Thank you for all of your nice comments. Here are answers to all your questions:
I will post a link to the You-tube version for those of you who don’t have Face-book or can’t view it on your phone.
The video was posted on Ron Lindner’s Face-book site. James Lindner was the Camera man and I (Jason Aleshire) was the one who caught the fish.
You are correct, the fish was 35lbs and 42 inches – we mentioned the weight of the fish in the video prior to release.
Yes I was using a glove to cover the cuts on my left hand from the night before. Should have been wearing it more – could have prevented the cuts in the first place. You’ll notice I release with the right hand. I accept all crap given to me on the subject. 
Yes, the fish was caught on a bass rod/reel. We had three other heavy duty flat rod/reels with bullheads in the water, the fish bit on the only channel cat cut-bait rig we had out – to my surprise. I always use heavy 7” bass rod/reel combos with 20lb Hi-Vis Sufix Elite for channels. They have handled the 20+lb Red River cats perfectly for years and they are a lot more fun.

I was able to buy no roll sinkers and other basic cat essentials at the bait store in Wayzata. They have more and may expand offerings in the future if enough guys ask for it – I did. THey also sell suckers (frozen also).
