That was just my 2nd time out there, luckily something made me slow down, otherwise, I would have been on plane. Needless to say, it is now a waypoint on the GPS.

You say that there are a few more. Are they clumped together or all the way across the channel?

Heading down tomorrow. Any idea where to find info about parking shuttles, etc. I called BASS, they had nothing for me.

Oh, I’m pretty sure that I have seen some similar posts from this same Mfreeman. I agree, dude needs to go, or at least be friendly. I think the days of keeping a lake secret are gone. Thus the importance of selective harvest.

I believe both wolves and cougars are native to the area. It was human expansion that decreased the population and range. If we are true outdoorsman, wouldn’t we welcome their return and accept the positives and negatives? Or do we really only care about the animals that we hunt and fish? Seems a bit ego-centric to me.

I agree, no bass in there. I’d try somewhere else.

I haven’t fished there for over 15 years, since my parents sold the lake place. Trout Lake is where I caught them back then. I am sure the Whitefish sections have them as well. But who knows now, that was a long time ago. Don’t forget about the largemouths. There were some pigs in that chain. I had good luck in Cross Lake and Little Pine.

Good Luck, I miss that chain.

I took the spark plugs to R&R marine, they told me that the VST is stuck open and flooding out. Any opinions about their service department?

OK, so I bought some of the flushing muffs and tried to start this again. It will not start. As it is trying to fire, there are beeps. Like you mentioned. I have the kill switch flipped up to run (that is where I think it should be), otherwise it would be down to off? I took out 2 spark plugs. Dumb question time (again) The tips were black and there was a black/brown oil in there. Does this mean that they are bad? Why the beeping when it is trying to start?

Call it what you want, believe in it or not. But everyone has to agree that humans are destroying the Earth to the point that it will not function well in the future.

So to see people bicker about global warming, but still continue to use the resources as if the Earth’s population was 1/10th its size is similar to an obese person going to a buffet and complaining that the booths are too small.

If everybody keeps their eyes closed long enough, the problems will go away, right?

About Denny’s- Maybe this is just plain old history or being uneducated, but I have refused to fish Denny’s tournaments based upon a childhood memory. As a child, my parents had a place on the Whitefish chain and we would venture up there every weekend all summer long. One of my favorite weekends was when the Denny’s tournament would come and weigh in at C&C Boatworks. That Saturday, my dad would wake me up early and we would go bass fish the chain and then compare our weights to the “pro’s” as I considered them. I was brought up to revere any fish we caught, we always unhooked, weighed, and released every fish as if it were the most precious to the land. The last vivid memory I have is watching a weigh in, where of course the leaders crushed our weights (but they were suppose to), But much to my disgust, I watched team after team just dump their bags off the end of the dock and walk away. I sat there at the end of that dock and counted the 3+ lb dead fish laying at the bottom of the lake. I forget the actual number, but will never forget the image in my mind. Now, as a adult, I refuse to fish his tournaments or support any of those “pro’s” that I worshipped that were a part of that. That list included, both Ted Capra and Ron Lindner, both I watched and know emptied their sacks at that spot. Since then I have not entered Capra’s store, or bought one of the Lindner’s products.
As misguided as my anger is, I know that tournament anglers and tournament circuits can do better. We are viewed by the public as a nuisance and a detriment to the lake, it should be our task to do everything we can to NEVER create this image for anyone to remember.

Thanks everyone. I was attempting to downsize the amount of LUGGAGE that I bring into other people’s boats. Since I do not have one of my own,I hate feeling like I am moving in every time I go fishing.

Probably my most favorite place to fish in the midwest. Bass, walleyes, panfish, and big rough fish. There is always something keeping you busy.

As a science geek, I would like to clear up some things with Global Warming.

    1) It is incorrectly named, which is what is causing much of the debate in the forums. It is true the Earth does have warming/cooling cycles, which are related to the comings/goings of ice ages. It should have been named, Climate Chaos, because that is what we humans are causing/speeding up through the our many types of pollutions. This is why we have extreme weather events happening randomly around the world.

2)It is true that the government is involved, because money is involved. Does this help/hurt the problem solving process? Yes, exactly the same as how governments/rulers have slowed down scientific advancements throughout Earth’s history. Galileo was imprisoned for teaching that the sun was the center of the solar system, rather than the Earth for example.

3)Is Earth is peril? Yes. Can we stop it? No. Can we delay/slow down the destruction of Earth as we know it? Yes, but only if World Politics are removed from the equation. That won’t happen, so that answer changes to no.

    4) My advice do what you can to reduce your polluting activities, we all have them, to ensure that our children have the chance to do their part.

Thanks. I don’t have a lot of experience with smallies. Hopefully I can get them to cooperate. The neat thing is, the few I have caught have been a ton of fun.

Does anyone have the website for the MN TBF? I am done with the MN BASS Fed. They continue to schedule the state tournament during the week following Labor Day, which means that since I am a teacher, I will never be able to fish the state tournament. That pretty much makes fishing the club scene a waste of money.

Good to hear that I am not alone. I thought I had a monopoly on dropping them at the boat.
At least you got to see it. That is almost has good as touching it.

I highly recommend this as a fun way to get into tournament fishing. In most cases the clubs are competitive, but not cut throat. I am beginning my 3rd year as a non-boater and still loving it. I get a chance to cruise in some great boats with some great guys that I now call my friends.

$15, man you’ve got it good. I have been giving $30-40 each day and still feeling like I am shorting them.

It is great to see Ike on a roll this year after his meltdown at the classic. Like him or not you have to respect the consistency.

A mojo rig and drop shot work great. You can sit there and really mess with’em. I agree with bassman. I really have my issues with messing them up just for fun. But if the almighty dollar is on the line….

How does the FLW championship work? Isn’t something similar to the ncaa baskeball tourney? Something like the top 48 fish head to head, seeded on placement (1 vs. 48). Or how does it work exactly? I could probably look it up, but way too lazy.

I’ve looked all over this place. Grey cloud seems to be the ticket. There are a lot of nice ones in there. I have no idea why they can not be found in healthy numbers anywhere else. Maybe it is the water clarity issue?

I do not know of one in June, but the Pan-o-Prog tourney is the Saturday after the 4th of July. It is put on by mn polebenders. They have a website with the tourney info.

There are non-boater slots still available in MN? When do the pre-tourney meetings take place? I have some club tourneys I have committed to, but would like to possibly try some of these as a non-boater. If you’re looking for a non-boater, I might be interested.

I never see Jim Moynagh’s name mentioned on IDA. He is having a pretty good year as well on the FLW. He is in 8th place for AOY and is sitting in 12th place after day 1 on Kentucky Lake.

I’ve heard that the best reason to use a scent on a lure is to help it “slide” through the weeds more naturally. This is especially true for soft plastics and jigs. Next comes confidence, if you feel that the scent helped, then chances are it will help again, for you.
