The reason I asked this question is I’m new to ice fishing. Just trying to understand the angler/physics here. For example, what is it about a 0.75″ target separation of a VX5 or VX6 that would enable you to catch more walleye than the 1.5″ target separation of a VX3?

All, thanks for all the great feedback. Based on all your feedback, I’ll narrow it down to either a 28″ TB Perch SH and also look at the Tuned Up Precision. Regardless ow which one, the rod will end up with a plain cork handle, ouside REC guides and a Shimano Sedona 500. I’ll also pick up a cheaper combo for the other hole.

Saturaday I’ll be out in the area of Tuned Up and will try to stop by. Again, thanks everyone for the help.

I read a post today from a guy on Vermilion that took his 4-wheeler and had 7.5″ where he fished. They only got 3″ snow while we got hammered down here.

New to ice fishing. I noticed the Slender spoons come in 1/8, 1/4 and 5/16 oz. Do you tip on any of these, or is one better to use if tipping with a minnow? I ask because the profile of the 1/4oz appears to be much longer than the 1/8th and 5/16th on the Custom Jigs and Spin site, so it must be thinner/different than the other two (so there must be a reason for that).
