A good site and application to download for this issue is ad-aware from http://www.download.com. The application finds small pieces of programs in the registry and asks you to remove them. Very effective for home pc issues.

    Thanks,

    Ryan,

Thanks for the info. It is interesting to see all the different ways to train a dog and I am sure that different dogs respond differentlys. Pointers vs Flushers. Either way, the dog learns to respect the collar and my dog acts like a gem when he feels the prongs on his neck. I just bought a dummy collar yesterday to trick him.

    Thanks all,
    Adam

I was thinking that you would correct the dog at the point where he is making his mistake in the field. If you bring him back to your side and correct him, he doesn’t know where he did something wrong. Please explain why he has to be by your side when correcting him. Great pointers though! Thanks,
    Adam

Thanks for the information guys. He seems to have a great nose for hunting and is pretty obedient. I will look into getting some of these books and studying up on lab training. How is fishing up in your areas? Crappies are starting to pick up down here and the walleyes are as well.

    Thanks,
    Adam

That would be a lot of fun. I have been using a 300 yard shock collar but didn’t want to mention it because some hunters consider it non-humane. For me, it gets their attention quickly and makes them respect your training methods. One of my main issues with him while out in the fields is that he gets very excited on a hot track. You don’t want to correct him because he is doing what he is supposed to do, but he sometimes heads away from you at 110 mph on the birds as*. I have tried a rope to keep him in range…….would you recommend a collar for this as well?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Has,

Thanks for the response! He hears a shot and is ready for action. It is calm to keep him steady when you are focussing on the birds. Would you recommend tieing him up in the blind and releasing him when the bird is down(but on your command)? When training, do you recommend a shock collar?

Anyone got any good pointers on how to get a lab ready for duck hunting? He retrieves well, but is a bit jumpy, any tips?

Any specific places in the river to target? Down trees, sand bars, deep holes?

Thanks for the advise! The world is full of suckers! I have heard of bullheads being used. What is the typical length or poundage that you use? 1 lb bullhead? Also, when is a good time to fish for the big flatheads on the river?

I will check on those regulations in WI.

    Thanks,

Exactly. I can’t imagine a fish that big. A walleye at 15 lbs is a monster around here. The fish in the picture doesn’t look that fat though. What is the longest walleye that you have heard of? Around 33 is the longest wally i have witnessed.

What part of the river are these fish in? I am sure they are moving North if they aren’t there already.

Thanks for the info. Haven’t seen that rig around before but it is surely worth a few bucks to try.

Sounds like fun. I haven’t ever fished off the float before but always see people catching the fish. I haven’t really fished with ringworms in the past, just twisters. What is your external email address and we can keep in touch with the fishing reports in pool 9 and 10. Do you fish the river anyother time of the year? We hit lone rock quite a bit for walleyes and catfish.

    Good weekend,

Sounds like a plan. My dad an I might head to the river tomorrow for a day of fishing. Sure beats work. Heading to the deer expo tonight thought. My dad hasn’t went this week so I didn’t get a report but heard that the river is on the rise.

Have you tried using ringworms? We picked some up and have had luck with the chartruese ones with a 3/8 oz matching jig. What has been hot for you? Have you seen better results at Genoa this year? I have heard it is a better fishery but is 30 mins up the river farther.

I have been varying my speeds to explore my options in the different currents. But I typically go around 1.5 mph. Thanks for the info and the link.

    Bob,

This time of year, I get up there probably probably once every 2 weeks. I live in Barneveld and fish with my father, Carl. I am pretty sure I know how you are. Your wife is Kathy and she coached my wife in volleyball when they went to state in ’99 at dville. I didn’t know that you fished the river frequently. Lynxville has been spotty when we were fishing there recently. A few fish here an there, nothing big though. you?

Eyes……cool pics. It almost appears that the eagle has a glowing look coming off its back. A truly beautiful bird and an American icon! What kind of camera do you use BTW? Thanks for the fishing update as well!

    Take it easy,
