6lb 8oz. Caught on 3/31/12. Don’t mind the stupid looking camo deal around my neck. It was cold that day!

Caught this one out on the river today. It went 6 lbs 8 oz. Felt awfully good while I was freezing my butt off out there!

TT did a real good job with that review. Parts 1 and 2 are definitely worth reading. Like Jon mentioned, Seaguar makes quality fluorocarbon across the board with Invizx and Abrazx. Sunline also makes great fluorocarbons as well as monos and their FX2 braid. If you’re willing to spend some buck, check out Sunline Shooter. I love the stuff!

25 lb Sunline Shooter for flipping around wood and general flipping. 60 lb Sunline FX2 for punching and flipping around heavy cover.

Being around Lansing with Big Lake, Phillipi Lake, the other backwaters on the Iowa side along with cuts below the Lansing bridge, you could definitely get by with a mud motor! I’ve seen many people out doing what you’re looking to do.

I’ve got a PS3 Boone! I “game” with my buddies that go to different schools than I do on real crappy days between classes and studying. I don’t know what gaming is on the weekends when I’m fishing and hunting.

I think the trick is maximum number of drops, watch your line, hit will be on the first fall!!

I would say 70% of the time I get bit on the fall with the majority of those fish being smaller. I usually get my bigger bites after a couple hops.

Once you get the technique down, you’ll be addicted!

I’ve been using a Paycheck Baits punch skirt with a 1/2-3/4 oz tungsten weight depending on how thick the vegetation is. Anywhere there is thick junk, even if there are small holes, I consider it to be “punching.” Catching a few fish with this technique, as with most others, will boost your confidence and you will feel more efficient with it.

A big key to being successful with punching is having the ability to notice those subtle differences in the vegetation you’re punching. Some are relatively obvious, but once you find those key little changes it can make a world of difference.

I’ve been out on 9 for the last couple of days and it’s dirty. Clearer than Pool 10 though. About 6 inches of visibility in most places. There are some clear water areas though however, but it just takes some looking around to find them.

Not much of a fan of the NBA either, although during the NBA finals it can be somewhat entertaining because they actually play to their potential. Anyways, yeah LeBron is laying an egg. Game after game! . 11 Points in 5 games during the 4th quarter. That’s ridiculous for having to NBA MVP trophies..

    Thanks Jeff! .

Chad, we caught them on swimjigs in 3′-6″ of water. The key was really popping the jig out of the grass to get that reaction bite.

I used Gamakatsus for a summer and had a consistent problem with them bending. I’ve switched to Mustad and have never looked back! I just have the confidence they will hold up under any kind of strain or pressure you put them through.

I haven’t used them at all, but I think Glenn Walker might be able to help you out with this one! . Have definitely heard good things about them as well.

Brian…The new 7’6″ hvy cover micro guide rod is sweet.

Everyone has their preference. I had numerous complaints about the Mojo series when I was at Cabelas a couple weekends ago.

I thought the Mojo’s were the best thing out there for a while. I started experimenting and found I like Powell Rods the best. Like it seems to be with most everything, it all boils down to personal preference, what you’re confident in, and what you’re most comfortable with. To each their own. Lets just go fishing!
