No it was a MN lake. Totally illegal. A few poachers give the rest a bad name. I was talking to a good friend that’s a harpooner today about it; and it makes him as mad as anyone.

We boated a 52 that Sunday on the second cast, it was the only fish we saw other than a Perch follow on Saturday. Unfortunately at some point in its life it had been harpooned by a poacher just ahead of the dorsal so the rear of the fish was underdeveloped with a big hump in her back.

By far its the St. Croix Tournament Legend Big Dawg. if that thing ever breaks you’ll get a new one; not even the slightest bit of hassle.
Last summer I snapped a Avid, I printed a fed ex shipping label off their site for $11.00, within 3 days I have a call telling they have bad news. Its broke and they cant replace it with another Avid so they will give me a Tourney Legend if I dont have a problem with that. 2 days later I have my new rod with warranty; lifetime warranty.

A friend just ordered a Chinese POS rod last week for 90 or 110 shipped, it got to him broken; now they say all the 8’6″ rods are back ordered..

Best for the money is St. Croix lowest price is something I have no experience with because I value my time on the water to the highest degree. I’m sure many have great experiences with a Asian product; god bless their hearts.

Ive used them all pretty much, I was not a fan of PP, it just doesnt seem to lay on the reel right or cast like others. Ive used Tuff-line plus and xp on many set ups and had no problem ever except it throws lots of water; great in 80deg but not in 25 deg situations.

Ive been using Masterbraid bronzeback for about 4-5 years and would have to say its the best Ive used for casting and trolling. Casting I use only 80# and trolling 130#, Casting you need the 80 for backlashes and trolling if your pulling large cranks it wont dig in as bad.

I have the suffix on a older Calcutta 400 that I let friends use and have not had an issue yet, but it hasnt seen much water either. I’m really not a fan generally because its made in Taiwan or some 3rd world country.

How did they know what sex they were at 2″? or did you mean feet? possibly there is no good spawning areas for pike so the stocking is controlling the population.

Its a start, I guess. Lets hear it for the private sector!

They applied for $350,000.00 from the Heritage fund, lets hear it for the taxpayers of MN, especially the 56% that voted to have their taxes raised for things like this….

I dont think the study invoked any insight into size, generally large numbers of Pike mean small fish due to the fact they are extremely slow growing, its recently been noted that not even the cleth bone is accurate in Pike age after 30 inches.

Walleyes grow quickly to eater size and having higher numbers of eater walleye and Perch with reduced stocking cost would be a good thing IMHO if all that was needed was eating some smaller Pike and letting the larger ones grow and control their own numbers.

Thanks for posting this Brian, MMPA is working hard to keep Muskie fishing in MN the best of the best and keep what we have for Pike going. Far too many people consider Pike a garbage fish.
