Yep, that is the boat I saw.

I was surprised that the boat sat pretty level in the water considering the weight of the motor. It was a pretty sweet looking rig. No, he was not in the tournament, just out for fun.

I’ve heard that any boat over 20ft can take just about any size motor. I suppose if he removes the hp rating placard, what can they do. He just couldn’t fish any tournaments. However he gets away with it, I don’t care. Just thought is was pretty sweet to see.

Nice boat! I’ve been running the 1880 since 2005. It’s been in the back waters of the Mississippi to the big waters of Bays de Noc.

    Enjoy

The Drop-N-Stay works great! I’ve been using one for the last 2-3 years now. The “Duece” is my prefered weapon of choice. I can anchor straight off the bow without breaking my ribs trying to get the anchor rope through the eyelet on the front of the boat. I’ve held in 2-3 footers on a mostly sand bottom with just a 28lb navy anchor. I’m still young yet, so a 28lb navy anchor isn’t to much for me yet. FYI, I run a Skeeter WX1880 in case you were wondering.

I got mine last week. Awesome stuff! I am a first time HDS user. This was exactly what I needed. Thanks Doc!

    Congrats on the new boat
It sounds like you bought the used one that’s been for sale on here. That was one sweat deal on a WX1950. You will LOVE the boat! I’m on my third 1880.

I’m thinking of bringing a rod or two and practice pitching jigs off the deck for brats.

I will be happy to make some veroom veroom noise for you.

Enjoy the nice weather coming up this weekend.

Thanks guys for all the great advice. Hoping to get up there in the next couple weeks or so. I have to help my dealer with a boat show towards the end of February, but hopefully after that.

I’ve heard rumors to bring cookies when I visit Dean for the best advice. Guess I’ll have to get the wife to do a little cooking.

Marshall, I doubt the Stadler’s will be tagging along. Rich is pretty busy this time of year and I know he has Spring Valley coming up soon as well. Boy, I miss that tournament. New house is priority one for this year. Tournaments are slowly taking more of back seat. It’s much more fun sharing info with people and just having fun. Plus the kids are getting old enough to tag along as well. Hoping to get my son his first walleye this year.

Thanks again guys and maybe I’ll see you up there. I’ll probably have the only Skeeter with a Verado on it. Feel free to say hi. I like meeting new people.

    Best of luck this year!

Congrats on the new ride Kirt. Sounds like a great color combo. Make sure you post pics before tournament season starts.

Maybe I’ll have to come up to pool 4 some day and we can see who can get from end of Pepin to the other faster. Never seen a Verado and Opti side by side yet. If you’re ever down on Bago or Bay of Green Bay, give me a shout.

By the way, I used your Office Max folder divider idea for tackle storage in my new 1880. Very smart and cheap idea. Let me know if you have any other ideas like that.

I had an X27c and X28c on my last boat. No problems. X110c and X27c on the boat before that. I have always felt that Lowrance has a little better bottom reading and a crispier image. I know the new HB are supposed to be better, but I still went with an HDS 8 and HDS 7 on my new boat. The HDS is a little more complicated to operate, but if you have some computer knowledge you should be able to navigate through it. It’s tough to get me to switch if I’ve had good luck with something in the past. I am definitely a creature of habit. Case in point, I am going on my third Skeeter WX1880.
