Awesome looking rig! I have a 2017 1890 BT with the non SHO 90 Yamaha. I get about 35-36 mph depending on which prop I have on. What speed are you seeing with the SHO?

Not sure if anybody watches Randy Newberg hunting videos but I think he has some of the best information out there on elk hunting that isn’t hyped up marketing. He uses a .308 on elk a lot and speaks highly of the .308 and it’s capabilities for elk hunting.

Check out Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg if you enjoy Meateater. Newberg was born and raised in Minnesota and now lives in Montana. The shows are available on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. I like Newberg because his content is realistic and you see both success and failure.

I had a 2007 Suzuki 150 on my Yar Craft tiller. It was the best motor I’ve ever owned. I have a Mercury on the boat I have now and it hasn’t had any issues but I’d rather have a Suzuki.

I’ve been around since at least 2005 and maybe before. Don’t post a whole lot but do lots of reading here.

Fleet Farm went way down hill when it was sold by the Mills Family to a private equity company. These private equity companies come in and try to reduce expenses and increase profits for stock holders. They treat employees like garbage and and customer service quickly goes down hill. Support your local bait and tackle shop or hardware store and you will probably have a better experience. I live within 5 minutes of Carver Fleet Farm and it is embarrassing to see how bad it is in there.

Did well last Friday/Saturday fishing in 30 fow about 4 miles out. Had to sort through small saugers but caught plenty of fish. The walleye to sauger ratio wasn’t the best. Fish seemed to want rattle baits like buckshot or similar JR’s rattle spoon. Pink and red best colors as usual. Don’t be afraid to pound bottom a lot to get their attention.

Thanks for the information. I ordered a box of XTP in 44 caliber 300 grain and also the green Harvest Sabots. I’m looking forward to trying this combo out with the Blackhorn 209.

There is some excellent information in this thread. I’m going to try out some different XTP’s and the Harvester sabots in my TC Encore and Impact. Will I need to change out my breech plugs if I start shooting the BH 209? I bought the impact new last year and I just bought the Encore used this year. The Encore doesn’t have the speed breech but rather the regular breech. The gun is probably 8 to 10 years old. Any info on if my existing breech plugs will work with BH 209 would be appreciated. Thanks.

Our group of 3 hunted public land in Lac Qui Parle County from 9 to 3 on Saturday. It was windy but it didn’t really rain or snow while we were hunting. We ended up with 3 birds. Could have had a couple more with some better luck. Lots of crops still in the field and obviously super wet.

Sorry to hear. It is never easy. It was 5 years ago last week that I had to put down my 9.5 year old lab because of a cancerous tumor like you describe. The house felt empty without a dog. Needless to say, we got another lab about 7 months later and that helped.

Hang in there and remember all the memories you had together.

I would switch to Remington Accutip’s and not look back. Had the same issue with Hornady’s. Also, had good luck with the federal sabots with the plastic tip.

Quick question for you grouse hunters, do you have to worry about deer ticks this time of year? I’ve only grouse hunted a few times and it has always been in later November after it freezes. I would like to go but I’m always weary of deer ticks.

I do the majority of my pheasant hunting with a 20 gauge. I really like the Prairie Storm in 3 inch 6 shot and 5 shot for later season. I also use the Fiochii Golden Pheasant and it is good but I like the Prairie Storm better. Runnings has a good selection of both of these brands. There are many Runnings stores in Western MN and both of the Dakotas.

I would also recommend YouTube TV. We have had it for 2 months and it was been great. I’ve heard the YouTube TV interface is better than Hulu.

I was on Winnie at the end of May and we caught lots of fish. Maybe 1 out of 3 or 4 was keeper sized. I believe they need to be over 26″ to keep on the over side of the slot.

I passed through there years ago with an 1890 Warrior. It was shallow but doable. If I recall, there are some rock hazards on either side of that culvert that aren’t well marked. Beware of those.

I just dropped my DirecTV for YoutubeTV. If you have high speed internet I would cut the cord. I had DirecTV for over 20 years but it just kept getting more expensive.

I am amazed at how many people I see driving down the road without their rear straps strapped. Accident waiting to happen.

I would suggest talking to Ricky at Brainerd props. They do a great job.

I’m bringing this old thread up from the bottom…

I’ve got 2 Cabela’s auto inflate vests that are probably 5 years old. I don’t have the paperwork anymore. How often do they need to be re-armed?

I wish I would have tried some for panfish. I’ve always wanted to find the crappies and have never been able to. Were the panfish nice ones?

Actually, after rereading your post I noticed you said trolling against current. I wouldn’t put anything out in the current. Too many things can go wrong putting out something into the current.

Get some trolling bags. These are not drift socks but very similar idea. Most drift socks aren’t made for trolling and will rip if you pull them trolling. I have trolling bags that I use occasionally from Amish Outfitters. Check these out. They are very well made and are popular on the great lakes.

Does anybody know if shiners are available in the area? Coming up Friday and need to know if I should find some on the way up.

We will be coming up to Eagles Nest Lodge for Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully the fishing is more consistent by then. Please provide a few more fishing reports if you continue to get out! Thanks!

Is there a new place to look at historical flows and stage information? I used to look at rivergauges.com and you could run a simple report for flow and stage info. I understand the Corps now has an access to water resources website but I can’t find what I’m looking for on that page. I know this question has probably been asked a bunch but if someone could post a link that would be great.
