Yes Little Winne Resort is our booked location. Wanted to fish Little Cutfoot Souix, Bowstring, and Sand for starters.
Anyone know if the boat landings are or have been attempted to be plowed out so you can even get to the ice?

Thanks for the honest feedback. I’m looking also at Glen Alder Reservoir in Kansas.
Anyone you know I could use as a contact there or accommodations?
Maybe if James Holst is reading this he could throw an old friend a bone and lend me his insight????
This is a further drive, but possibly we could dodge the snow and slush issue being further south???
Any info greatly appreciated.

The dock issue is only scratching the surface of issues in Alma. I no longer will host tournaments in this city either.
I loved coming to Alma- my anglers would spend a significant sum of money on motels and fuel as well as patronize local businesses. Often staying many days and nights. I found out via another bass circuit director the Mayor came to one of their weigh-ins to request their “event fee”. Apparently he was told he needed to purchase a $200 permit to host a tournament if using the landing at the marina or the main landing in town.
From what I understand the Mayor was not pleasant about this in any fashion and really gave this event director a hard time.
I really find this disturbing and “small minded” on welcome feelings to new people who come to your community. Many of these anglers return and vacation and recreate with their friends and family after their first visit.
We hosted a season Championship and many, many events there in the first few years of our MMWS walleye circuit. Now if we wish to fish Pool 5 we will use the Belveidier Landing on the north side of Buffalo City. It’s within a few miles of the dam, has adequate parking, and no $5 charge per boat for services not rendered to those paying. Also the businesses are very welcoming to us and no “event fees” are expected.
Fountain City charges a fee and so do they here in LaCrosse. Both municipalities “get it” as they put the funds into bathrooms, wash stations, upkeep, dock renovations / improvements, resurfacing, and a host of great things for it’s users. I’m 110% in favor of the cause in this instance and buy yearly fees at both for this reason.
Too bad the leaders in Alma have become so narrow minded and dropped the ball for those who wish to come to visit their community.
Hopefully this changes so we can come back again in the future.

Entry fee for each event is JUST $200 which includes the $20/ team BIG FISH pot. There is a limited 19 boat cap on each event, so do not delay getting your entry fee in- spots are filling quick.
The river is shaping up very nice for this first LaCrosse Pools 8&9 event! For a first in a many years, we do not anticipate heavy flooding as opposed to recent years. This is going to be a hot bite, concentrating the spawning females, and the 3-way / stickbait trolling / dragging bite on the main channel should be in full force! Heavy limits certainly are anticipated.
Please e-mail me [email protected] if you have any questions or need an entry form / packet. I’ll e-mail it to you pronto!

Ten boats so far- will be taking teams up to morning of. Be at the 7th Street Landing around 6:15 and we will sign you up then. Should be a great weekend with the weather shaping up all this week. The word is, the trollers are pounding ’em pulling Rapalas in the top of Pool 8 and down by Victory on Pool 9 is really heating up.
See you then and contact me [email protected] if you have any questions.
Dale Radcliffe- MMWS Director
The reason for not returning to Pool 4 will not be a long term situation. Jenny and I just elected to pass that location for 2014 but probably will return in the 2015. We enjoyed our stop on Pool 4 in 2013 and will certainly be back for another event.
We also have 2-3 long term teams who have dissolved or are fishing alternative circuits for 2014. Originally the circuit consisted of four events and now due to limited response we are just scaling it back to three events in 2014, much as many other circuits have done. Unfortunately we also have other family obligations that are taking precedence in 2014 as well. The alternative would be no events. This feedback has been positive by many regulars who wish to fish multiple circuits yet still can take advantage of the Cabelas NTC seeds offered.
Feel free to e-mail me a [email protected] if you have further questions or concerns. I will gladly appreciate your positive feedback. Hope to see many of your at our first event in April on Pools 8&9 out of LaCrosse. I am quite certain the ice will be out and bite will be very strong at that time. Hope many of you can join us.

Bar none if you want a good fish mount go to Thunder Valley Taxidermy (Mike Morley) in West Salem. He’d done several trophy fish for me and comes HIGHLY recommended!
Mike is a super guy- tell him I sent ya – (608) 786-1397
Save $50.00 today by not missing the MMWS Red Wing pre-registration deadline! Time is ticking- deadline cutoff is THIS Saturday 3-23-13. Entries postmarked and paid Sunday 3-24 to Friday 3-29 at 6PM are subject to this additional late fee… don’t miss out! Get your teams entry in the mail today!
We have 18 teams in thus far, I can take up to 50 so don’t delay!
E-mail me [email protected] if you need a entry form and rules packet!!!
*Proceeds from the late entry fee go towards the MMWS Season Championship in LaCrosse- Pools 7,8,&9 on September 7&8th.
The MMWS Staff will be on hand at Evert’s Resort this Saturday during the Freeze Your Butt Off weigh-in. Please stop by our table to register for our upcoming event on March 30th and save yourself a stamp!
We are looking for new competitive walleye teams to fish this event and our entire trail. Stop by and say hi and pick up a registration form or simply get in and still get a solid flight out number!
We’ll be glad to answer any questions you have as well…
See you this weekend!

