Greg , I have been visiting/fishing the area for 13 years and would not waste my time on Devils Track, everything is small and a lot of recreational boat traffic and fishing pressure. I would try two island lake or head farther up the Gunflint and try Elbow or best option would be all the way to the end and go to Saganaga or seagull. Good Luck , KD

Wow Eau Claire would be a road trip, illegal to bring into MN?How about VHS. Has anyone had luck trapping them,I think we used to do that on the river between Alma and Buffalo City around Indian Point.I suppose you would need a special license,You need a license to breath in Mn these days.

IF you have a couple hundred extra bucks Go see capt. Clint from Far Superior charters,he has a thirty foot boat docked at the angry trout. You and the wife could have some fun fishing for Lakers and Chinook, he has half day trips.

I went Saturday for 2 hours and didn’t find any but spooked 10 deer.Main trails and around our apple orchard.A good workout walking in the deep snow getting to the trails but great to be out.Forgot the binoculars so I could not see if the Bucks still had there horns.Snow is melting fast now.Have fun KD

I am going to try the Hi Mountain brand sausage seasoning (spicy garlic or Jalepeno) as I like their jerky seasoning. You can order it online.

Yeah it sounds like another Red Lake deal to me.Would’nt any boat travel spread the mussels? I am still pissed I cant boat on the whole area of Red Lake. KD

I almost stepped on one Friday while Turkey/mushroom hunting, cute little thing never flinched.I went back and got the camera to get a pic,it must have thought it was hid by the log.We had our ground blind within 20 feet of her the whole time.Never heard a gobble 8:30 – 4pm Friday or Saturday.

I haven’t handled that many Muskies but do know that they are hard to handle sometimes even if prepared.I like to keep the fish in the water in my big Beckman for the unhooking and try to hoist out of the water for a fast picture ,but have had them fly out of my hands back into the water and even the floor of the boat during the picture process. That is just what I do,the small ones under 45 get a water picture of the release only.KD

I have caught 40 inch northerns in Canada but was wondering of a good place besides Red Lake in Mn to capture a 40.I am 2 inches short of the Muskie mark also and the Sunfish came when I was a 12 year old boy and caught a monster on the chip.

I have a 17 foot Lowe and fish out of Grand Marais Harbor. You don’t have to go far to get on Salmon or Lakers depending on time of year. The bottom line is if you don’t feel comfortable out there go in.Sometimes it is hard to stand up when fighting a fish but it is fun to let the downriggers out once in a while.

That sounds like you did far better than us this weekend. We fished below the Trempeleau Dam Yesterday afternoon and couldn’t catch anything ,I had one snap off. Today Lake Pepin yielded one crappie. Ugh!!
