I am in the process of converting my handwritten log into an Excel spreadsheet (I’m finally up to early 2006). I haven’t yet played around much with it but I am looking forward to be able to sort by water body, date, water temp, etc.. I’ve looked at other electronic logs and have decided to just go with Excel.

I had a similar problem. I ended up re-routing the wires that go from the control box to the motor/servo on my T-8 (electric start/remote controls)because I think there was interference when they were near and not even touching the motor wiring. Trollmaster did sent out two different replacement servos and tested my control box, all free of charge. I have had zero problems since re-routing the wiring and replacing the servo. Good luck!
June 24, 2009 at 3:43 am #786197Another suggestion would be replacing the original hooks on your cranks to Mustad Triple Grip hooks. These hooks penetrate well and usually take a bit of doing with a pliers to remove so you know they hold well when reeling the fish in. Also, from your post it sounded like your boards may be rigged to slide down the line when a fish hits. The releases Brad mentioned are simple to work with and hold well, and would be a great option. It’s a pain to deal with a board coming off when you have a few lines out but it’s also no good to have your boards slapping the walleyes in the face. Good luck on the next trolling excursion.
April 10, 2009 at 1:52 am #767280Thanks Jason! Nice tourney rig by the way. Maybe see you on Leech!
August 26, 2008 at 7:50 pm #707938I recently bought a boat with a 2003 T8 with remote controls. The motor runs like a top and I’m excited for the fall trolling bite. The only thing I do not care for at all is the bracket that holds the shifting and throttle cable at the motor. It flexes when pressure is exerted from the cables when turning and the throttle linkage moves as a result which makes speed vary (which obviously can be good when intended). Last night as a matter of fact I made a modification to reinforce the bracket and I am anxious to try it out. If it doesn’t work, and maybe even if it does, I am going to get a trollmaster so I don’t have to worry about unwanted speed changes. Otherwise, as far as kickers go, there is no other motor I’d want on the back of my boat.
October 12, 2007 at 3:33 pm #615954Thanks guys. I’m looking forward to getting my bearings down there and hopefully hooking a few. Interested in a picture worthy fish or two.
April 25, 2007 at 4:49 pm #564544I was out for the first time briefly (about an hour and a half) last night on Devils. I moved around a bit and found a couple biters on the north end near the boat landing in about 9 FOW. I was using crappie minnows/bare hook and small mister twister. Two other boats out. Water temp (surface) was between 52 and 54 degrees according to Lowrance. Water is low. There is a “crappie contest” this weekend for the area lakes.
October 24, 2006 at 12:49 pm #491983Thanks. I think I will plan on fishing while I’m there. I’ll be throwing my waders in.
October 4, 2006 at 5:54 pm #485631I thought I would change the “0” to a “1” on the replies to my original post. I’m still interested in fishing later this weekend if anyone is looking for some company. I could be there Sunday afternoon. Thanks.

September 7, 2006 at 2:58 pm #476130Thanks for the opportunity to enter this drawing. Also, thanks to everyone who openly shares his or her passion for fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.
July 20, 2006 at 11:02 pm #462189I fished Shell last week and trolled up two walleyes (about 15 feet of water). There are plenty of smallies, some largies, northerns and the occasional nice muskie. I usually target walleyes and smallies. A few weeks ago, the south bay produced some nice smallmouth for me. There are a number of cribs in the 20 foot level scattered all around the lake. The DNR office in Spooner has a map with the approximate locations of the cribs. Good luck.
June 2, 2006 at 4:32 pm #451013I’m heading to Lake Owen tonight and will split my time between smallies and walleyes. Tight lines this weekend!
April 20, 2006 at 4:57 pm #439872Thanks for the replies. I’ll pass the info on to the kid and keep my eyes open for any resorts looking for help.
April 6, 2006 at 6:18 pm #16859One consideration is when you’re on the elk hunting trip and realize that you lost your ammo pouch in the 3 feet of snow, what caliber rounds ma and pa’s hardware store is going to have in stock. It would suck to spend a lot of time driving around looking for ammo when a person could be in the woods. Though the shorts are becoming more popular, the standards are more easily found on the racks in most places. Good luck choosing.

