I ran the Kdrill for a few seasons but switched to LiteFlite and never looked back. They are a lot faster, less battery/ wera n tear on your drill.

I require a blade change usually about 3/4 way through, but i do drill a lot of holes every time out. Cool, part is they use the standard Lazer blades and you can pretty much find them anywhere.

I use orange because it’s easier to see.

Makes it easier to see bites esp with them swim up with it. I caught a few fish last wkend just from seeing the line goes slack

I personal prefer glass rods for cats n sturgeons esp when using C-hooks but have used graphite and I think it should do ok.

It’s been a long high water season, but at least it isn’t as bad as down South. We could be fishing out of our backyards. Or like the kid in StillH20, catchin gills out of the storm sewer.

Shhhh, Brain thats Steve’s bait guy lol
pretty sure the 1st fish was a prefect bully.

i usually run gami 6/0-8/0 circles and 80lbs mono as a leader or just my main line which is 80 superline. i dont think sturgeons are leader shy at all.

when targeting i like find active feeding fish. simplest way is to look for the birds. i like to use casting spoons, top water plug or in-line spinners. tough to say ur targeting wallys using those types of lures =)
u might get alot of smallies tho lol

I think that would be a good set up the light weight will be huge if you plan to cast all day. If you’re going after trophy pay you might want to consider a 40 series reel and packed with 30 or even 40 pound test of some super line I prefer suffix but have had good luck with spider wire stealth or power pro.

I agree with BK. He seems to know a thing or 2 bout flats.

I personally wouldn’t use less then 3oz weights. A good lively bait will move anything lighter even in clam waters.
    I like bank style sinkers

I keep it pretty simple reel spoiled with 80pp
    My go to rig
3-6oz bank sinkers attached to a sinker slider, #200swivels, 8-12″ leader of my main line then tied to a 10/0 gama octopus hook
Weights and hooks can vary depending on current and bait

i had a ost a couple yrs ago to snell or not to snell

i personally do snell my hooks and i use #80 mono ande leader stuff. it is tough to do, leave your self alot of excess tag end helps.
however, with said alot fo my saltwater buds are tired of snellin knots and most of them use unit knots or palomar knots. i’ve been using them more and i do think i might change to uni’s/palomars myself. alot easier to tie and i havent seen a single break off.

not to sound cocky but ive caught and seen 5′ tarpons, big bull reds, big ole snooks, 7′ bulsharks and 8′ stingrays caught on a Uni or palomar knot

best thing about a palomar is u can do it in the dark fairly easy =D

With that said, I’m use to 8-12# leaders as well like Joe mentioned. But it’s obviously time to upgrade bc last night was frustrating as ell.

Time to break in the big pole!!

i remember when i first started cattin and thinking #15-20 mono was heavy line. but every time i lost a fish or had a heartbreaking situation i kept upgrading to beefier gear to where im at now

i’ve seen mid teens channels from that stretch and wouldnt doubt fish over #20 are swimming around up there
its been rumored that the State record channel of #38 is from that area
