Wow great tips guys. On my second question ( posted eariler) does it sound like I might be getting the run around to help this pro sell product? I don’t know him super well and kinda get the feeling that he wants me to buy 150 bucks worth of stuff for his benefit alone. I may just be over thinking but wanted to know if anyone has ever had to do that to get their foot in the door with a local company?
April 14, 2010 at 5:55 pm #863773ok. So I do have some ideas that I plan on doing once I get there. I need some advice on this situation. I have a person that I know through my girlfriend that is a pro for a national lure company. Not a huge company but the products are sold in GM and Cabala’s. He is willing to get me set up on their field staff. However I have to purchase $150 worth of gear. I am more than ok with buying from him but I just want to know if it is normal to buy into a field staff position.
As well what would be the difference between field staff and a pro?
Thanks
April 13, 2010 at 6:23 pm #863460Yeah I have heard that about 1,000,000,000,000,000,00 in the last 4 days. On the up side at least I am not dead with the brakes cutting out and my boat still floats. OOO the cost of having a hobby
April 13, 2010 at 2:36 pm #863388Wow what a crap weekend. Not the lake but my car and boat have never acted up so bad. I had a battery die on Tuesday which was 100 bucks to fix. Then when I went to get the boat wet on Friday nothing worked. So I took the boat back to the battery place to get everything set up right. Heading back to the ramp again as I am pulling up behind the boat in line my brake pedal hits the floor limp. I broke a brake cylinder and had no rear brakes. (thank god I was not sitting in rush hour). Ended up getting that fixed on Saturday morning (200 bucks). So drive down to LAX on Sunday and put in on the lake and blow a fuse when I turn on my driving graph…….. Ends up out of all the 30 fuses I have I don’t have a 3 amp. So I end up taking 1.5 hours to find one. Checked 2 gas stations and Menards and finally found some at an auto parts store. So I replace the fuse and it blows again…. must have a short. So we decide to drive very slow and have the trolling motor down and have the bow mount graph read depths. I trimmed the engine up almost out of the water and still managed to hit a stump. I was going very slow but just added to the day. So we just trolled around in the lake. Well about 5 hours later I tried to start the big engine up and no water was coming out of the thermostat hole. So I bring the boat in and pull her off the water and pull the plug. I did have some water get in because I was leaning over the back looking at the engine when the water was not coming out. So logically I flip my bilge pump switch……… POP! blows that fuse and the front trolling motor fuse. So in my silent rage I drive home. When I get home I unplug the driver graph and replace the fuses. NOTHING BLOWS. Then when I put power to the driver graph it blew its fuse again and fired my CD deck.
By far the worst weekend when it comes to boating.
I did boat 3 bass in between the time with all the stuff happening. Water was about 60 degrees. They seemed to be sitting about 6-10 ft deep on hard bottom. Biggest bass was 16 inch about 1.25 lbs.
Can’t wait to get the boat into the shop. I love spending money. Maybe if I stay positive it will fix its self…………….
Again thanks for all the tips guys

April 9, 2010 at 2:22 pm #862459So I know you guys said the sailboat club would be my best bet but….. I am driving down on Sunday morning now and want to save the time. Has anyone ever launch out of Dakota? I am reading that its a shallow launch. That is fine because I have a small 17 ft bass tracker and I figured with the high water it would be do able. If I launch there it cuts 30 mins off the drive. Thanks again

April 8, 2010 at 2:28 pm #862075I called the city today and she said that the gate may be open…… could not tell me 100%. I heard from someone else that the gate was open last night. If someone heads down please post so we don’t have to waste the gas to drive there with the boat.
April 8, 2010 at 12:50 pm #862003I think I will take the sailboat landing. Does anyone know what the water temp is down there or any good resoucees to find out? Thanks again

April 8, 2010 at 12:47 pm #862000A little courtesy goes a long way. You never know when you might need someones help out on the water. These examples are why I only fish P2. Its catch and release and everyone help eachother out to catch some big fish. Its closer to the city and a nice part of the river. If you are not keeping then don’t deal with the guys that think its only “their” river.

April 7, 2010 at 3:01 am #861489Hey guys. I hope it is open by Saturday. I called the city of St. Paul today and they said that Lillydale, Hidden Falls and Water Gate marina will not be opened this weekend due to “cleaning.” I was a little upset with the person on the phone considering I walked down the Hidden Falls park and there is nothing to clean up. It seems to me that the city really takes their time when it comes to opening the launches back up.
Is the 494 ramp a city owned area?
