NEW Tripwire rod added to arsenal…

There is now a Medium Light option Tripwire rod! The original model is a Light action spring with a Finesse blanks. The new model is a Medium Light spring with a Perch rod. But remember, you can have either one of these springs/wires added to your rod(s).

The new Medium Light option is an excellent choice for those looking to chase panfish and perch over deeper water and expansive flats. Also works well with small jigging spoons too!

Check them out… Thorne Bros Tripwire Rods – CLICK HERE

Any questions don’t hesitate to ask them right here or contact the store… 763-572-3782.

    Thanks!

The Finesse blank is a touch stiffer than the Quiverstick. At this point they are an order only item… but we plan on putting as many on the floor as we can in between filling orders…

Here is a response directly from our rod shop…

“Sorry about the delay, the blanks have been on order since June. There have been a couple of set-backs with the material and only a handful of blanks have actually shown up. We are filling orders in the order they came in by date. When our shipment of blanks arrives we will put them on top priority. We literally have hundreds of orders waiting on Power Noodles blanks so we’re waiting anxiously just like everyone. We really appreciate the patience and support on this situation. Thanks. TB Rod Shop.”

Please spread the word on this issue if the question is asked. Thanks.

Here’s a couple more points to hopefully shed the light on the Rose Creek boxes…

Every year the engineers designing these boxes tweak the Taper Lock system so it holds jigs tighter. I know they re-did a batch last year and made improvements on them. Rose Creek is coming up with a plan so that anyone who has an older box can pay a small fee and have the pads replaced with the new, tighter Taper Locks for holding jigs. I will try and let everyone know what that plan entails as the details get worked out. It will be a minimal fee to have all your old boxes changed over to the new and improved pads. Bottom line here, Rose Creek wants all of their customers to be happy.

Second big point with the Rose Creek boxes… How many of you knew that there is a right and wrong way to place a jig into the Rose Creek Jig Box? If you look closely at the pads there is a pitcture of a jig/fly and you want the hook direction to mimic that picture. The Taper Lock feature of the Rose Creek Jig Box is designed for a jig to be placed that particular way. The Taper Lock pads are actually tapered, and when you place a jig in the slot and slide it down slightly it will actually get tighter and hold those size 16 jigs. I’ve seen too many people put jigs in backwards or wrong when using these boxes. Then once the jig is even put in the right way a lot of people don’t realize they can slide the jig down for an even tighter fit.

I know Joel Nelson knows this trick and that is probably one of the reasons he hasn’t had any problems with his.

Unfortunately though, some of the initial versions of the Rose Creek Jig Box were not designed around size 14 and 16 hooks, so those are not going to work as well with the earlier models, but I do know that the most recent models are holding jigs of all sizes when placed correctly…

Thanks to everyone who made it out to this event! I think it’s safe to say everyone had a great time and fun was had by all! It’s always exciting to see so many ice fishing diehards roaming around in one area in the month of September!

The Top 3 modifications went to…

1st Place – Randy Rowell (won an Otter Wild Thermal Magnum Lodge Package)
2nd Place – Charlie Rydmark (won a Vexilar Fish Scout 1000 Underwater Camera)
3rd Place – Chris Lafean (won a Marcum LX-3tc Flasher)

Honorable Mention goes to Johny Range (who tied with Chris Lafean but was beat by a coin toss)

Overall, all of the modifications were outstanding! The effort put into these was amazing and I think we definitely set a new bar for years to come!

On top of the many modifications, we had a lot of industry support. Special thanks go out to the following companies for attending the event and for offering up their time to help the sport grow as well as the donations for the prize raffles…

    Clam Corporation
    Frabill
    Otter Outdoors
    Eskimo
    Vexilar
    Marcum
    Aqua Vu
    Strikemaster
    Jiffy
    Rose Creek
    Solution Tackle Systems
    Ice Armor
    SnoSuit
    Cold Snap Outdoors
Pure Fishing (Berkley, Fenwick, Abu Garcia…)
    Today’s Tackle
Tim Allard (Ultimate Ice Guide Book)
    Kahtoola

Also a HUGE thank you goes to Matt Ribar (and his wife) for slaving over the grease to provide the event with all-you-can-eat cheese curds! I think I speak for all of us that those were VERY good!

I would also like to thank Corey Bechtold, Pat Rodger and Mike Rodger for giving some outstanding seminars!

And last, but not least, thank you to Josh and the Thorne Bros staff for going the extra mile to make sure everything went smoothly. Josh provided all the excellent fish as well as the venue to host such a fun event! I know the staff at the store worked exceptionally hard during the weeks leading up to the event to make sure the store was stocked with ice fishing gear… and it’s safe to say Thorne Bros is the first store around to have darn-near their full line of ice fishing gear out in Septmeber!

If you would like to check out some pictures from the event please go to the following link… 2011 Portable Modification Get Together Pictures – CLICK HERE

I also encourage anyone else who had pictures of the event to please post them here!

Thanks again for all of the support with the event and best of luck this winter on the ice!

The Perch Sweet Heart and Perch Sweet Heart Plus are the same rod. For some reason there were a couple years where the “Plus” got added to the end for no reason, and some people still reference that… however, they are both the same rod. The “Plus” will no longer be a part of the equation…

No need to worry, we are well-stocked on Perch Sweet Heart rods and will have a 28″ Perch inside for you when you come on Saturday. While we don’t have every rod in-stock, you will see that a few hundred adorn the rack

Finesse Plus… Power Noodles… Quiversticks… Sweet Things… Professional Plus… Perch Sweet Hearts… we have a pretty good assortment on the shelf…

    See everyone on Saturday!
