#5 IDOFebruary 12, 2018 at 12:20 pm #1751698I use longer rods so I can stand up and still keep my rod tip right at the water. I found this really helps with my back and knees.
December 2, 2017 at 12:03 am #1732099These are what I use. Doesn’t matter the brand just a string style bobber stop. Not certain but I am pretty sure this is the style the IDO crew uses.
October 31, 2017 at 10:30 pm #1724509First show of the season on ice!?!? That would have to be a first.
Nope. Season 9 episode 1
October 31, 2017 at 10:17 pm #1724508Garmin and Lowrance have some options for ice. Garmin has the striker 4 for $200 and Lowrance has the Hook 4 for $279 at Cabela’s. The only possible issue with these is that I believe they only have graph mode. So if you prefer the round flasher dial presentation these might not be for you. You could also look for last years Marcum units. Most places I’ve seen them so far they have been marked down quite a bit.
October 31, 2017 at 9:54 pm #1724504As before stated I would avoid clam products like the plague! Just a thought but why don’t you use your Cabela’s bucks to cover a portion of the otter hideout and pay the difference? Otter is absolutely the best shelter on the market!
October 31, 2017 at 6:00 pm #1724456I agree with Werm. The forecast definitely looks promising. I am hoping for walk out fishing by thanksgiving here in the metro.
October 31, 2017 at 5:48 pm #1724454Last year one of my sons and I went up to the family cabin for a weekend of ice fishing. After we got everything loaded we took off to the lake. After unloading the wheeler and otter I asked my son where the Marcums were at? He gave me the deer in the headlights look and said that he forgot them. We were on a completely new body of water that I had absolutely no clue about. We headed out and fished and did ok for ourselves and we still have a good laugh about it. Electronics are great and I enjoy using them but I don’t think I would ever give up fishing time just because I didn’t have them.
October 30, 2017 at 9:16 pm #1724231I think they are the best on the market! They are very bright and can be placed anywhere you want them with no attaching hardware. They also have the built in dimmer. I bought 2 sets for my otter cabin and was able to link them together and use only one battery connection and one dimmer controls them all. I got mine at the Thorne Bros ice event and even some of the pro staff from other brands were buying them to install in there shacks!
October 30, 2017 at 1:07 pm #1724129Does everything you need to transfer over your LX7 come with the shuttle? Do you have to have a different power cord to run from the shuttle to the head unit?
All you need is the head unit and the transducer. Everything else comes with the shuttle.
October 25, 2017 at 5:24 pm #1723144I picked 2 of these up at the game fair and thought it would work really well on my lithium shuttle. I like the fact that during transport my lx7 and shuttle will be protected and when ready to use it just unzip the hoodie and pull it out. Won’t have to mess around with the lid.

October 11, 2017 at 11:52 am #1720251I believe most Napa stores carry kroil. If you can’t find any I’ve got a half can or so you can have. Pm me if interested.
September 13, 2017 at 6:23 pm #1715087I would just put it on Craigslist and not worry about it. But if you want to repair it maybe try some of that spray on flex seal. You can get a spray can of it at Walmart for 12 or 13 dollars and it has worked well for me when I’ve used it.
July 19, 2017 at 12:19 pm #1705482I got a copy on my email last week. I didn’t see any new shelters but they did have some new accessories.
May 30, 2017 at 5:29 pm #1696765Get one of these kind of spark testers and just unplug the wire from the plug, connect tester in line between the end of the wire and the plug and start it. You will be able to see the spark in the center. Hope this helps.

March 15, 2017 at 9:52 pm #1681627Clam makes a couple of light weight 2 man flip overs. The portage and nanook weigh in at around 80 pounds. I have never owned one of these but from what I’ve seen they aren’t that great. I didn’t really get the impression that they were made to last. I do have an otter Xt1200 cabin and that thing is awesome!! It weighs in around 100 pounds and I hand dragged mine for 2 seasons and unless there was a ton of snow on the ice it dragged pretty well. I don’t know if you can stand straight up in it, I’m 6’2 and I can’t, but the seats are very comfy and easily removable if needed. It is also super warm and quiet on windy days. After having an otter I really don’t think that I would even consider anything else. Imho they are the best shacks on the market. Hope this helps. Good luck on your search.
February 21, 2017 at 11:07 am #1675750There is a screw behind the choke plate on the carb that adjusts the idle. Back that screw off about 1/8 of a turn and start your auger. If it still turns shut of auger and repeat as necessary. I had the same issue with my lazer mag this year and doing this took care of it. Hope this helps!
February 21, 2017 at 11:01 am #1675744I like your style Dave! I am really looking forward to next ice season in hopes that it’s better than the last couple!
