Thanks for all the feedback. Got into town tonight, staying at Royal Dutchman, nice room. First time on the river. Word is its slowed a little since last week. went out for a couple hours, launched at Timber. reading 38 temps at least 18 maybe 20 inch clear. heard they are doing pretty good in front of Sportsman or east of Frontier. will report tomorrow.

Any new information out there? I heard little Fork broke and muddied things up. This is our first time going just wondering how long does it usually take to settle. Or does anyone have good muddy water tactics?

Thanks for the reports. Are they still calling for 10 inches of snow there tonight?

I’m thinking about heading up for the river run for the first time this year. The problem is the only time I can make it is the 22nd through the 26th. Any thoughts on my timing….To early?

I’m going up to the North Arm last week of September. This will be my first fall trip, I was just going to ask the same question you did. glad to hear the walleye advise also.

My Boat was delivered yesterday! When I started this post all I wanted to know was if anyone else heard the same thing I did. I bought this boat from a dealer that was a 45 minutes drive farther than another marina; both were very close in price; however I felt more comfortable dealing with this place. I was not accusing my dealer of lying, just checking the story out. Better to find out sooner rather than later. I spent some time yesterday with the shop manager going over upgrades and rigging. Another good experience, Mike really seems to know boats. Over all even though Water Werks was a longer drive, I’m sure it was the right call, they really are a class act.

Booze was mentioned but fresh potatoes for shore lunch is another to leave behind.

I understand the booze , but the “fresh Potatoes”??? What up with that???

    Mark

weve had to buy our potatoes over the boarder for the last ten years…Ther first year we had to leave 15 lbs of potatoes at the boarder, cross the boarder and buy 15 lbs.one more thing I wont miss about our fly-in trip.

Thanks again James, I think we’re going to play it by ear….we always have the option of driving over and getting it if we want ( didn’t realize that was an option until I read your last post) BTW excellent web site you’ve got going here . Just stumbled across it while surfing for info on Rainy Lake. Hope you all have a blast on the Houseboat trip, looking forward to joining one in the future.

I was looking for a used sled last year, This is the scam this guy tried to use on me

    Hi,
I’m Lee, let me know if you’re still interested my 2004 Skidoo MXZ 600 with 990 miles, never been involved in a accident, no damage, no scratch, no rust and I can say that this sled is in perfect condition and you will love it if you will decide to move forward. All documents, including owner’s manual, clear title and a bill of sale will be provided along with the Snowmobile. The price is not negotiable $2000 firm. I’m selling this Snowmobile because my child of only 23 died 2 months ago in a car accident,a drunk driver hit him and his fiancee. The sled belonged to my son and it brings me bad memories and that’s the reason I want to sell it.
I travel a lot with my business and I want to make this deal through eBay’s Business Purchase Protection Program. I just need your full name, full shipping address, home/cell # so I can open a case (with no further obligation or fees). eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need. I will take care of the shipping so don’t worry.

Thanks and have a good day,
    Lee Jefferson

I couldn’t believe this guy was even trying this, unfortunately some people do fall for the scam. as soon as I asked for his phone # I never heard from him again.

If you want to go to the Canadian side to say you were there,I’m sure you could do well. But you sure don’t need to just to catch fish.

We’ve been to Canada several times. My son ( 18 years old ) and I have done the same fly-in trip every year since he was 8. The reasons we are trying Rainy instead the fly-in we’ve done the past 10 years is the travel time…11 hours verse 14 hours driving, hassle at the border, 1 hour load plane, ½ hour flight…long day. Also the comfort of fishing out of our own boats is a plus. The lake we‘ve been going to has great walleye and northern fishing but no smallmouth. The only reason we are even considering crossing the border on the lake is what we’ve read about the smallmouth fishing to the north. We already plan on getting a guide our first day, I’m going to check Chris’s schedule today, I think he will be on the houseboat trip the day we need him. If we can’t get Chris, any other guide recommendations

    Thanks for the input.

CWD has been around since the 50s not one recorded sickness from eating the meat….Still Illinois DNR thinks eradication is the answer. They come in at night with sharp shooters and shoot every deer that comes near their bait piles. I hunt in McHenry County and my stands that I used to pass on 20 to 30 deer per season waiting for a trophy, taking a couple for meat, last year were pathetic.

This is coming right from the engineering dept and parts dept at alumacraft that it is a 30 gallon tank with 20 usable gallons with the new venting system and the advertisment is a “mis print”.

They picked up my boat Monday and returned it today to fix some other issues as well as the fuel filling/capicity problem. I have a fuel flow sensor in with my HDS unit as well and can confirm first hand that I will run out before you use 35 gallons!

Could you post the phone # of the engeneering dept. I’d like to call about the Dominator
