I had FiberTech do my King Salmon last year and was real impressed and would do it again.
January 16, 2008 at 11:31 pm #644193I drove my 4wheeler out from Red Door at -10 degrees last year and we drove out for 7 miles. I was toasty when we got there and I didn’t have a helmet either. I really liked my Arctic Armor, but if Sno Suit was made and I had the extra money, maybe I would have went with them.
I will tell you that any product that James, Scott S., Tuck, Lip, Dean, and others (maybe even BrianK ), suggest then you can’t go wrong either.January 16, 2008 at 10:52 pm #644185I love this website and I have never had on a Sno Suit, so remember that. But I own a Suit called Arctic Armor and absolutely love it. I bought it for $299 for the bibs and coat(delivered to my door) but they are in red, now you can buy them for $320 for bibs and coat in Mossy Oak also. I got mine from Walleye Dan in Brainerd. The one nice thing about these is if you were to fall in the lake you will FLOAT!! Not trying to take anything away from Sno Suit, but I know mine was $180 cheaper, and I know you get what you pay for, but that is alot of money for most people. Just another option and I liked these 100 times better than the Ice Armor suits, so don’t get them confused.
December 8, 2007 at 2:20 pm #631216You guys have to get out of the big cities some. Here are two for the southern MN people and I grew up in Crosby,MN by Brainerd.
1) Kimbrae, MN (North of Worthington)
2) Bergen, MN (Near the Windom/Jackson area)The Prime Time Tavern in Huron, SD was great when Solva worked there.
December 2, 2007 at 12:59 am #629175I agree with Tuck. This stuff doesn’t seem to have much moisture in it. With the next week highs at 26 for the highest and lows in single digits, that should help too.
August 1, 2007 at 12:55 am #595894I just bought the two larger church boards and was told those clips would be fine to use with leadcore. Since I have a full core of lead on each rod, I was told that you can attach the board anywhere and don’t have to attach it to the mono backing.
I don’t know about the smaller yellow birds (I own two of them also), but I would think the lead would be too heavy for them.
Can’t wait I am leaving for Lake Michigan on Thursday.July 27, 2007 at 1:48 am #594457Final Question. I bought the two Church planer boards from Cabela’s that they sell as a set (port and starboard) for about $45. Since I don’t know what size they are, will these be fine to run behind lead core or will they get pulled under. I know speed and size of waves are a concern, but I don’t want to plan on using them and then find out that the lead core pulls the board under right away. Thanks again to all of you who have helped.
P.S. I see this was moved to the walleye and sauger topic, but it was a salmon question when it started. Oh well.
July 27, 2007 at 12:03 am #594434SOOOOOOO…… what would you do. Buy two dipseys or lead core? Question do you still need something like weights, lead core to get the lures down 75 feet with dipseys or do they dive down?
July 26, 2007 at 6:24 pm #594304WOW. Thanks for all the quick responses. I plan to use my four downriggers on my boat, but I recently bought two Church boards and I thought of either getting some leadcore or some dipseys to use during the daylight hours for out salmon fishing.
Here is another question then. If I bought dipseys instead of lead, what brand, size of dipseys should I buy for salmon fishing only. As you can see I don’t own any.
Which method would you guys suggest doing, the leadcore or the dipseys?June 13, 2007 at 6:15 pm #580319I will let Tuck, tell the story, but I believe I was involved!!
Hey Tuck, did you get the pictures I sent today?
June 6, 2007 at 8:06 pm #578416Sorry, and I know this doesn’t help, but this sounds like the mastercard commercial to me. Cost of a trip to Mille Lacs….PRICELESS!!
May 19, 2007 at 12:47 am #572694Sorry to hear that bud. My mother has a brain tumor and they gave her 3 years, she is on year 2 now. Hopefully something positive will come out of this. Take care.
May 16, 2007 at 2:03 am #571583I was at Phil’s Myr Mar landing and by the looks of the people, I would say the public landings at Wealthwood, Myr Mar and Garrison could not have been too busy.
May 6, 2007 at 12:49 am #568266Actually those two have won three years in a row and the second place team has got second three years in a row also. 10 crappies was what you could weigh and 4 teams had over 10 pounds, plus two crappies over 2 pounds. 2.22 won the big fish this year. May 4, 2007 at 12:11 am #567647I was and still have many Shimano, but lately my purchases have been the Pfleuger Presidents and have no complaints.
May 2, 2007 at 2:30 am #566904I have a 2003 135 Optimax and I use only the Optimax oil for it. The only thing I have done is change plugs and it has over 125 hours on it.
On a side note, good luck finding that Optimax oil. I usually get it at Crystal Pierz in St. Cloud. I went there last Wednesday and they were sold out of the Opti oil and also the Mercury Quickleen that I use with my gas. They said the only place around was Fleet Farm, so I went there. They didn’t have any of either of them. So, the next day I called A1 Marine in Annandale and they said they had one jug left of Opti oil and I told them to hold it and I would be in on Saturday. When I got there it was the only one. I thought in years past I paid about $25 a jug, but this was $32 this year.
SOOOO…. if anyone knows where they have some and at what price, please let the rest of us know.
