That survey is for SEMN. It has hardly anything to do with any area outside of zone 3. Defeats the purpose when people add their “opinions” who don’t hunt there. I would not do a survey for zone 1 since I have NO IDEA what hunting zone 1 is like.

While I don’t care too much about APR and hunt an area with plenty of deer, I wonder if the lower deer number are hurting “Faded Camo Productions” business? Not surprised insurance companies and farmers would lobby for fewer deer for financial reasons, you might be also. Just sayin

Pretty decent answer IMHO…..I don’t think so
I am committed to taking meaningful action, and I will consider all options to prevent tragedies like what we witnessed in Newtown, Colorado and Wisconsin.
As you may know, I am a lifelong sportsman and advocate for the Second Amendment, and I am a strong supporter of Americans’ constitutional right to bear arms. And I also believe we need to address the issues that are causing these massacres.
During this process, it is important that we strike a balance between the ability of law-abiding, responsible citizens to own guns and the public safety of our nation.Sounds like like someone who takes away your rights not protect them as he swore an oath to do. I believe he is lock step with the party on this one.
January 3, 2013 at 4:06 am #128558Traps set on private land without permission are not set by sportsmen. They are poachers and should be treated like the scum they are. Five or six years ago, my dog got caught in a #2 leghold while on private land that doesn’t allow trapping because they allow anyone who asks permission to hunt. I destroyed that trap. Kept the tag. Same piece of @#$% set a snare on the same farm and caught my dog the next week. I know who the guy is and I continued to remove his sets I found on the farm he does not have permission to be on with the blessing of the land owner. Now if the game warden would’ve done something to the guy it would have been nice.
Yes I dont care if someone thinks what I did was bad or wrong. He is a poacher. I did what the landowner requested. And I ended up with a dog who didn’t want to run through sloughs and water ways.
BTW I ran a trapline when I was a kid in high school.December 13, 2012 at 3:20 am #128021I just go to Tractor Supply and get the white horse wrap stuff. whatever its called?!?! Vet Wrap Maybe? Cheap works good

I couldn’t agree more…To me it is just plain selfish to feed deer so that you can look at them! They are well oiled machines and are built for winter. MAYBE in late February and early March when their fat reserves have been used but certainly not this time of year…Put your time an energies into feeding pheasants! RR
For the sake of conversation, is it selfish to plant food plots for the express purpose of killing a “trophy” and stroke your own ego. The Hanson buck wasn’t fed a perfect buffet of plant and minerals at strategic times during the growth of its antlers. I’m just saying that it is hardly selfish when compared to what we do in pursuit of the biggest deer.
How could alfalfa be bad for deer?? It is an excellent source of protein, isn’t it???? Straw? I don’t think I have ever seen anything eat straw. A deer’s diet changes seasonally.
Corn doesn’t kill deer, it makes them fat and taste good .
Prairie Chickens???? Don’t taste as good as pheasants, can’t sustain populations in our modern day agricultural landscape, and is unrealistic to thik that this bird will ever be prolific across the midwest again. Feed the pheasants, I do.

November 25, 2009 at 2:38 am #701833-30 Conibear on land?? I think that’s illegal. Call with a shotty and buckshot. They don’t come every time, you have to stick with it, and time it right.

February 18, 2009 at 10:06 pm #47762Can’t say I have ever owned one, but I can say I never will. For the cost of it, it really is disappointing(for me) accuracy wise. I don’t know of anyone that was happy with it accuracy wise. Two inches at a hundo is not that good. Sorry
A 10/22 would be by far a better fun gun, for me it is any way. Good luck

I have never gone that early in the season.
Thinking it may be my last year. Just not that in to it anymore. KHJanuary 20, 2009 at 2:08 am #46708Mix it up with some water, dump it out when its cold enough to freeze and then put a little more water on it to freeze it in. If you just dump it out, it won’t last long. Good luck.
KHJanuary 16, 2009 at 6:30 pm #46646As far as gaining permission to hunt yotes.. On the eastside I have found the permission not that easy to gain. Just keep trying! The city folks are way different than rural minnesota people.