Thanks Jason and Jeremy- we like having you fish…
We put in a lot of work for our fishermen, but we enjoy it too!
Entries are beginning to come in, but we still have a limited number of open spots for teams to still get in.
Jenny and I are going to make an effort to be at the Freeze Your Butt Off weigh-in on March 2nd! We can gladly take entries that day if any of you want to secure a good flight out number yet. Look us up that day!!!
**Remember the field is limited to only 50 boats per our permit. Once the field fills that is all the teams we can take. The more in the better for everyone when it comes to the final payout! Encourage your buddies to get in….
If a team wants to get in Sunday March 24th through 6PM Friday night (pretourney meeting) they still can do so, but they will have to pay an additional $50.00 late fee, and risk potentially not getting in. Late fees go towards the Season Championship.
E-mail me at [email protected] if you need a rules packet and entry form.

Thanks Justin -smart move on your part!- looking like it’s going to be a pretty solid field with lots of early interest and teams getting in for Red Wing!

http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19018&posts=1&start=1
or you can just shoot me an e-mail [email protected]
**I also anticipate to be at the March 2nd Freeze Your Butt Off Event (Weigh-In) and can get you info then.
I would add it to this post if I could, but the Rules Packet and sign up file size is just too large.
Thanks,
Dale Radcliffe

*Also check out this link for other a ton of other posts on the tournament in the Mississippi River Walleye Forum:
Payback is relative to the number of boats competing. Typically if we have a larger field it is 80% after expenses. We do offer one of the best payback and more importantly the Cabelas NTC incentives. Be certain to look over the Rules and entry form packet for all the details at these links: http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19339&posts=2&start=1
or packet (bottom of this post):
http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19018&posts=1&start=1
However please take into consideration $30.00 of each entry fee goes directly to the 100% BIG FISH pot. Thus if we have a full field of 50 boats, BIG Walleye of the event is worth $1,500 alone.
The nice thing with this, even if you are struggling during the day for a limit, you can pop one big female at 2:00 and still go home sitting pretty! A nice incentive to stick it out all day as you just never know when it could happen!
Looking forward to meeting many new faces at this event!!!
***Here’s a picture of Jeremy Schreiner of Alma, WI- he’s and avid MMWS competitor- just a taste of the fishing soon ahead on Pool 4!***
PS- Book your rooms early- our event is certainly going to make a nice spring weekend trip for some teams. Red Wing offers a host of accommodations:

Well Boys you got your wish!!!!
The MMWS March 30th Spring Fever Tournament is now officially running out of Evert’s Resort instead of the Hwy 63 Landing!!!
I talked with Steve Weber at Evert’s Resort this morning and all is go there with him and his team. He will ensure the ramps are ready to go and will be providing a shuttle to your trucks.
I also contacted Brian Brecka from the Wisconsin DNR who has adapted our permit to the new location at Everts.
I hope to see many, many, more of you get in this event now as we have moved it to this new location. Please pass this along to others who had this in question as well!!
See you all there!!!!

Yes, the permit is as set already for that location. I suspect this year we will need to use the Hwy 63 landing, but next year Everts will certainly be entertained as the host site for launching if numbers fishing are good.
Thanks for the input- the more the better!!!

Sorry about the Typo in the phone number in the previous post:
Schreiner’s Sport Shop- Alma- 608-685-4336
…Ask for Jeremy… He’s the walleye man!!!
I just wanted to make it known as a few teams have inquired on this- MMWS does not have additional membership dues or fees additional to the basic $150 entry fee.
Only if your team wants to qualify for the NTC Championship, both members must be a registered team of The Walleye Federation (TWF).
*Don’t hesitate to e-mail me [email protected] with your questions….
See you all on the 30th!

Yes it was a tank- well over 30″. Unfortunately, it was boxed and released before we were able to get additional photos. Without a doubt the largest walleye I’ve ever seen on Pool 8. It is in the front of the box in the photo. Hopefully someone catches this fish again in the spring as she’s still out there swimming. Congrats again to Bill and Mike on your win.
Thanks Nate, it was great to have you fish and meet your team. Good luck in Spring Valley this weekend and see you on May 12th in LaCrosse.
The tournament was a four limit event, as they always are. It was a tough bite, but the winning team did get a limit.
Thanks again to everyone who fished, we’re always looking to find new faces to join us.
Tight Lines,
Dale
Should be a fun event- at least a dozen boats thus far- see you at the pre-tourney meeting. The bite is getting better every day there right now as the water is warming….
***Remember the mandatory rules meeting is at the Belvedere landing south of Alma on HWY OO at 6:00 PM Friday night.***
See you all there then,

Jeremy is the real deal and a good stick. Unfortuntately, some personalities are always worried someone may come and intervene on “their fish” or “there time on the water”.
I appreciate having someone as reliable and knowledgeable on Pool 5 who I can contact for a quick honest snapshot of what is going on before I drive an hour.
As in everything as stated before you reap what you sow.
Looking forward to our MMWS event up there this weekend… looks like we will have a solid field of good anglers.
Tight Lines,

Here are some pictures from the 2011 Alma event. Despite the high water, all but one team limited out!
Again, nice eye Jeremy. Can you get another one or four that big this year?
