I love fishing DL, but I live so close to Lake of the Woods, it’s hard to find the time to get over there as often as I would like. You won’t regret the trip.

I’ve stayed pretty much everywhere in and around Devils Lake, by far my favorite is the the state park. Graham’s Island is the name of it. I’m not positive that it is blacktopped all the way to the park or not. As far as fishing advice goes, contact walleye pro Johnie Candle. He guides on DL when he’s not tournament fishing, and is always willing to help out with tips and advice. Sorry I don’t remember the name of his guide service, but I’m sure the Chamber of Commerce could help you out. Good luck and have fun.

I try to make it back for Riverfest every year just for the Blackened Catfish sandwiches the Radison sells in their booth at Riverside park.
If you want to see a nice view, head up Grandad’s bluff. The Alpine bar on the way up there is a nice joint to pop in for a burger and beer too.
The best cheesecurds in the world can be found at South Lanes Pizza on the Southside of LAX. I’m drooling like Homer Simpson just thinking about them.

Yes, it’s worth the trip. Have fun.

Q: If you’re paddling upstream in a two-way canoe, and you drop your hat will it come back to you?

A: False, because there are no bones in ice-cream.

Is it farther to Chicago or by bus?

From my sources over there, I’ve been told the coulees and bridges all have open water. The Pike bite has been really good the last week or so, and the ‘eyes are showing up too.I’ll be over there either this Saturday or next, and will try to post a report.
