A little trick i learnedis, if they dry out just though the in a little water. They’ll rehydrate and be good as almost new, or at least be easier to get off the hook.

Ok didi a little looking around. found 3 that may intrest you. Just Fishing With Grandpa, by Gina Mayer.
Gus and Grandpa Go Fishing(Gus and Grandpa), By Claudia Mills, and Cathrine Stock.
Fishing With Grandaddy B,by Tony Pennington, and Jennifer Emery.

There are also tons of other books at Amazon.com that pertain to father son fishing that you could tell your son about, or for others reading this. What better way to get a child excited about reading and fishing at the same time.
All books I just listed are also avalible on the Amazon.com store. Thanks for reminding me of the memories of seeing the exitement of fishing with a child. Its beenn to long a winter cant wait to take them out again.

I got to say that some of my most memorable experences have been watching my 2 oldest(5 and 7 year old) children catch there first fish. I still have a 1 year old to go. but reading this post made me get me excited about seeing a grandchild reel in there first fish(i’ll tell you a real tearjerker). So iguess wht i really need to know what is it your looking for a rod and real for the little one or a book? the rod and reel is easy there every where but the book i’ll have to do some researsh on but i’ve seen them and kind of know were to look, and for this kind of cause I would be pleased to help out. There is truely no better experience in life than the look on a childs face that has just reeled in there first fish, and to them it just doesn’t matter if it’s a 3 inch blue gill or a 50 inch muskie.

I had an 82 35 hp Johnson and it was 40:1. There should be a plate on the motor to be for sure.

Check out the Wisconsin Dells area. So much for the kids you’ll never get to it all. Plenty for the wife, and several good lakes near by plus the Wisconsin River. Trust me no one will get bored.

That should be enough info, and sounds great. Now you gave me the itch to hunt to go along with that itch to get back on the water. Thanks.

First things first i’m don’t want to start a pissing match or something, and i’m not offended at all by questioning my fish iding abilities. I was just tring to point out that there are other people out there with more credibilty than me that everyone knows.

The 80 feet of water i wrote about was not my home waters the waters i was speaking of was i beleave Rainy Lake, but dont hold me to that. That was on kavajecz new fishing show.

As far as my home waters theres a few,but i fish for the flats on the Rock River in Illinois. Now i don’t know what the flathead population is up in MN, or if the mortality rates would really effect it but down here its pretty good.
Now before I go any further I want to say this is not something I do often maybe once or twice a year maybe catch 5 to 10 fish total in the winter. Now the section of water i fish if its not the best its sure in the top2 or 3 in the state for flatheads the couple of guides on this part of the river brag of 40 to 50 flats a year over 40lbs not to mention the hundreds of 20 and 30 lbs. This fishery is not strugling. Now im not gonna lie i have snagged a couple of these fish but thats not what im tring to do, and i think we’ve all done that wether its bass walleye or what ever and some of you even kepp those fish even though it illegal. I use a 1 to 1.5 ounce jig with power bait power poggie to catch these fish. Now if i just wanted to snag a fish would be using this setup.

Now if I were to see a major decline in this fishery i’d be on this band wagon with you other guys. Not to mention our locations are differnt we don’t get as cold or long of winter here maybe that has something to do with it because these fish down here do eat through the winter not as much im sure but they do.

P.S. I let my in-fisherman subscription run out,but i’ll make sure I get a copy of that artical that was mentioned to see what they have to say. Thats about the only fishing magizine I read anymore because those guys do know there stuff. It seems to me the other magizines just rewrite the same articals year after year In-Fisherman is always something new it seems.

Just a few comments of my own.

Mark Martin does deserve a championship but not 98 when Gordon won the chapionship but (i don’t remeber the year off the top of my head they all start torun togethrt after a while)back in the early 90’s when nascar robbed it from him and gave it to Earnhardt. Now don’t get me wrong I was a lot bigger Earnhardt fan than Martin but no one deserves to have that happen to them.

Petty is hooking up with Everenham for engines and all those dodge guys work together on setups so start watching for them up front more often.

And last but not least GO JR. GET THEM THIS YEAR AND MAKE THE OLD MAN PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me it depends on bottom structure and depth of fish. About the only time i’ll go with a 3-way is if the fish are holding off the bottom because you can make the dropper longer and put the bait in the fishes face. I like a bottom bouncer better, because it wont get hung as much yea i know weights are cheap but you cat catch as manny fish when you have to keep retieing them on.

No eye-full you were right that in-fisherman was flatheads. And as far as the question of my mouth hooked fish being flats or channels trust me i know the difference. Not to mention a couple of these fish woud have destroyed the chanel cat state record. Not to mention the fact i think the infisherman staff know the difference. Not to mention the fact i got the idea and learned how to catch these fish from another fishing show (i dont rember what show it was though)that was filmed on one of my home waters. Now if you want to talk mortality rates of catch and release then maybe we should just quit fishing all together. Yes these fish come out of deep water in the winter, but don’t we all pull other fish out of deep water year roud and release them. Just last week i was watching Keith Kavajecz on The Next Bite pulling walleyes out of 80 to 90 feet of water and releasing them now that is a lot worse than 20 or 30 feet. So with that mantallity maybe we should put a closed season on walleyes in summer when the eyes go deep.

Hey i have no problem with this its just another head ache for the outdoorsman by now we should be used to this crap, but what are you gonna do.I have nothig to worry about i have no skelltons in my closet. I just dont understand how this will help. If your gonna own firearm illegally your already breaking the law the only people this reall effects is the people that own them leagally. Not to mention the fact i havent used a fire arm to hunt in over 10 years. As someone else mentioned theres assiting in hunts. People like myself that only use archery equipment. Then theres those crazy cajuns i met when i was living with a buddy of mine down in lousiana. They invited me to go bore hunting with them only to show up packing the remington 870 to find out that all they were packing were only bowie knives i quickly explained i only used my knife to clean the game after i shot it and left all the fun as they explained it to them.

Ok first of all the icant even rember the name first video game system i ever had. It only played one game. The one with the ball that bounced off te paddle on one side of the screen to the other side you had to have to players to play. But if were talking all time best throw in my vote for donkey kong or galaga. I could sit and play those for hours. That is before i went fishing for the first time. then the priorities changed.

check-out the new humming birds with 3-d tech. these are very cool they measure depths at 11 different points to show 3-d contours of the bottom structure. theres two differnt models including one in color with gps mapping built in dont know the prices yet.
