Again, nice fish Bob! Glad I could be there to help with the landing of that beast. Well said Joe, I thought we were out for fun, not bragging rights. Jeeesh.
March 24, 2007 at 12:35 am #552733They’re still biting. Figured with the warm weather i’d get out there today and give it a go. Ended up doing okay. Caught 8 today. All above 11 inches except one which was a 10. Biggest being 12.5 inches. Had a mixed bag with 2 white bass, and some carp as well. All in all a good time. I was fishing pool 1 using 1/32 & 1/16 jigs under a float. The bright colors worked the best (yellow, pink, chart.)Anyways, Good luck out there. Should be a good weekend for some fishing.
March 24, 2007 at 12:26 am #552730Nice fish Audemp & Co. I got down there a little later than expected last night so sorry i missed it. Ended up there around 8pm or so and fished with Manny and his son for a bit. The fish were still biting here and there until around 10pm. Same bait choice. Same spot. Seems they really like that area lately!
February 21, 2007 at 5:36 am #539526I went to the one in Richfield. Its off of 76th & Nicollet. Good luck.
February 19, 2007 at 2:39 am #538601I was out at Menards 2 weeks ago and picked up a Paulin “sunflower heater” for $26. I’d check them out.
February 1, 2007 at 6:23 pm #531322Lol… Pug your welcome. The only thing I regret about that situation is not taking a picture… I’m just glad we happened to be around that night… who knows what may have become of you.
February 1, 2007 at 3:00 am #531078I gotta go with the shad too. I not only saw numbers of fish caught but also good size while using them.
Dtro… for the record on the bullhead wine thing… I have gaged. And that was while approaching Daves van from 10 ft. away as he kindly asked me for help in the dumping of the cooler process. Hot summer days and trapped bullheads in the back of daves van is a never a good thing. Pretty nasty stuff!!…… I’m sure he is laughing as he reads this…..
February 1, 2007 at 2:46 am #531066I’ll be there. And i’ll be betting that Tyler takes all of your dollars. He has good success at that location if memory serves me right. See ya all there come April!!!
November 6, 2006 at 10:39 pm #496607First the poor guy gets skunked out on the water the day before,(along with the rest of us) then he gets skunked big time at his own shop. What a shame. Its too bad there are people out there ruining a good thing for not only Bob, but for the rest of us honest people the do buisness there. I dont condone stealing one bit, but if you are gonna do it, rob cabelas, or gander. Atleast they can take a little more of the hit.>>>(again I dont condone it) Like Dave said earlier, another one of these incidents and we wont have a shop to hang out at. I dont blame Bob if it comes to that. Pretty crappy event here. Sorry to hear about the news Bob.
October 3, 2006 at 12:27 am #484866Welcome aboard Jake. Nice fish in Brians other post too! And a side note… I was wondering if you would ever come on here. YOu may or may not remember, but we’ve met one another down on the river banks. I was fishing alone one night in the lilydale area and you, your lady and 2 friends that work at Joe’s (I believe) showed up and gave pretty good company for the rest of evening. Anyways, good to see ya on here, whether you remeber me or not. – Karl
October 3, 2006 at 12:18 am #484863Nice fish Joe, Dave, Phil & Company. Looks like the fish sizes are slowly getting bigger and bigger. Looks like Brandy has some competition lately. Maybe she better get out there one of these days and see if she cant top her own fish before one of you do!! Anyways, all kidding aside, nice fish!!!
September 25, 2006 at 5:59 pm #482385I got out last night to see if i could still catch fish seeing as my talent with the sturgeon sucks and to my surprise i was actually able to land a few. Missed a ton as well but the biggest two of the night ended up being a healthy 7 & 9 lber. I was using the same bait as you (thanks bob) I fished areas with some current. Fished from 6:15pm to 9:30pm with the bite picking up from 7:30 to 8:30. Good luck, they are still out there and still feeding.
September 18, 2006 at 4:21 pm #480009“You are so right about magnets! One half mile wide river and they have to come with in 300 yards of shore and within 100 feet of an anchored boat.”
Its crazy out there…. i dont know how many times this happened to us over the weekend. Last night we were anchored had lights on, etc. and huge cruiser comes within 30ft of out boat. Not kidding this was close. Dave and I do the joint effort yelling at him, and his excuse was that he didnt know what we were! WTF!!! you didnt know what we were??? Gee, what has a white light, a green and a red and bobs up in down in the water not moving. Give me a break. Anyways, my little rant there…..be cautious out there, cuz they’re not. But anyways, the contest was awesome….I didnt catch much, but it was pretty cool watching Dave and Brandy slay the fish all weekend. The monster was obvously unbelieveable. Thanks to all of those out there that helped our boat out in one way or another (pictures, food, etc) it was a great time!
September 11, 2006 at 6:08 pm #477427Hey, way to go Ryan. Glad to hear you got on some fish last night. Wish i would have been so lucky. Dave and Brandy brought a few in, but none here. Anyways, It was good to meet ya. We’ll see ya around.
