Look for a transom lift bracket. They are a fully welded piece that slips over and bolt on your transom to raise up the kicker. I run a T-8 on my 185 and I have enough room to tilt my engine up but the tiller handle hits the gunnel when I turn it. I saw this setup the other day and I am switching to it I just need to make sure the bracket will bolt to my existing holes in the transom.

I run a 185 Alumacraft tournament sport (walk through windshield). Actual length on this is 18′-10″. I have a yamaha 200 and a T-8 hung on the back and load her down with lots of gear and people all the time. I can get up and go anytime I want and top out at about 48-53 depending on wind and waves. With the higher sides on the trophy about equal to my extra gear and motor with a light load and a 150 you should see close to that. Keep in mind the lighter your load the better you will be because the engine it self is much lighter than mine just doesn’t have as much torque.

Not me. It is same boat and motor as mine but I have a full windshield. You can catch me around the north end of mille lacs or on the flats. 99% of the time. I usually run out of doc’s harbor because its close to home.

Ok, thanks! I fished my first official eye tourny last weekend and had a blast. Looking to gain some knowledge and try to get in the money sometime.

I have a 2005 t.s. 185 with a f200 and a t8 kicker, stock 21p prop 2 ppl I am only seeing 40-45 depending on wind and waves. Not sure on rpms but I was hoping for 50 + prior to purchase, think a prop would get me there?

My 2005 185 tourny sport has rod tubes stock built in the passenger side gunnal, you may be able to get this from alumacraft and install? I am disappointed in my center rod storage because the tubes are so small the last eyelet on my spinning rods will not allow the rod to go in far enough to allow the handle to go in on the rear part.
