June 21, 2012 at 4:31 am #1077632hok-si-la park in lake city seems like it would be fun. we go there all the time but have never camped. their website is hoksilapark.org
June 18, 2012 at 5:19 am #1076634yuck, scary! glad you are safe. it’s amazing how fast things can happen. i’m not great about wearing my pfd, but after hearing these stories lately i feel stupid not wearing one.
one thing we’ve starting bringing along are the dollar store glow sticks. (the kind that kids play with, you bend them to make them glow) it makes me sick to think of any scenario where we might need them, but since we are usually out catfishing in the middle of the night it gives me some piece of mind to have a couple attached to the pfd. come to think of it, the dog will be wearing them from now on too!

Because women expect a guy to bait thier hook and take the fish off, absolutely won’t help clean the fish…Don’t even want to stay out all night, even when thier biting good.
haha, sounds like someone has been out fishing with my sister… not all of us women are like that.
June 12, 2012 at 5:32 pm #1075519Yep, it’s right before you cross the bridge to Wisconsin. 211 main st is the address.
June 12, 2012 at 4:25 pm #1075498Good luck with that! Went through the same thing here. and after much pondering and debate, went with lowrance. We are very happy with it and hoping to get the structure scan soon. Also, the lowrance customer service has been phenomenal.

If I come home late at night with fish smell on my hands, it’s explainable. If I come home late at night with it on my breath, I might get chased around the yard with a rolling pin.
now that’s funny!June 1, 2012 at 1:49 pm #1072838Just checked out baypoint, it’s open but the leevee road between the YMCA and baypoint is closed. You have to take old west main to get there. The back channel launch has water up to the parking stalls…
May 30, 2012 at 5:23 pm #1072257nice job! i love how mellow you guys are and just having a nice, normal conversation. i could never post a video, just based on my language content alone. i supposed the fact that i’m not catching any fish would be reason enough not to post a video, eh?

May 22, 2012 at 9:27 pm #1070251i don’t have much to add here except there was a huge debate at our house about whether to go with lowrance or hummingbird. decided on lowrance and i am so impressed with their customer service. there was an issue with our screen, my fiance called at 1pm and talked to them about it and we had a whole new unit on our doorstep by 11:30 am the next day! for me personally, customer service like that is greatly appreciated.

May 21, 2012 at 4:11 pm #1069773i love this forum
thanks for the link and the info!
Briank- these are the exact questions i keep asking myself! we can easily go through 36+ on a weekend. we’ll go out from noon til 2am. set up for walleyes with smaller ones, until i can’t stand it anymore and we start fishing for flatheads with the larger ones.(then you have to account for my casting abilities, guaranteed to lose a few there) the two bait shops around here are great, no complaints! the hassle comes more from the hours we keep, and getting the right sizes.
my rough estimate for set up cost was around $200? but i’m a little intimidated by the hassle of monitoring the water/ water changes, worried about them getting sick and dying off right away and i’m not sure realistically how much time it will take to maintain. that’s where you guys come in… to answer all those questions for me… haha, but seriously… what about not putting them in your tank for 36 hours? should a person really have two tanks then? such a dilemma