September 10, 2006 at 8:17 pm #477095Whisker & I got out with FisherDave last night for our first ever Sturgeon outing. What a blast that was! Weather was decent, boat traffic was non existant, fish were biting here and there and the comedy was at its usual peak. Anyways I was witness to 5 fish. 3 of which were well into the mid 30s and 2 well into the 40s. Guess who got the 40s….. yep, the ever lucky WhiskerHooked. I dunno maybe the one that gave Dave a beating from was in the 40s… anyways, way cool stuff. My do these things fight hard. Cant wait to get out again. Thanks for the trip Dave.
September 8, 2006 at 5:07 pm #476606I guess i’m not too bummed out the boat was full then… although it would have been good to catch up with ya Dave. Sorry to hear ya didnt have more luck.
Oh.. did you hear me yell at ya as i drove by when you were waiting for Ocatviaus (sp.?)
August 30, 2006 at 5:41 am #427447Wow, lots of people to reply to here….
FIrst off, Tyler and Dan. Good to finally meet you in person after reading your posts here and there…. Sorry the fishing kinda sucked…Dave…. thanks for the pizza hookup… that really hit the spot…And i have to agree, having some ladies around aint a bad thing. Especially when its your very own lady!
Steve, it was good to see you again…. thanks for giving Brandy some crap. SHe still doesnt think she met you….but shell come to grips with it..
Anyways, all in all a pretty decent night as the weather couldnt have gotten any better and the people were great. just too bad the fish sucked. And Dave, you’re right… we went back down on SUnday and they were biting… Brandy caught a nice one and we missed a bunch.
August 30, 2006 at 5:26 am #427792nice pics sherry. i new that rod one would be a good shot. too bad there arent any of me holding a fish…. and brandy too for that matter. oh well, it was still fun.
August 24, 2006 at 4:00 pm #471984Mr. Special,
It was good to finally meet you. Too bad about that pole. Hopefully fleet farm will help ya out, or you could always go with Gary’s idea. Anyways, things kept going pretty good last night after you left. However, we missed a lot of fish…… kinda like Gary. Did Manage to bring 2 channels in though. Biggest being about 5lbs. Hope to see ya out there again.
Oh, and Gary, good to see ya again!
August 18, 2006 at 12:06 am #470394Again, a slow night for me but a great time. It was awesome seeing Bob bring that 15lber in. What a fish! As far as the carp Sherry, well… all i can say is when the carp start biting your gizzard shad, its time to go home. The thing actually barely fought too. I did the hook set and thought i had missed the fish at first, so i just started reeling in to change the bait over and all of a sudden there is a fish lying on shore. kinda wierd. Anyways, all in all a good time. If you’re having trouble catching cats, now is the time to head over to Moore’s and get some shad. Its the only thing working for us lately.
August 16, 2006 at 5:35 pm #469827Sherry, well done on the post! Holy cow, you tell a good story! Anyways, it was a blast fishing last night.Even though 3 of us didnt catch anything I enjoyed watching the other two reeling fish in. I think Brandy’s hooked, and was awfully proud of that 10lber last night. I just wish the thing wouldnt have given the reel a sand bath. I was up until 2 taking the thing apart and cleaning it last night. Anyways, we’ll get out again soon.
Gary — I agree with Sherry, its about time we see you around again. Give that boat of yours a rest for a bit
Brian, on the Moores Bait Hat. — Funny you should bring that up, as she actually has wanted one for sometime now. Its just a matter of that Moore’s Bait guy getting around to ordering some more up. He’s been out for a while.
August 7, 2006 at 1:13 am #466963Way to go Larry & Dtro! Glad to see someone was able to catch some fish. It sure was slow for us all night and into the early morning. Not even so much as a nibble or thunk on the rod. One heck of a lightning show though! That made things interesting, the rain was pretty crazy too. Oh well, there is always next time.
Oh.. and Pug, you’re welcome for the wake up call. We figured when we hadnt heard from you once you moved downstream a little that you must have fallen asleep. Sure enough, after yelling over to you with no response we eventually found you fast asleep. Glad we checked…. who knows what could have become of you… anyways, good seeing ya again.
August 4, 2006 at 5:47 pm #466670Well, me and my cousin are all signed up and ready to go out there and miss some runs The pot was up to about $150 on the board I think. Anybody else getting in on this?
Sherry, be happy to fish with ya. What exactly is the plan anyways? Are we all still camping somewhere??
August 2, 2006 at 4:16 pm #466032Yea, It was pretty fun out there last night. I cant remember the last time I’ve actually had constant action every 15 – 20 minutes or so like we did last night. It felt good to have something to look forward to instead of just sitting there. And Dave, I think you hit it on the head, I felt a little dumb last night driving home thinking about how akward some of those hook sets / missed runs were. But I think you are right…. everybodys probably just a little rusty when it comes to catching fish lately. Oh well, it was still a great time out. Hopefully the weekend is equally eventfull.
July 27, 2006 at 6:22 pm #464397Gocatfish, it was good to meet you up at Moore’s yesterday. Glad to see you got some good action out there on the water. You and Larry had more luck than our group. We only managed a few smaller channels and a walleye. Oh well. Anyways, see ya around…..
July 20, 2006 at 7:47 pm #462137I wish I had Pauls bike, and was known as “motorcycle Karl”! …Anyways, Brian, i’ve heard lots about ya so i’ll look forward to meeting you.
