January 27, 2014 at 10:25 am #1383523When hiring a guide to take you fishing, you dont want to spend all day marking the spots your fishing. Take all day to ask questions about why the fish are in this spot, and why your fishing them the way you are. If you do that and hire a guide a couple different times of a year, you can take that knowledge and transform it into success on other lakes and different spots on the lake you were guided on. This is just my opinion.
Good luckJanuary 16, 2014 at 10:00 pm #1380435Lakes that dont have walleyes in them to begin with and have alot of other fish like northerns and largemouth etc…. and we try to introduce walleyes to them or even increase the number of walleye in some lakes that dont have a huge population, is going to be hard to accomplish because stocked walleyes normally tend to hangout closer to the weed sand therefore are more impacted by largemouth and northerns. Walleyes that annually live in lakes and spawn there tend to grow up withtheir year classes and follow the deep structure living and deep flat feeding that most walleyes do. Dont get me wrong here i am going offthings i have read but i believe in this because i fish lakes with stocked walleyes only and lakes that have had walleyes long before i was around.
I hope this helps and I read that in books so its prolly not true because i didnt read it on the interent.
December 25, 2013 at 12:14 am #1374094He is more of an open water guy, I cant blame him either, 6 hour drive to lake of the woods with…. well pool 4 in the backyard, I dont think I would make the drive either

MikeDecember 24, 2013 at 7:58 pm #1374062Good report Ben, I need to get up there again and it will have to be mid to late january after I return from a heat blast in St. John. Ill be ready to hit the ice again after that trip thats for sure. This weekend im gonna hit LOTWs and hopefully have some success, then again, if I dont I can only blame myself on a body of water like that!!

MikeNovember 26, 2013 at 9:08 am #1366719Happy birthday guys!
Greg, I hope your out on the water today and I WISH I was down there going after the walleyes with you!! Have a good day!
MikeNovember 22, 2013 at 7:59 pm #1365983I would say yes. I fish many spots like this on lakes around my area. Like some of the others have said start out deeper during the day, then work shallower during the evening hours. One tip I do have is when you get a spot that you believe should have fish, be patient with it. Be careful how early in the day you start because you might go all day not getting fish in the deep or shallow water, but come evening time the fish will most likely turn on in the shallower water. I have had that problem before . Almost no matter what lake you fish, the sharpest break to the deepest water will hold the biggest fish in that lake. Im talking walleyes by the way. . Good luck fishing
