Thanks for the information. Sounds simple enough and the video was helpful also. Maybe I’ll have some photo’s to share when we get back.

The new boat ramps at Liberty Beach are great with lots of parking and with the little harbor the wind is not an issue but as for the restaurant next to the ramps, it’s closing and I don’t mean for the winter. I was just there for a burger this last weekend and was told by the gal behind the bar that the owner is closing for good. I think she said around the 20th. So sad to hear.
One of the best I’ve found is Hi-Tech Charter out of Sheboygan. Call Bryan at 920-980-4031. Or Google Hi-Tech Charter on the internet. He’s a real class act and so is his boat. I’ve been out with him on several occasions and he’s worked hard for me every time.
Darn!!! I just opened a virtual card and I got the virus. It’s a bad one. It crashed my hard drive, made my mouse eat cheese, caused the food in my refrigerator to go bad and forced me to go fishing. I hate when that happens. I was so looking forward to doing yard work. Oh well, see you on the water.
In answer to your question, yes I plan to fish the harbor mouths. As far as needing more detailed information, I am still doing my research so I would be greatful if you would provide more detail. I’ll be waiting, thanks
Hey! Thanks again guys. I think you got me on my way to putting this package together. I would bet I’ll have more questions as time goes buy, maybe we’ll talk more later. Till then.
WOW! Thanks for the quick responses. And for all the detailed information. I think I am pretty clear on most everything you guys said up until I read about this \\\\\\\\\\”pumphandle\\\\\\\\\\” thing. Is that the setup with the 8 – 16 oz. ball of lead that you \\\\\\\\\\”bounce off the bottom\\\\\\\\\\” that my brother use to talk about when he was going after lake trout? Or is it something different. A detailed discription would be very helpfull here. As for downriggers, I would like to have them at sometime in the future but that will have to wait for now. Thanks again for the information. Anyone else out there who wants to add their $.02 I am still here listening.
I\\\’m not sure if Drew wants information on lead core for walleyes or lead core for salmon but I\\\’m looking at fishing salmon with lead core and therefore I really appreciate the info you\\\’ve given here. I\\\’m just a beginner at using lead core for walleyes and I\\\’m looking at trying it out on salmon in September over on Lake Michigan. I\\\’m still doing research on what rods, reels, and line to use as well as salmon baits etc. Thanks for your post.
Yup, it’s in Pepin Wisconsin. Great burgers, great taco salad, and super BBQ Ribs. There’s a dock there for parking your boat and the service is friendly. I stop there when fishing and also when out on Harley rides.
I just had 5 of my baitcasting reels serviced by John Walter (as mentioned in an earlier post) Johns Tackle Service at 507-775-6406 in Byron, Mn. $14 per reel and they came back as smooth as when they were new 18 years ago. He goes through everything and cleans them down to the shine. Then you get them back with grease where there’s suppose to be grease, oil where there’s suppose to be oil and dry where they’re suppose to be dry. My spinning reels are going there this fall.
Looks like a St. Croix 6’8″ MXF might be the rod of choice for pitching jigs. I’m looking for a rod I can use for casting jigs and crankbaits. What would be a good compromise for both jigs and crankbaits if I could only get one rod?
Put in at Prescott at 1:30 and hit two wingdams and did a little trolling in 3 hours. No fish trolling, 6 fish in a mixed bag off the wingdams. Crank baits of many shapes, colors, and sizes Jig and crawler, nothing stood out special. Wish I had better news but I had a nice time out on the water.
Haven’t been out for a week or so but I’ll be putting in at the ramp in Prescott tomorrow for a try at the wingdams. Hopefully I’ll have a good report for you tomorrow night.
Thanks for the info BIRDDOG. That sounds great, hope it gets here soon.
I was out on Tuesday fishing the wingdams south of Prescott for 4 hours and came away with 2 walleyes, a catfish and one sheepshead. Using crankbaits and jig and crawler. I got 4 or 5 very lite bites on the crawler without getting a hook set. There was a bit more current on Tuesday than I had the previous week. No real pattern that I found like there was 3 to 4 weeks ago. Good luck.
Hey there. Thanks for the input. Wanted to let you know I’ve picked up a couple of Tail Dancers and I’m going to give them a try this coming week.
Hey there Redneck, Thanks for the update. Sounds like you had the same conditions we had, hot, south wind, etc. I guess I’ll have to try again on Monday and see if my luck has changed any.
Hey there. Any chance of a recipe? I’d like to try some pickeling. BacktrollerII
Hey Matt B, or anyone for that matter. Need some help here with white bass questions. I never fished the river until mid season this year. I’ve seen several posts mentioning white bass and would like to try my hand at catching some. I’ve been out trolling lead core for walleyes south of that big point north of the town of Pepin and have noticed the gulls several times as you mentioned in your post. My question is what would be a good choice or two for a beginner to use for catching the white bass. Are we talking a slip bobber crawler type presentation or a crank bait of some kind. Should I be trolling or drifting or what. Really would appreciate some input here. What to do, what to do? Thanks in advance. Backtroller II
Hey there. Thanks to all for the information. I’m now a classroom graduate of Planner Boards 101. Now for some on the water experiance. Looking to get out tomorrow on pool #4 with some lead core trolling and if I can pick up the boards this evening, I’ll be giving them a try too. Wish me luck. Thanks again. Backtroller II
