.
March 18, 2004 at 6:58 pm #29736614 to 16 is average with a couple everynight over 19 but don’t tell anyone. I hesitate posting this because of the pressure it gets but the people on this site are the ones I wouldn’t mind fishing next too. I use this site to get my info so I figured I owe a little info. Cotton candy Kalins in the 3-5 inch have been the best.Bigger fish have all been on the 5 inch.I’ll be there again tonight.See ya,JD
March 17, 2004 at 6:35 pm #297144Below the dam at Nashua has been steady all week.It will be crowded this weekend. Bring waders to access more water.Everything I’ve thrown has caught fish.
