Don’t be too QUICK or you’ll leave SILVER (hull) and gold
(wallet) on the rocks and at the shop.
What side of the lake are you planning on fishing ?
If the west side – I don’t have much info.
The East side, I can help. GUIDEMAN was pretty much
on the nose, common sense will preserve a lot of lower
units. Pay close attention to all Bouys and give them a
wide berth. Some have very shallow rock a good
distance from the marker.
A good GPS route / Chart plotter can be invaluable if
caught out at night – great nite bite – so you could be
tempted. If castin’ for SKI onto wind and wave
pounded humps/points/islands/shore be careful,
the granite comes up quick or a lone “rock” can chew
up the TM or ding the prop/lower unit, with a worst
case of being ‘beached” on the granite only to be
pounded by waves. I’ll I can say is, aluminium can
take a mean beating on the rocks while retrieving a
$40.00 jerk bait Or bobbing through the
Fectos point ‘boulder field’ in heavy seas
burnin’ hair and jerkin’ wood !!
On dead calm days there are a few places to view
the ‘remains’ of lower units
Great lake, simply beautiful scenery and fantastic
multi-species angling opportunities.
You will not be disapppointed.
