Greg , I have been visiting/fishing the area for 13 years and would not waste my time on Devils Track, everything is small and a lot of recreational boat traffic and fishing pressure. I would try two island lake or head farther up the Gunflint and try Elbow or best option would be all the way to the end and go to Saganaga or seagull. Good Luck , KD

Wow Eau Claire would be a road trip, illegal to bring into MN?How about VHS. Has anyone had luck trapping them,I think we used to do that on the river between Alma and Buffalo City around Indian Point.I suppose you would need a special license,You need a license to breath in Mn these days.
July 9, 2011 at 1:01 pm #979414IF you have a couple hundred extra bucks Go see capt. Clint from Far Superior charters,he has a thirty foot boat docked at the angry trout. You and the wife could have some fun fishing for Lakers and Chinook, he has half day trips.
March 2, 2010 at 12:25 pm #847979I went Saturday for 2 hours and didn’t find any but spooked 10 deer.Main trails and around our apple orchard.A good workout walking in the deep snow getting to the trails but great to be out.Forgot the binoculars so I could not see if the Bucks still had there horns.Snow is melting fast now.Have fun KD

June 15, 2007 at 10:50 pm #581055I haven’t handled that many Muskies but do know that they are hard to handle sometimes even if prepared.I like to keep the fish in the water in my big Beckman for the unhooking and try to hoist out of the water for a fast picture ,but have had them fly out of my hands back into the water and even the floor of the boat during the picture process. That is just what I do,the small ones under 45 get a water picture of the release only.KD
June 12, 2007 at 12:44 am #579748I have a 17 foot Lowe and fish out of Grand Marais Harbor. You don’t have to go far to get on Salmon or Lakers depending on time of year. The bottom line is if you don’t feel comfortable out there go in.Sometimes it is hard to stand up when fighting a fish but it is fun to let the downriggers out once in a while.