March 20, 2006 at 9:32 pm #431654I just received a Stowmaster (TS84S) as a gift yesterday and I can’t wait to use it next weekend to hoist walleyes over the sides of my boat. It is coated to combat snagging and has the telescoping handle. It is also easy to store as it folds down and can be carried in a tote-bag which is another nice feature. They have a few different models and you can check them out online. They have a nice warranty as well. Good luck choosing.
February 28, 2006 at 3:51 pm #425220Though I have not fished it this ice fishing season, I recently heard that Middle McKenzie was producing some decent crappies. Not sure about the gills. Earlier, Spooner Lake was getting hammered for panfish as well. I think there is a fishing tournament on Shell Lake this weekend but I couldn’t tell you where the panfish are there. I used my camera to check out some of the cribs last week while I was waiting for flags on my tip-ups and didn’t see one fish. Good luck.
January 19, 2006 at 7:00 pm #413169I’m in the neighborhood as well. Near Siren/Webster area. Looking forward to more discussion about these lakes “up north”.
January 11, 2006 at 8:21 pm #411056Roger that! I sincerely wish I could do all 4 but I hope for this year to at least fish one.
January 11, 2006 at 4:58 pm #411006Thanks for the post. I could fish for sure the weekend prior and maybe other weekdays depending on my work situation. I also don’t mind (understatement) taking a few extra vacation days to fish. Anyone can feel free to contact me by pm as well.
January 6, 2006 at 7:49 pm #409867I fish Big Round for crappies and walleyes once in a while. Bone Lake for perch and crappies. Trade for panfish. I want to try Half Moon for walleyes some evening. I also want to get out on Wood Lake sometime soon. I do more fishing farther north including Yellow Lake.
December 20, 2005 at 1:52 pm #405407I was on Big Round on Friday. I would second the opinion of it being slow. As of last weekend, I was told people were only driving four wheelers/snowmobiles on Bone. Some perch are being caught but not in the numbers they were last year; at least not yet.
December 6, 2005 at 1:43 pm #401562I drove by the landing on Big Round last saturday. 4 vehicles at the landing and people out with portable shacks. I did not go out on the ice (was heading to another lake) but I assume there was about 4″. Should be more now and even more by Saturday. It looked like the guys out there were fishing panfish near the sandbars/humps. I plan on being out there next Friday. Good luck.
October 21, 2005 at 12:51 pm #390995You can bet that I’ll be either posting prior to the full moon next year either regarding open seats or where to buy the beverages in celebration of pulling some huge eye’s into my new boat. Tight lines everybody!
October 18, 2005 at 4:05 pm #390360I fished Prescott on Sat. night and Sunday morning (about 6 hours on the water). Put 8 fish in the boat. Mostly saugers. Trolling took them all. A 3-way with a #11 Rapala seemed to be something that saugers wanted. A few guys were doing well handlining. Good luck.
October 12, 2005 at 2:47 pm #389371First of all, thanks to Briank for pointing out my private message setting. Secondly, I was able to sneak out on Monday south of Hudson. Was able to pick up one legal walleye and a couple of sauger in the morning near the Kinni. I absolutely would like to fish more down that way when the water isn’t so high.
September 26, 2005 at 6:23 pm #386000Sounds like a pretty good outing on the water. Sunday I was on the upper St. Croix river (north of Grantsburg) and managed to eek out 11 smallies with 15″ being the largest. Yellow Lake has been slow for Muskies but walleyes have picked up a little bit lately. Managing a couple of eaters about every other time out in the evenings. Trolling has been the ticket however a couple eyes have come on small sucker minnows. I’m going to fight the urge to put the boat away for a few more weeks but the ducks and bucks are definitely demanding attention. As the saying goes, so much to do, so little time.
