I wouldn’t use anything but the Schaffer drop away rest. I work part-time at a indoor archery range and have a lot of pros that shoot in national shoots and all of them say that the schaffer is by far superior to all other brands. Just my 2 cents. Whatever you do- Good Luck

you know- i have been fishing pool 2 for about 10 years pretty consistently now and have never saw a C.O. out there. I have watched numerous people take fish out of that body of water and it is really getting to make me mad. The other day we were down there and a guy had a 29.5″ in his livewell and was bragging about it. We told him he had to put it back and he tried but the fish was dead. . For one thing the bigger fish arent even good to eat so why do people always think that they have to keep these fish. They are the fish that poduce the best for the next and upsoming seasons. Now excuse me for saying this but if these stupid people cant obey laws- or even possibly read the regs about the waters they are fishing then maybe there privledges should be taken away for good. Pool 2 is known for its big eyes and if you know the right places to fish they are always there. We have a spot that consistantly produces HOGS and it was very angering to see this guy kill such a nice fish. Now thanks for letting me vent. On the flip side of this the fishing on pool 2 is really starting to heat up right now. We are pulling crawlers on about 6-8ft leaders in the hammered gold colors. Anybody who has the time to get down there should get in on what I think is one of the best river bites I have seen . Good luck to all and have fun fishing!!
January 12, 2007 at 1:39 am #521236I would buy a polaris hands down. . We currently have a 1999 Polaris sportsman 500 and this thing is bullet proof. The only thing that people really complain about is that the belt slipping on the Polaris. Well two years ago They fixed that so now it can’t happen. We have 11000 yeah thats right 11000 miles on our 99 500 and it has been bullet proof. The only thing that we have had wrong is a bent rim. Woops- that one was due to a little jumping. Other then that the only thing I would really recommend is fuel injection- especially in the cold- makes starting a lot easier. The best machine in my eyes for you would be a 500 ho sportsman. Can go just as fast as any other wheeler out there- goes through the MUD like a S.O.B. and will do anything you command it to. Just my 5 cents.

July 27, 2006 at 2:00 am #18927It depends on how you want to sound in the feild, and personally which call you can make sound good in the feild. I have 2 foiles calls and 2 of the high end H.S. calls and i choose FOILES Hands down. Now to some people spending 150 dollars on a call is outrageous but in the duck and goose call cattegory you pay for what you get. Now that is just my 2 cents.

July 25, 2006 at 1:14 am #463116we are straight accross from the point of the big island, not the point that is nearest the little island but the other point- just straight the main part of the lake and there we are. Right next to the cabin with the Log siding. You should PM me next time you go up and maybe we will have some cocktails at the Looney and do some fishin!!
July 24, 2006 at 2:42 am #462817Platte is a great lake but if you really want nice fish when up there u need to concentrate on the islands and in the west bay with scum frogs. I have grown up on the platte and sullivan lake connection ever since I was born. I think our family has had a cabin on the lakes for about 48 years now. Lots of nice fish and good to here that someone on here also knows about these lakes!!! Good Job Guys
June 4, 2006 at 8:45 pm #451266I also bought my Choclate from Elk River and what a great dog- great in home as well in feild along with some of the best bloodlines in the state. Good luck with your search.

June 4, 2006 at 8:40 pm #451262Our boat had 18 fish for the day and the biggest was 29″. What a hog!!! Will try and get some pics up in a little while but anyways the rest of the fish were the typical 18-24 inchers. What a great day to be down there.
June 4, 2006 at 8:30 pm #451259You should really look at Elk River Kennels and or Oakridge Kennels. Oakridge kennels is in Northfeild. We had our Lab trained there and let me tell you Tom Dokken is fantastic.
